Iron Maiden never copy from Mediocre bands!

I don't think their will be an instrumental, I don't think Bruce would like it...
/Slaps.

concept works certainly are the place for instrumentals.

crag 01-26-2006 04:07 PM
They don't necesserily have to play the instrumental live though. Did they ever play Losfer Words live?
yes they did, i'll send it your way if you wish.

ashman 01-26-2006 04:12 PM
yeh they did, i have a live version somewhere, i think Ash sent it out, so it must be part of one of the "First 10 Years" set.
They played it on the world slavery tour, but it was the studio version that I sent out.

Ollie;

I wouldn't rule out an instrumental, I was just saying that Bruce wouldn't be too happy, leave and come back in 5 years after a misunderstood singer took his place :p

it's a live version, i just found it. on the Running Free Live single. Bruce goes "oh bollocks, no fucking singer on it" before it.

I was slapping the disparigment of Dream Theater
I was slapping the disparigment of Dream Theater
Oh...well I stand by my opinion of DT...

I'm trying to do the recording of Trooper again, but I can't lock into crags timing on the little trill bit...plus there are a few timing issues generally, I hope he can sort them out...

EDIT: Also, I'm writing 2 solos, Janick style and Dave style :p

Lord Abortion 01-26-2006 04:33 PM

I'll record Vox tomorrow afternoon.

I've never heard you sing Bruce Style, if you can pull if off, I'll bow down to you...

temporary 01-26-2006 05:42 PM
You have a point. (Pain Of Salvation singer also plays guitar) so yeah. Listen to Pain Of Salvation if you ever get the chance. It's basically Dream Theater minus ott wanking and better vocals.

They don't necesserily have to play the instrumental live though. Did they ever play Losfer Words live?
Pain of Salvation sounds really good, if your description is acurrate. Any songs you can recomend?

I've always wan't to hear how they tackle Transylvania from A Real Dead One (same for Where Eagles Dare.)

Oh, and I wrote a review for Rock In Rio (the DVD) on sputnik. Go forth and read it, and then return and shower me with thy praise!

Joey_ 01-26-2006 07:30 PM

Is it just me, or am I the only one that doesn't like Dance of Death?

Deth 01-26-2006 07:37 PM

The album as a whole is pretty good, songs like Paschendale, Dance of Death, Journeyman, No More Lies, Montsegur and Rainmaker are great. The others are a little subpar.

Yeah, those are the songs I love too.

Overall, it'd be a terrible album if it wasn't for the epic songs mentioned above.

vashts80 01-26-2006 09:16 PM

Face is the Sand is fun to play bass along to. As is Rainmaker. I haven't attempted to learn Paschendale or Journeyman yet, since I'm trying to tab out a Nile song within the next month or so. :x

Kaiwaz 01-26-2006 09:37 PM

I can play parts of Paschendale, it's a great song.

ashman 01-26-2006 10:52 PM

Yeah it's great, it's 7/8 time as well, making it quite hard to get your head around if you don't know your theory (like me). Back in the day when I got lessons, I told my guitar teacher that no matter how hard I practised, I could never nail Paschendale (just the rhythm bit), so I brought the CD in and played it to him, he looked at me and said "That's in 7/8 time, of course you'd have a problem with that, now put that crap away and start listening to real music!"

Good times... :p
I'd say get Powerslave, its my favorite Maiden album along with Piece of Mind. The title track is my fav Maiden song after Hallowed.
I have that one. I have the first three Bruce albums. I have decided to get the Paul ones (if the music shop has both at the time) and get the concept albums later.

I much prefer face in the sand and age of innocence to Montésegur and rainmaker...

Ok i know were done talking about this but heres my two cents..................Some people are saying instrumentals dont work to well with concept albums? Well lets all take a look at ghengis kahn theres a instrumental that tells a story. It tells of Ghingis's(sp?)army going into battle, then pillaging (raping ect.), then going on to conqure(sp?, yah im a dumbass) other lands. So i think a instrumental would work great.

ANywho DOD, i though the album was great, the only two songs i though were crap was wildest dreams and gates of tommrow. Everything else was perfect.

Oh, and crag im uploading the second part of the blaze bootleg as we speak aswell as the Best of the B sides

Lord Abortion 01-27-2006 08:45 AM

I liked DOD alot...couldn't say any track on it was bad as such, bar No More lies, mayhap.

Vocals for t'trooper when I get in.

-The Frank 01-27-2006 08:56 AM

Lord Abortion 01-27-2006 09:00 AM

No one said that it wouldn't work, we just said that Bruce wouldn't like it. Also, Genghis Khan was a filler track, that was originally called Jenkins Barn :p

don't worry about my track, i was listening to it yesterday and i realized it sucks:p hence i'm gonna do it again. If you just get rid of my track and go with drums and bass i'll redo mine along with yours, if that makes sense:-/
