Yes I still post in S&L, but it also gets boring, and most of the times I don't feel like lurking all over the bad poetry to get something that sends chill down my spine.

Although I shoud do that again sometime.
Haha, yes, S&L has its perks here and there son.

Once more though, why are the horrid rap metal bands all breaking up? it's unfair!

Just finished watching The Player. Great self-referential movie about Hollywood in the 90's. The ending really took me off-guard. Didn't see it coming at all.

And now, given how my art-o-meter is always tuned the opposite of everyone else's, I'm expecting someone to say they just saw Final Destination 3.

I saw Pink Panther, so it's the same difference.

I actually was surprised, it wasnt as bad as I'd thought, and it also wasnt as childish as I'd imagined. There were some references to the old movies, although I felt they focused a little to hard on the whole accent thing. Steve Martin is no Peter Sellers, but hey, it was still decent. Beyonce should not act, though.

Beyonce shouldn't do anything.

Pink Panther displeased me.

It was disappointing if you compare it to the older ones (at least the ones with Peter Sellers), but I basically tried not to relate them.

If it's any consolation, my friends saw Final Destination 3 the other day, so you got to see a better movie. As I expected, they reported back to me that it was pure trash. A glorified snuff film with expensive gore effects.

How does garbage like that get greenlit aynway?

Better yet, HOW CAN YOU HAVE THREE FINAL DESTINATIONS.

Final Destination 4: No, really, we mean it this time.

Freezing Moon 02-14-2006 09:25 PM

Just wondering, has anybody been getting database error messages from this site every now and then lately?

Yeah it happens sometimes. I try to enter the site, and after a few times, it works.

You know they'll make it. And it will probably be in theaters for a week before going straight to DVD.

Every night, lasting anywhere between 5 minutes and an hour.

Freezing Moon 02-14-2006 09:28 PM

Alright, good to know I'm not the only one.

Yes, it's been happening a lot for some reason.

Cain 02-14-2006 09:43 PM

I have been getting them a lot as well.

Steerpike 02-14-2006 09:51 PM

Cain, have you looked in the beginner questions section of the guitar forum tonight?

A guy wanted songs to impress people (read: women) and just like last summer, almost all of the posts were guys who have an extremely low opinion of non-musicians.

I wonder why you, myself, and a handful of others are the only ones who seem to understand the difference between the perspective of a musician and non-musician.

The last movie I saw was...Sexy Beast (starring Ben Kingsley), like two days ago. What does that mean?

non-musicians are people? huh?

It's called Sexy Beast because when Gal was still in the gangster life he used be a "sexy beast". Early in the movie Don Logan was asking why he changed, he says Gal could have had any girl he wanted as they were falling over each other for him.

Good movie by the way. Kingsley kicks ass.

"NO! NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! NOT THIS TIME, GAL! NO NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO NO NO NO NO! NOT THIS FUCKING TIME!"

"Donnie doesn't do 'no'"

I didn't want to know what the title meant (although I am glad you explained it), I actually want to know what it meant in Steerpike's "Art Meter" theory.

Meh, they'll learn once they get their slaughtered reputations handed to them freshly cooked on a platter. Then they'll rebuild from scratch and do better.

Sometimes these young folks need to learn by doing. I also think we do forget how often girls DO respond to such lowbrow suggestions as "play Dashboard Confessional." Let's face it, kids don't always want long, fulfilling relationships. The deeper I get into mine, truth be told, the more I feel they aren't ready for it. It's long, hard work for whatever enjoyment I derive from it. :-/

Shadows 02-14-2006 11:51 PM

Only a real female can clear that matter up.

Hey Cain!

I suppose you're right. But it does get to me whenever I see such stereotypes being lauded around. Even back before I was a musician, I enjoyed hearing a couple peopel I knew play a few songs I liked on their guitars, but it was when they started blues improv that I was really impressed.

The problem is that although the person is smart, people are stupid. Stupid people seem to assume everyone else in the world is even dumber than them.

Ultimately, I don't know why I bother to do anything other than laugh at those people, though. I have my doubts whether or not they'll ever learn, and that's probably for the best.

Last time I checked this was musicianforums, but whatever.

Tonight really blew, I locked my myself out of my truck when I was at work. I didn't find out about until three hours after I got too work, and the enigne was still running. We had a massive rush, bigger then an average weekend rush, and had to work through it on a skeleton staff. Too top it all off, I am getting no poon tonight.

I pretty much thought it'd be an entertaining thing to watch, which obviously wouldn't stand up to it's predecessor so there's little point even thinking about it (like Sgt Bilko), and I'm glad you, having seen it, seem to think the same.

Bartender 02-15-2006 05:18 AM

A disconcerting start to any day.

What's it on?

Bartender 02-15-2006 05:32 AM

It's going quite well. My Modern Philosophy module has been just brilliant (combination of high quality lecturer, subject matter and tutor), and Philosophy of Religion is getting better as time goes by, too.

I'm still kind of hoping the same thing will happen with Language, though. Hoping everybody was wrong.

Bartender 02-15-2006 06:02 AM

It doesn't have any particular thinkers on the course, actually. For example, last week we had a lecture/tutorial on Pascal's Wager, but it was just the Wager; we didn't have to read anything more than excerpts by Pascal himself. So it's just about the ideas, rather than the philosophers. It's full title is 'Philosophy of Religion: The God Question II" (carrying on from the required Intro to.. course from first year), so I suppose that makes sense.

I'm not sure if I'd prefer it to concentrate on a few particular guys or not. Most of my favourite modules I've done so far (Theoretical, Political and Modern Philosophy) have done that, but this Religion module has actually turned out to tie in quite well with the Epistemology that I did last year, and the Modern Philosophy (Leibniz) which I'm doing this year. So I don't know. Not sure what you mean by the traditional stuff, but you rarely talk about a specific religion.

Language is notoriously the most torturous subject offered. I was basically warned about it by everyone who bothered to mention it. But it was a choice between that and continuing Logic, and since I hadn't much enjoyed logic (though ironically it turned out to be the thing I did best in last year) I though I'd try the alternative. So far though it's just pretty much been Logic, again :-/

Theory teacher isn't here...posting in school. Woooo.

I think I managed to blow up the computer too...
