Man, that page is so classic. Especailly the black metal one...:
21. Make sure your album goes out of print about 3years after its release... so it becomes 'cult'. 36. To producers of black metal albums: remember...no low end! If it doesn't hurt to listen to, it can't be "true". 42. When asked by a non true BMer what BM is, say something like, "BM is the raw essence of pure black evil in man", in anycase, make sure that by the conversations end, the other person still has no idea what black metal is. 666. Own hundreds of black metal albums, demos and bootlegs. Listen to approximately 8 of them regularly. 87. If possible, design the title of your album so that it consists of three completely unrelated words. Dimmu Borgir are the master of this (i.e.Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, Spiritual Black Dimensions, Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia, Godless Savage Garden) but you mayalso want to refer to Immortal's "Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism". 94. Own every Darkthrone release. Listen to exactly none of them. 95. Own cult-as-@#%$ shirts of bands you not only own no releases of, but also haven't even heard. |

The makers of "Get Thrashed", the upcoming documentary profiling the thrash metal scene of the early Eighties and its impact on the music scene, have posted two more preview clips via the project's official web site. The first clip features METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett talking about the influence that METALLICA had has had on the thrash genre, while the second clip features many of the artists that were interviewed talking about what they think is the "ultimate thrash album." Check it out here (go to the "Media" section).
Filming for "Get Thrashed" was recently completed and the show is currently being edited. Post-production should be completed in late spring/early summer with an air date and location to follow soon after. "Get Thrashed", the brainchild of director Rick Ernst, a longtime freelance producer for MTV, will include interviews with METALLICA, SLAYER, ANTHRAX, EXODUS, GODSMACK, DISTURBED, SEVENDUST, TESTAMENT, OVERKILL, DEATH ANGEL, SHADOWS FALL, MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, STONE SOUR, SUPERJOINT RITUAL, LAMB OF GOD, VIO-LENCE, KREATOR, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, VOIVOD, CHIMAIRA, BIOHAZARD, FOZZY singer/WWE superstar Chris Jericho, SEPULTURA, KITTIE, THE HAUNTED, D.R.I., SOILWORK, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, HEATHEN, Brian Slagel, Jon & Marsha Zazula, authors Ian Christe ("Sound of the Beast") and Steven Blush ("American Hardcore"), NY metal radio DJ Eddie Trunk, "Radio Rampage"'s Ron Quintana, as well as unsigned thrash bands OSMIUM, CONCRETE COFFIN and VISCID. |
MTV has officially lifted the ban on the zombie-infested promo clip for the song "What Doesn't Die" off of ANTHRAX's latest record, "We've Come For You All", according to a posting on the band's web site.
Although the network initially banned the clip for violent content, the decision was eventually overturned for undisclosed reasons. When reached for comment, ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian said, "This video needs to be seen. People need to know that this zombie menace, left unchecked, will be the death of us all!" "The decision to air this terribly stereotypical and racist anti-zombie propaganda is deeply upsetting," said Arthur Breakstone, chairman of the fictitious organization PETZ (People for the Ethical Treatment of Zombies), according to ANTHRAX's web site. "In this day and age for the living impaired to be portrayed as shuffling shambling flesh eating monsters is an outrage. We plan on boycotting MTV and all it's affiliated products and I urge all of you to let your voices be heard! PETZ will prevail in this matter and all others that slander such beautiful creatures." |
^ Ahahaaer, I'm gonna have a look at that Anthrax vid. Is it on their site?
I heard it yesterday.
Legacy behind, or if this was another band doing the song, would anybody actually like this?! I doubt it...
Well, if you read the thread, just about everyone who digs thrash does.. its a cool song. Not Megadeth's best, but it kicks the crap out of new stuff. |
The first clip features METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett talking about the influence that METALLICA had has had on the thrash genre
Did anyone else watch this? He sad Metallica was the first thrash band. Wasn't Exodus around before them? He must be pretty dumb considering he was a founding member of Exodus.

He also wrote some of the worst lyrics on St. Anger. You can't take him, or anyone in Metallica seriously anymore. They've all burnt their brains out man. |
Did anyone else watch this? He sad Metallica was the first thrash band. Wasn't Exodus around before them? He must be pretty dumb considering he was a founding member of Exodus.
meh. Exodus were indeed around before them, but didn't release an album till 1985 (not their fault) Venom made welcome to hell in 1981, which was the first thrash album, but it doesnt sound like thrash to me. So kill em all was the first released thrash album for me. |
Overkill, Exodus, and Venom were all around before metallica... there were probably others that I can't remember right now... Manu... Snow no Mercy, 1983. Most songs are really fast speed metal admittedly, but Black Magic is thrash. So there ya go.
As for Corporals comment on the Megadeth song... well, I haven't heard it (yet) so :p hehehe but really, I wouldn't trust his opinion as he likes Gorguts. ;) |
Kill em All was released before Show no Mercy. Exodus were indeed around before metallica, but didnt get an album out until 1985 (And lost their lead player in '82 :p ) And Overkill weren't around before metallica! They formed in 1984.
|
No, Overkill were 1980.
SNM and KEA were both 84, so I dunno which ones first... |
^ Show No Mercy was recorded in 83, but released early 84. I'm sure that KEA was realeased in 1983 however.
Anyone here know the band called Hades (thrash)? I was looking through some bands on metal-archives and found this band. They're from New Jersey, and formend in 1978. |
41. Death metal sucks; Beer tastes better than virgins entrails
42. Black metal sucks; Beer tastes better than goat blood 44. Doom metal sucks; you could drink more beers in a minute than a doom band could play notes.
      OH MY GOD THAT'S HILLARIOUS! I took out the power metal one because Priest and Maiden border on it, and I like Iced Earth. Hey, check out my final 2 songs on my Axehead's Lyrics thread. I need some comments from my fellow Titans. |
^ You moron, the power metal one was the best of all! :p
sensitive: aha, so SNM WAS before KEA. And no Haven't heard of Hades. |
As for Corporals comment on the Megadeth song... well, I haven't heard it (yet) so :p hehehe but really, I wouldn't trust his opinion as he likes Gorguts. ;)
Ahh, Gorguts isn't for rookies like you anyways! :p Edit: ROOKIE! |
So I'm getting my girlfriend into thrash, I've played her Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, Dark Angel, and Testament. She likes Slayer, Met, Dark Angel, and Testament. She said she likes the lower tone of vocals. I was gonna start with kreator but the high pitched vocals are out, any other bands that have deep vocalists?
|
Nope, it's for old poopers to sit around and pretend they can like that spazmoidal, random, epileptic riff. (Gorguts that is)
GraveRobbers: Try some Disgorge... ahah, never mind. Hmm, many thrash bands have high vocalists. Possessed, Exumer, Exodus, Exhorder, Slaughter, and Sacrifice come to mind... some if that is quite underground and you won't be able to get it aside from Soulseek or DC+ or somethinkg like that. EDIT: Now why the fuc.k did I say Exodus? Those vox are screeching high... oh well, you'll have to show her them anyways since they are the backbone of all thrash collections. |
Kill 'em all was released and recorded in 83 (mid 83)
Show no mercy was recorded in november 1983 but not released until feb, march april or some **** in 1984) Bonded By Blood was recorded in Febuary 1984 but not released until April 1985. <-- Bloody Stupid. |
thrash is trash
|
lol ya, I'll get her to acquire to screechy taste that I have come to love.
|
oh so you agree
|
mr j, j standing for jewcunt, (sorry, couldn't think of a non-rascist insult beginning with J) has been banned. I am most pleased.
NP: Kreator - Death is your Saviour |
Just heard coroner....ya :thumb: , pure excellence
|
JMet, where did you learn that about the albums? Neither of us were even born then...... o.o
|
Get your girlfirend some Holy Moses. ;)
|
um, just kinda picked it up along the way..
coroner = the **** :thumb: ... some of the best guitaring you'll ever hear :D |
Necrophagist = the best and neraly the most brilliant guitaring you will ever hear. The solo in Fermented Offal Discharge (which can be acessed on their site www.necrophagist.de) is absolutely brilliant. 3:35... oh satan I just go fucnking nuts.
|
Nope, it's for old poopers to sit around and pretend they can like that spazmoidal, random, epileptic riff. (Gorguts that is)
It takes talent to play like that little man. Check out the Gorguts bit/videos on guitar.com. Cool stuff there. You're also judging the entire album by one song... again you are a rookie, you ROOKIE! Word on the street is that you only first heard Priest like... one month ago, so says my 'Shwa brother ratm...whatever his name is.. Back to Gorguts... Try Earthly Love and tell me that's a bad song. TRY IT! That, or Inverted. At least you respect Necrophagist though. For that, I respect you my good man... and because you love thrash so much...and you're a fellow Ontarioman... that too. I've been drinking. |
Yah, that's true about JP... /me is into extreme metal
I'll check out those gorguts songs and I like necrophagist becuase the riffs are still followable, not all start-stop jerky all-over-the-place retarded random note hitting. :p |
Coroner are better.
NP: Cryptopsy - phobopihle recent hauls: opeth - orchid venom - black reign (2nd hand shop $18) |
Obscura is a masterpiece. Yes it's dissonant but you have to give it time.
And as for doom metal sucks - being able to go to the bar and get a beer inbetween snare hits is one of the benefits!!! |
