Oh yes indeed. It'd also be freaky if they were still good after all this years...

:shivers:

Thunder Fingers 02-06-2007 02:50 AM

Last one was a very good album, just suffered from muddy production.

They still play like monsters, just as great, if not better musicians, apparently this album is going more "backwards", and mix old Rush stuff with what geddy and Alex learned from their solo albums and Vapor Trail, this is gonna be a great piece of music.

Chrysostom 02-06-2007 09:50 AM

Geddy and Alex have solo albums?

Thunder Fingers 02-07-2007 01:44 AM

Yes.

Geddy Lee - My Favorite Headache

Alex Lifeson - Victor

132WalrusesInMexico 02-10-2007 09:24 AM

So the rumor going around is that Rush's new album is going to be titled "Snakes and Arrows." It will be released May 1st, and the first single "Far Cry" will be released March 13th. Keep in mind this is just a rumor though. Oh yeah, tour kicks off on June 13th in Nashville, TN.
Yes.

Geddy Lee - My Favorite Headache

Alex Lifeson - Victor
Any good? What are they like stylistically?

132WalrusesInMexico 02-11-2007 11:53 AM

I haven't heard Alex's solo album yet, but Geddy's is pretty much like modern Rush. It's pretty good.

Oh cool. I'll have to check it out.

I really need to buy the R30 DVD. The acoustic Resist is awesome. Better than the Rio version. The production is great as well, Peart's kit sounds beautiful, especially his snare.

132WalrusesInMexico 02-16-2007 08:11 AM

It's official, Rush's newest album is to be called Snakes and Arrows. It's due out May 1st, and if you go to their website, you can hear a sample from their first single. It sounds pretty sweet to me.

Thunder Fingers 02-16-2007 08:24 AM

Nice! good old "tension, tension OPEN CHORD" rush i kinda got the "hemisphere" feeling.

BludgeonySteve 02-16-2007 11:09 AM

I can't wait for this new one. And the following tour.

Yeah, I got the exact same feeling. I really hope the production is better on this album than on Vapor Trails. Judging by the 10 second sample, it seemed loads better, but it's hard to judge with a sample that short.

I wish they would tell us the bloody tour dates.

132WalrusesInMexico 02-16-2007 04:58 PM

More news on the album:
Snakes and Arrows is supposed to have an instrumental track on it. Also, according to the producer, the album will have a similar feel and sound to Rush's late 1970s albums. I'm uber excited.

Chrysostom 02-16-2007 06:03 PM

How many of you would categorise Rush as a prog rock band? I always assumed they were prog rock, based on things like the fact they heavily influenced DT who certainly are a prog rock/metal band. But, having purchased a few more of their albums, I'm not sure I'd put them in that category any more. To me, only the stuff from the 70s was prog.

Thoughts?

sure why not

MeowMeow 02-16-2007 06:35 PM

T.T Rush needs to come to Northern California on the next tour. I can't wait for the new album. It would be nice if they could do some great "Hemispheres"-like album. Ya know, go back to the extreme 20-minute progressive thing.

I wouldn't call their modern stuff prog, but like what you said, their 70's stuff is what I would consider progressive rock.

Thunder Fingers 02-17-2007 01:55 AM

well, please define the modern stuff...

No?

well, then a type of Prog Rock it is.

Well, they haven't done an instrumental since Counterparts, so this news was exciting to me.

sweetleaf 02-18-2007 12:45 AM

One of my favorite bands

as far as i remember, there is one on Test for echo? Limbo is a instrumental no? its been way to long since i listened to that album... ok, no instrumentals on Vapor Trail.

mike-o 02-20-2007 07:48 PM

i hope lifeson sounds on the new album like he does on R30. his playing / tone is awesome on that dvd.

The Door Mouse 02-20-2007 07:52 PM

I can't wait untill the new album.
The next album that I get from them is either going to be:
Rush (just for the sake on seeing how the other guy compares with Peart)
Hemispheres (I've heard good things)

Whoops, yeah, you're correct. I completely forgot about Limbo.

Ah yes, Leave That Thing Alone. One of my favourite Rush tracks.

PsychoTronn 02-20-2007 09:01 PM

rush has cool keyboards and bass

BludgeonySteve 02-20-2007 10:46 PM

And cool everything else.

132WalrusesInMexico 03-12-2007 01:32 PM

The new Rush single was released today. Go to their website to hear it, it's really good. Tour dates should be released next week.

BludgeonySteve 03-12-2007 11:48 PM
