I'd rather go to Pearl Jam, but since Zimmereman is getting old, I have to go. He might come out with a new album!

PaulSimonon 10-25-2004 06:06 PM

By the way Funk, you hear Jack Irons's solo(ish) album? It's pretty cool. Very out there.

Omega Red 10-25-2004 06:07 PM

I wish i knew more good musicans id love to start a band

FUNKNBASS 10-25-2004 06:07 PM

No I havent gotten the chance. So its good? I thought it would be but I havent heard much feedback. Les CLaypools on there right?

EDIT: To Paul.

Wintermute 10-25-2004 06:08 PM

Yeah, I need to find a good singer and a good drummer. A guitarist wouldn't go amiss either. A friend of mine here is a guitarist, and quite a good one, but I'm not sure we work together so well musically.

It's fantastic, but between the bassists on it(Ament, Claypool, Flea), the bass lines weren't as good as they ought to be, but still pretty good. IT's very odd. I'll send it to you.

FREAKofNATURE 10-25-2004 06:10 PM

^i know what its like trying to find a good drummer, all the ones here suck. i have a really good guitarist and singer but we cant find a good drummer that will work out with us.

Wintermute 10-25-2004 06:12 PM

The annoying thing is a good friend of mine is a percussive phenomenon (though he wouldn't agree). The trouble is now we're at Uni he's in Aberystwyth.

PaulSimonon 10-25-2004 06:12 PM

I really enjoy the cover of Floyd's Shine on You Crazy Diamond with Claypool on bass and Vedder on vocals.

FUNKNBASS 10-25-2004 06:12 PM
I'll send it to you.
I'd really appreciate that Paul.

PaulSimonon 10-25-2004 06:13 PM

Hey Winter, you ever watch the show Hamish Macbeth? It's on the the BBC America, and is very interesting.

that sucks, too bad you guys arent with each other, im sure you would make a great band.

Wintermute 10-25-2004 06:14 PM

Never heard of it. Should I have?

(Aberystwyth is pronounced Ah-burr-wrist-with)

Jamie 10-25-2004 06:14 PM

^^^

Wintermute 10-25-2004 06:18 PM

It's a bedroom recording, so we only had one mike to do the drums with (Shure SM58)
It was over the front of the kit for most of the song. Except in the driving bridge, then it was dangled over Tom's toms. ( )

Also, we have no singer. We planned for a vocal variation towards the beginning, without which the intro can sound a little repetative.

FREAKofNATURE 10-25-2004 06:19 PM

the link didn't work winter.

Jamie 10-25-2004 06:19 PM

wintermute: your bass riff at the start is based on one of my old bands songs... (well the chorus of one song) and also "i hope you die" by bloodhound gang!

Wintermute 10-25-2004 06:20 PM

Try now. One of MX's latest tweaks has messed up links...

Never heard your band and I hate the Bloodhound gang. Not heard that song.

(It's only slapping octaves on a simple progression, it's bound to sound like something or other!)

FUNKNBASS 10-25-2004 06:22 PM

Im sorry Its just when I get home no one else is on so I just post a lot. Its a sickness, but Im going to meetings, I havent spemmed in 37 hours. My spam isnt much spam as it is semi-necessary comments like hello and good bye.

Jamie 10-25-2004 06:22 PM

i like when the distorted guitar kicks in on that song!

and whats that list of? posts in this casual thread?

Wintermute 10-25-2004 06:23 PM

Good, isn't it? Our drummer wrote that, he's also a bit of a riff-meister.

Yes, yes it is.

PaulSimonon 10-25-2004 06:23 PM

Yup.

gaslight 10-25-2004 06:23 PM

The link problem is easy to fix.

It's just because the new tweak means the musicianforums url gets put at the start of everything for some weird reason.

Just go the to url bar and chop off the front of the link and you're sweet.

:)

It works fine as long as you remember to include http:// in front of the url.

gaslight 10-25-2004 06:27 PM

Ahh... that too.

:amaze:

Wintermute 10-25-2004 06:29 PM

No clue why... Magic perhaps. It works, that's good enough for me.

Tryxx 10-25-2004 06:29 PM

I have a question... mostly to FUNKNBASS, and I didn't want to make a thread. I emailed Dave about the Avatar/Ashdown deals, what head would you guys suggest for the B212?

Another question if you're feeling like a good samaritan...suggest me a soundcard. Probably price range of 0-100 USD.

FUNKNBASS 10-25-2004 06:31 PM

A particular Ashdown head or anyhead. I would Say a GK either a 400 or 700 RB depending on your needs.

Tryxx 10-25-2004 06:33 PM

That's my question. Out of the Ashdown heads that the Avatar's come with, which would be best? I've had no experience with a cab myself and wasn't sure if the 300 could handle it, so I was wondering if I had to step it up to the 500.

FUNKNBASS 10-25-2004 06:35 PM

The 300 would be fine. Though I do recommend the 500 Watt Mark King (red one). It sounds fantastic and sounds like a much more expensive higher end head. Do they both fit into your budget. The 500 will also make it easier if you get another cab in the future.

Tryxx 10-25-2004 06:37 PM

My "budget" is debatable. If I could get rid of my Peavey TNT 115 which I've had probably a little over a month brand new, my BOSS PH-3 Phaser, and Xbox, games etc... I think my budget will come out pretty nice. I just want a decent idea at what I should realistically look at.

Omega Red 10-25-2004 06:40 PM

this

FUNKNBASS 10-25-2004 06:40 PM

If you want the best they have to offer the Mark King signature head would be the way to go. If you want a cheper 500+ watts then the ABM head would be great as well. It all depends on your needs and how far into the future you want to look.
