They better be able to, because Jom did not deserve that .

Shadows 12-06-2005 04:38 PM

If they couldn't, mx would've been taken over quite some time ago.

Cain 12-06-2005 04:45 PM
I was quite annoyed by the solos in the songs I heard, actually.
Completely. I also read his little "Q+A" question for Kirk Hammett in the latest "Guitar World" and it read, basically, "Do you think that Master of Puppets type music, with epic, blistering, solo-filled metal will ever become popular again?" For some reason when I read this he struck me as a moron.

I've generally been very unimpressed with all of the NWOAHM bands with regard to leads. They seem to lack all melodic sense, instead sounding like the wheedly, dissonant, crappy solos that caused Kurt Cobain to kill them in the first place. Ugh. If bands like Trivium are what's gonna "bring shred back" then shred can stay dead.

EDIT: Wow, this is an angry paragraph or two. Sorry. :sheepish:

Shadows 12-06-2005 04:51 PM

I agree completely. I can't get into any NWOAHM bands at all. They all sound like boring, generic crap with no regards to originality.

Except for one. :)

Stormrider 12-06-2005 04:56 PM

What does NWOAHM stand for ?

Shadows 12-06-2005 04:57 PM

New Wave of American Heavy Metal

Shadows Fall?

Shadows 12-06-2005 05:45 PM

Good guess.

YOU FAIL!

Nile is not NWOAHM and Windows Media Player is garbage.

How about:

Unearth
Avenged Sevenfold
Lamb of God
Shadows Fall
Killswitch Engage
Byzantine
In Death We Rise
Dead To Fall

Those are the only truly good ones I could think of :(.

I didn't mean Nile was NWOAHM, I just happen to be listening to them right now.

Windows Media works very well for me. :)

Cain 12-06-2005 05:55 PM

Oh yeah, Lamb of God is another one of these groups I just can't stand. If their lessons and their songs that are transcribed every other week in Guitar World are any indication, they stink.

Kurtz 12-06-2005 05:56 PM
EDIT: Just thought; the version of Woke Up This Morning on Exile.. is the full version - which is probably my favourite of the two versions I know - but the Sopranos version which might well be the one you're familiar with is the "Chosen One mix", which comes as a bonus track on their second album, La Peste. Which I don't like quite so much overall.

I can make a list of songs for you to check out, before deciding if you want to buy anything, anyway. If you like, I mean.
Nah, the version I have is the full version (I think) with the guy speaking for the first minute or so.

A list would be nice if it isn't any trouble.

Wow, you really hate most of this stuff.

I'll just hang back with my Nile and come back when this thread has lightened up a little.

Lord Abortion 12-06-2005 06:27 PM

Bartender 12-06-2005 06:36 PM

Yeah, mine. If anyone sees any more strange activity from my account, let me know, would you?
So, this certainly has been a wild ride, hasn't it.
Yes it has. What exactly happened to your account??
Completely. It was an interesting Q&A. What he means by popular is obviously not with us. He means with the other millions of people who fell in love with the Black Album and the Black Album only.
Ollie, this blue green background blows :upset:
That it does

Shadows 12-06-2005 06:51 PM

Blue green > all other backgrounds
Nah, the version I have is the full version (I think) with the guy speaking for the first minute or so.

Well the Chosen One mix is just over four minutes, and the regular version just over five, if that helps.

Songs to check out, anyway;

Speed of the Sound of Loneliness
U Don't Dans To Tekno Anymore
Mao Tse Tsung Said
Hypo Full Of Love (12 Step Plan)

Too Sick To Pray
Mansion on the Hill
Sad Eyes Lady of the Lowlife
2129

Two Heads/Power in the Blood (Two Heads is a minute or so long intro)
Let The Caged Bird Sing
Bullet Proof
Lord Have Mercy

Hello.. I'm Johnny Cash
Up Above My Head
Have You Seen Bruce Richard Reynolds
Honey in the Rock

Not saying you have to check out all of them, naturally. Just four from each album. First four from Exile.., second four from La Peste, third lot from Power in the Blood, and the last ones from (this year's) Outlaw.

Kurtz 12-06-2005 07:03 PM

Alright, thanks.
Chad changed its e-mail address and password through a thread he made in Site. I can't access it for now.
