well that sure clears things up. those tricky bastards.

I think Houses of the Holy would have been great with any one of the songs starting it off. I think The Rain Song would have been the best closing song to that album. That songs awesome.

unclebobscircus 01-23-2005 06:24 PM

Spinal Tap was mediocre at worst, but when it was funny, it was the most hilarious movie ever. You have got to love the "more cushion, the sweeter the pushin'" song.

Woodstock 01-23-2005 06:25 PM

The Rain Song is greater than any other Zeppelin song. George Harrison loved Led Zeppelin, and he told Jimmy Page that they didn't write enough ballads. So, Zeppelin took Harrison's ballad, Here Comes The Sun, and made a ballad with the opposite meaning. Hence, The Rain Song.

I think it's a good song, but you really appreciate the genius of Jimmy Page once you learn how to play it. The guitar is tuned to open Gsus, which is (as far as I know) unique to that song.

Wow, I didn't know that

I think I like the live version more than the studio one. Maybe it was because I heard it first, but I feel the same way about the "How The West Was Won" version of The Immigrant Song.

Walrus Gumboot 01-23-2005 06:29 PM

Oh I forgot about Hendrix! He had the best intros I know of

Broken Arrow 01-23-2005 06:30 PM

[QUOTE=Schyma000]I like "The Empereor of Wyoming" (cant spell) Neil Young's 1st song as a solo artist.

No doubt.

Cool info Woodstock.:)

I have only heard Mississippi Queen by Mountain and it was good.

Illmatic 01-23-2005 06:31 PM

Best Led Zep song = Tangerine or That's The Way

But I don't want to turn this into another Zeppelin discussion, so I'll leave it that.

True, lets discuss some lesser known bands. How about CCR.

Not unknown. But listen to Cotton Fields. It's an old blues song or something like that, but CCR did a great version. The Beach Boys butchered it.

CCR is lovetacular. Willy and the Poor Boys is their best album, I think.

zventon 01-23-2005 06:53 PM

I was at the BB King blues club, and Mountain played. It was kick@$$. Corky Laing always throws drumsticks into the crowd, and i got one.

The only CCR songs I have on vinyl are Bayou Country and Willie and the Poorboys. I haven't been able to locate any more.

Against Miik! 01-23-2005 07:00 PM

Does everybody know about * They have CCRs entire library. You can only listen to it on your computer, but its better than nothing.

*Secret, my bad

Broken Arrow 01-23-2005 07:00 PM

So has anyone checked out Canned Heat after I mentioned them?

Woodstock 01-23-2005 07:00 PM

Yep, it's our "secret" listening site.

Illmatic 01-23-2005 07:01 PM

xsao.com is horrible...the sound quality is so crappy.

Against Miik! 01-23-2005 07:01 PM

Woodstock 01-23-2005 07:03 PM

The sound quality isn't that bad. Plus, I'd rather have it than nothing at all.

I like most of it, I think. I liked the show, there was this one part where he had a screen that had a picture of a billboard that said:
"SUPPORT OUR WAR!"
-ClearChannel-

and

"RE-ELECT OUR PRESIDENT!"
-Clear Channel-

I was quite pleased.

Yeah that's what I used to do.

Yeah I think you have to really like the blues to like Canned Heat.

Bob Hite had a record collection with more than 70 000 blues 78 rpm blues albums.

Points for anyone who knows who he is.

Johnny B. Good 01-23-2005 07:19 PM

Isn't bob hite Canned heats vocalist
