Haha well I have been working on my pop production and producing skills if that counts! People have made very healthy livings off of 1 4 5 and 1 4 6 5 (or variations of) so here's hoping I write the next pop smash hit!

**knows this will never happen**
I am a I-V-ii-IV fan myself.
Nah, I think kids like dubstep now, or techno or something. I don't know, it all sounds like Star Trek to me.
I actually quite like dubstep, but only if it has the really "wobbly" LFO's and no lyrics. I can totally trance out to it.

fatbandit 12-07-2011 11:45 AM

If you wanna be trendy, produce Drumstep. I think that's what will blow up next.

Fucking hate dubstep though.

It already has blown up. At least here it has, I know it must of in England, I knew an English dude when I was studying and he knew shit loads about it and that was like 2 years ago that I met him.

And agreed, can't fucking stand it.

FunkMetalBass 12-07-2011 02:28 PM

Is there any particular reason for the hate? Or is it just a nonspecific "I don't like how it sounds" hatred, kind of like the one I have for country music?

fatbandit 12-07-2011 02:59 PM

Drum step is still pretty underground. Like it hasn't been commercialised yet. When we start getting club nights based almost solely around it, it'll be as popular as dubstep.

I love drum n bass but I can't get into dubstep. Can't really pinpoint why though. It just all has to be 'filthier' than the last track, and the actual music doesn't come into it, just the timbre.

Found out that Mary Elizabeth Winstead is married apparently. She can never be my fantasy wife now :(

Evening ruined.

FunkMetalBass 12-09-2011 09:29 AM

So, for the first time in college, I may get an A in a class. I forgot what it's like to really apply yourself in a class.

Me too. I had a 4.0 in year one and two, now towards the end of year 3 Im closer to a 3.58, I think. It makes me sad.

fatbandit 12-09-2011 12:37 PM

Due to the wishes of the board, she will stay. Purely for you guys, y'know.

I need a night of watching films with her in. I've only seen that one D: Seriously think she is probably the best looking woman in the entire world :|

Bass players. 5 string fretlesses. Only to be found at the upper echelons of various manufacturers ranges?

I think Squier makes a five-string fretless precision, Joe amIrite on this or nein?

spirit 12-09-2011 09:34 PM

Oh yeah - meant Jazz (style). Should have put that. Still, if they did do, that would be mighty tempting.

fatbandit 12-10-2011 01:47 AM

Any 5 string Jazz + pliers.

gaslight 12-10-2011 06:10 AM

Get the cheap version of the Ibanez Gary Willis sig.

http://www.ibanez.com/BassGuitars/model-GWB35

FlamingCouch 12-10-2011 10:04 AM

Backing this hard, without even playing it or knowing about it. If it's made by Ibanez you can't go wrong, even their soundgear stuff whoops tons of low end ass.

Jody LeCompte 12-10-2011 12:43 PM

I love Ibanez guitars, their basses I tend to stay away from.

There was once upon a time at MX that me, Ben, and Spiff all used SR506 basses as our main instruments. Ben's bass sounded amazing, and Spiff couldn't seem to break his, while mine crumbled off the stand basically. Complete lemon.

Not saying I'd never play an Ibanez bass, but there are no music stores within 100 miles of here and I'm not buying one unless I play it. I'm paranoid about their quality control.

EDIT: The Gary Willis signature plays amazing, it's just ugly as sin so you'll never see a vagina again if you buy it. Such a lame catch 22.

Spaceman Spiff 12-10-2011 12:59 PM

And now my main instrument is my Taylor 210CE. Love it.

I still stand by my SR506, though. I just never play it...

gaslight 12-10-2011 10:22 PM

Ibanez are a great brand for basses.

Played an SR500 for about six years straight, favourite bass ever. Got an SR706 as well. Supreme value for money.

angry armadillo 12-11-2011 03:28 AM

oh, I have been trying to learn this song for a while, but with no tab in existance and my lack of free time it has slowed my progress somewhat. But finally, I am as close as I will ever get... so I give you Paolo Nutini, Pencil Full of Lead

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E5jmF2-xSY

It's not perfect but I like to think I'm closer than the other youtube covers :p

What the hell, what about your Jazzmaster?

Jody LeCompte 12-11-2011 01:45 PM

My loins ache for a Jazzmaster, they ache.

FlamingCouch 12-11-2011 01:52 PM

I don't blame you. I own one and it's teh secks.

gaslight 12-11-2011 07:53 PM

How many jazz masters actually play a Jazzmaster? Love how it kind of found a different audience than the one they were aiming it at.
