GurS 08-04-2004 04:00 PM

Firecracker 08-04-2004 04:02 PM

iron maiden rule.
they are gonna bring out music until their testicles fall off.
and they are coming back to the uk to play for me. just for me.
and everyone else that sees fit to come.

GurS 08-04-2004 04:18 PM

indeed.

also, metallica vs maiden week on scuzz tv (uk). UP THE IRONS!

FrailandBedazzled1979 08-05-2004 12:38 AM
anyone remember me?

well, i'm back.

anyhoo, i just bought (on holiday) piece of mind - meaning i only have 3 studio albums left to get. yeah.

also, has steve ever used his signature bass since Powerslave? I mean, seriously. It's bit of a waste to have a custom bass made and then never use it.
actually its kinda upsetting to watch im play anything other than a Fender P-bass i think hehe. the only bass i play too :)

GtrMan1121 08-05-2004 12:40 AM

maiden > everyone

Kurtz 08-05-2004 12:59 AM

^ Amen.

YDload 08-05-2004 01:30 AM

Question time: What is that weird bass that Steve played only a couple of times, apprarently? It's on the inside of the CD booklet for the remastered Powerslave album. It's blue with a rosewood fretboard with stylish inlays. I don't really know how to describe it, except it's weird. I think I also saw it in one of their videos (like "Aces High" or "Number of the Beast"). Can anyone tell me what it is?

GurS 08-05-2004 01:51 AM

that's the steve harris custom bass: the Lado Steve Harris Uniform (i think is the one you're reffering to) and yeh, i think he used it in the 2 minutes to midnight video, maybe aces high aswell... i assume you mean the one with the radioactive-symbol inlays. check the lado website (not sure of url, run a google search) and there's a picture there with the specs

SonOfAres 08-05-2004 02:43 AM

anybody have any news on when the group's coming back to america? and.... NOT just on the two coasts??

ashman 08-05-2004 04:49 AM

^well from what I've heard there is only one gig planned next year (they spending the rest of this year, i think), and that gig is at donington (UK, which is coincidently where I live :)). They are not doing any big tours anymore, so they are probably not going to be doing a full US tour ever again, my advice......move to the UK.

btw welcome back GurS, have fun on you holiday?

GurS 08-05-2004 04:56 AM

yeh, it was absolutley amazing, cheers for the welcome. and also, i can't believe you live in donington! (bubbles green with envy). i wanted to go to download last year but i didn't, which really pissed me off because, well, maiden were headlining... and this year i have stupid f'ing exams at the same time (i think... as's are roughly download time, no?) which pisses me off even more... *cries*

* Concert - "The Beast Over Hammersmith" (recorded in the early '80s; previously unreleased) - 60 minutes

Disc Two:

* Concert - "Live At Donington" (recorded in the '80s; previously unreleased) - 60 minutes
* Documentary: A newly filmed history of IRON MAIDEN (part 1) - approximately 30-40 minutes in length

Extras:

* "Top of The Pops" performance of "Women In Uniform" (1981)
* "Top of The Pops" performance of "Sanctuary" (1981)
* "Rock & Pop" (German TV) track (1981)
* Documentary - Colourbox from Granada TV (1981) - 25 minutes

GurS 08-05-2004 05:06 AM

:o october 2004? just in time for my birthday! that sounds really cool - beast over hammersmith is one of the classic maiden gigs, as well as donnington 88

UntoldProphecy 08-05-2004 05:22 AM

Doesent he play a Thunderbird on the Aces High video? Im not sure though

GurS 08-05-2004 07:05 AM

nah, i'm pretty sure it's a SH unicorn, but the unicorn DOES have a rather distinct thunderbird-y shape...

Crandal 08-05-2004 09:23 AM

Frst Three Albums are my favorite. I like the latter stuff too, but I prefer the first two albums with paul diano on voclas.

ashman 08-05-2004 09:39 AM

well I don't live in donington, i meant to say I live in the uk, but hey, my bad.

haha, I just finished my A-levels, so next year I should be able to go, as long as uni doesn't clash....**** education :upset: .

That DVD looks very impressive, I already got the "live at the rainbow" video, one of the first things you see of the band on that video is paul diannos lycra covered croutch, not something to show the young'uns.

First few albums were good, but I think they were just experimenting and getting used to each other and writing together, and they really took off after NOTB.

didn't Dianno do acoustic versions of the first album with his new band? hard to imagine phantom of the opera acoustic. lol

GurS 08-05-2004 12:01 PM

acoustic early maiden? 0_o the only real songs i could imagine acoustic are remember 2moro (kind of) and strange world

FrailandBedazzled1979 08-05-2004 02:05 PM

id like to hear "prodigal son" but its never been played live :( i hope its not just a stictly Dianno dvd.

GurS 08-06-2004 06:02 AM

it won't be, beast over hammersmith was from the beast on the road world tour
and 5th page? we're slacking :(

ashman 08-06-2004 08:46 AM

well didn't bruce want to do prodigal son on the "somewhere on tour"? but steve didn't want to.

ashman 08-06-2004 08:57 AM

I like the guy who's only got one finger up, for some reason. And it's the index finger too.

ArnoldLayne2 08-06-2004 02:19 PM

Strange World not so much accoustic as electric without distortion...aka acoustic.

What about moonchild eh, i hate that crappy song moonchild.

UP THE IRONS

ashman 08-06-2004 03:04 PM
I like the guy who's only got one finger up, for some reason. And it's the index finger too.
Thats stupid guy got a drumstick from nicko, and the thing that pisses me off more was that nicko was actually aiming for that guy.

Moonchilds a great song, all the songs on SSOASS are great.

GurS 08-06-2004 04:12 PM

i actually don't like infinite dreams that much... and the prophecy will piss me off if i'm not in a certain mood.

and, ashman, believe it or not living in donnington and living in the uk are SLIGHTLY different things 0_o

SonorKen 08-06-2004 11:02 PM

Might as well make this ***Official***

FrailandBedazzled1979 08-07-2004 02:21 AM
i actually don't like infinite dreams that much... and the prophecy will piss me off if i'm not in a certain mood.
wow!! really? Infinate Dreams is argubly my favourite track from SSOASS and the Prophecy has a fantastic intro and interlude, very Murray-ish hehe i enjoy it alot! Infinate Dreams i like alot due to the lyrical content, and how Bruce handles an extended chorus, its quite a doozy to get through "its got to be....etc..." lol, and the interlude is wonderfull...espically the live version on the Visions of the Beast DVD where Steve's bass is cranked up like crazy oh how i love it!!

since were on that album id probley rate the songs like this.

1. Moonchild
2. Infinate Dreams
3. The Clairvoyant
4. Only The Good Die Young
5. The Evil That Men Do
6. Can I Play With Madness
7. The Prophecy
8. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son

i LOVE every song on that albumt to death, but if i had to rank them thats how it would go.

GurS 08-07-2004 12:29 PM

i'd rank 'em like this

1. The Evil That Men Do
2. Moonchild
3. The Clairvoyant
4. Can I Play With Madness
5. Only The Good Die Young
6. Title Track
7. The Prophecy
8. Infinite Dreams

I dunno, I find infinite dreams quite bland personally... the prophecy's outro more than justifies the more irritating aspects of the song.

well, the album isn't the best... probably 4th best album imho.

the albums in order (for me)

TNOTB
Powerslave
Brave New World
Seventh Son
S/T
Dance Of Death
Piece Of Mind
Killers
No Prayer For The Dying
Fear Of The Dark
Somewhere In Time*
The X-Factor*
Virtual XI*

the ones with the asteriks are the ones i don't have
