Apocalyptic Raids 07-31-2006 08:27 AM

I know I should, but I can't play well like that :(

AA-12 07-31-2006 08:28 AM

I can't play the normal way, haha.

repcak 07-31-2006 08:32 AM

i do

MRDuCran 07-31-2006 10:46 AM

I have my guitar in the position it would be if I was playing live. Playing as accurately live as I do at home is very important to me, I'm constantly striving for accuracy and consistency. I'd never hold my guitar in the classical position if I was standing up so I don't practise that way, sometimes I lift it but I've started to watch that because then the pick strikes the string at a different angle.

Here's an interesting little tidbit for all you out there. I just created this myself using Audacity, I figured anyone who doesn't know about this already will find it pretty interesting.

http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=C051DE427DF0A6F5

The first part is the solo from Wrath Within by Children of Bodom. The second is the solo in Concrete Malformation by Stone.

Mods I think this is a legal upload becuause it is only an excerpt from each song, not the full thing.

AA-12 07-31-2006 07:56 PM

Roope was in Stone after all, but i'll listen.

Wow that's pretty weird.

IheartSP 07-31-2006 08:22 PM

Weird as in weird Alexi would so blatantly copy something...

Do you have any stone albums?? i can't find htem ANYWHERE? could you upload it for MX upload?

IheartSP 07-31-2006 08:29 PM

Yeah sure I'll upload No Anesthesia.

Huber 07-31-2006 08:46 PM

Hey guys, I'm trying to find some fun solos to play, and I thought I'd look into CoB solos. What would you guys recommend?

IheartSP 07-31-2006 08:50 PM

Bed of Razors is the easiest if you're looking for something a little easier without shred. I think the next easiest but still somewhat challenging would be Silent Night, Bodom Night. They have plenty of great solos, check out Warheart, Hate Me!, Angels Don't Kill, Lake Bodom, and if you really want a challenge Kissing the Shadows.

Thanks. Hah, the day I play Kissing the Shadows I'll be damned proud of myself.

MRDuCran 07-31-2006 11:02 PM

I wouldn't say Silent Night, Bodom Night was the next easiest.

Punch Me I Bleed is pretty simple though except for the last bar. Same with Angels Don't Kill. Wrath Within. Everytime I Die, again except for the last bar.

Shadows Within 07-31-2006 11:48 PM

Does anyone have the Norther album Mirror of madness? ive been digging them lately.

MRDuCran 08-01-2006 12:51 AM

Nope but I just finished downloading the full Live in Seoul gig.

Have it? Yes. Will I share? No. :p

MRDuCran 08-01-2006 05:04 AM

I thought you might have it. You really are the mx pirate.

AA-12 08-01-2006 05:06 AM

I own the actual album :)

MRDuCran 08-01-2006 05:24 AM

Yeah because you're not a thief.

I can't talk, I've been doing my fair share of downloading lately with this Daily Upload being here.

Well actually you are a thief and so is everyone that's on the Daily Upload list. :D

Lil’ Bloodred Ridin’ Hood 08-01-2006 07:23 AM

pirates are nice

repcak 08-01-2006 08:10 AM

pirates = depp = nice

i was on daily upload for over a half year, but i hardly posted anything so metaloz took me off the list. i could ask him to take me in once again, but i don't want it anymore. i have enough :p

@floyd rose: when i tune my strings i turn the fine-tuning-knobs at my floyd rose alway in one direction - when this goes on i won't be able to turn them further... am i doing something wrong or is this normal? shall i turn them back again when i put a new string on?

You need to do what I call "resetting" the bridge. You start with the tuners level with enough space to go up or down. This is center. When you end up with the fine tuners all over the place, unlock the nut and "reset" the fine tuners back to the center, then tune it properly with the tuning pegs on the headstock. Then lock the nut again and it should be in tune and the fine tuners should be level again.

oh, i didn't thought of this... seems logic.
the g and low e-string are the two who are set deep... the other strings seems to be in the center.

Yeah that's fine. As long as it stays in tune or is in tune when you play it, it's not a big deal but I like to have them straight.

I might be getting a new guitar when I can afford it, which will be WHEN I get a fricken job.

you wanna get this guitar? how much does the guitar cost?
ltd, aleix laiho signature with two humbuckers  - never seen this model
you wanna get this guitar? how much does the guitar cost?

Yeah I certainly do.

It's not actually an Alexi sig since his guitar is based off of an ESP SV Standard:

http://images.google.co.uk/images?svnum=10&hl=en&safe=off&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=ESP+SV+Standard)&spell=1

this is just a basic normal version. Obviously his has the modifications that he asked for etc.

It costs £380ish I think which is real cheap. It's only avaliable in Finland though so if I get the money together and still decide I want it, I'll have to try and find a way to get it over here.

I love the yellow pinstripes.

repcak 08-01-2006 12:46 PM

yes this guitar is beautiful and the pinstripes are ... you couldn't choose a better guitar as a bodom fan :thumb:

my next guitar (though it won't be in the near future - and near future in this case = x>2yrs) will be a jackosn RR! but i don't know which one exactly. i once saw a jackson RR which had 24frets and looked very similar to the old wildchild guitar. i think i even posted i pick some months ago.

MRDuCran 08-01-2006 01:06 PM

Yeah I was considering an RR but I can't find any that I like except for Roope's old one that was broken with the green pinstripes.

The one Randy Rhoades used is horrible imo.

This one is ok but looks cheap:

This one the other hand is absolutely stunning:

And I posted this site which had some amazing ones:
http://jacksonstars.com/rrj2sp.html

I'd prefer those if they had pinstripes though.

This is Roope's old guitar:

The one Roope is holding here is also beautiful:

I'm not a huge fan on the gold hardware though.

repcak 08-01-2006 01:29 PM

... playing SN,BN (the last picture)

check out the RX-10 and paint the stripes yourself... a friend of my friend is building instruments... buy the color you want to have and paint the stripes.

MRDuCran 08-01-2006 01:56 PM

Hmm, that neck looks too cheap for my liking. I don't like the look of Rosewood anymore, only Maple and Ebony.

But to get anything like the guitars in my other post, you'd need to get a custom which I do not have the money for. :upset:

Squirrel 08-01-2006 02:07 PM

you dont want a job, i despise my job

I highly recommend a Jackson RR. I was looking for a good metal axe with either a fixed or string thru bridge and I bought the RR5 for an amazing price. I absolutely love that guitar, gold hardware and all.

I love the look of the gold hardware when its on the white body. I'd like to get an RR, but I think I might get a Les Paul
