whats the deal with Supertramp?

they seemed to be like a pop band who wrote unbeleivably great songs, and were great musicians. i have a few of their albums, my favourite is probably crime of the century, or breakfast in america. i realize calling them a pop band may have been a little pompous, but its true...if you listen to their albums, they had way more pop songs than rock songs. yet they were still a huge band in the seventies rock scene.

i think they are a great band. anyone else like them? anyone totally disagree with what i said?
i hate getting in arguments over music at school. it isn't bad on the internet, because you can show links to sites to show your facts, but if the internet/any resources arent handy, they can pass off all kinds of shit as facts.

i may have mentioned this before, but one time we were discussing Stairway to Heaven in english, and one kid said "didn't van halen write stairway?" and i kinda half flipped out on him. and then the teacher said "calm down jeff! led zeppelin didn't write it anyway...it was the other guy."

im not sure if she thought led zeppelin was a member of the band, or who the other guy was supposed to be, but i sure was angry because i really couldnt argue back.
good god, we got this afternoon off of school, so i wanted to go check out some Records to buy. At one oclock my brother got home with the car (we share one) and i asked him if he needed it anymore. he said he needed it to go out for lunch. he didn't come back with it until right now, (3:30 where i live). now i have to drive like a madman to make it before the store closes.

i will inform you guys on what i bought when i come back. stay tuned.
oh and i finally read badmoons featured artist on the Grateful Dead. I dunno how long ago he did that, but i just read it. its good. anyone who hasnt read it should check it out. (Other Music)
I can actually prove some of the facts on that wrong. A lot of the older sources I use to read about Jerry Garcia and The Grateful did were wrong. Soory :upset:
Well, I've been told classic rock ends at '79. That's a while before grunge began in full.
I think classic rock ends in the early 80's. Some of Floyd, Rush, ect. was released in the 80's.

I ordered Happy Trails from Amazon. I hope it's good.

Creedence Clearwater 12-08-2004 06:15 PM
My teacher brought that up today, and then this little bitch kid started talking about his "knowledge" of classic music. What it boiled down to was that he "hates when people call Twisted Sister one hit wonders", he's so excited that Motely Crue is getting back together, he hates Pink Floyd and "acid rock" (which I don't really consider them anyways), and he thinks Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and John Lennon are all overrated. I was so enraged I could not concentrate on class for the rest of the hour. I hope I see him in the parking lot after school. I really want to hit him with a bat.
That was a funny story, maybe you should attack him in classic rock themed way. ie. hit him with flaming guitar or something.

I was gonna go with steel bat, but flaming guitar is much more symbolic. I'll do that tomorrow.

Yea but then you have to waste a guitar.

I just kinda realized it after I had typed it, so bolded and underlined and sized up the letters.

Weren't you going to get a Tele?

BludgeonySteve 12-08-2004 07:00 PM

Teles are like country guitars.

Or so i've heard :shiftyeyez:

Badmoon 12-08-2004 07:42 PM
Weren't you going to get a Tele?
Yes, I should be getting it for Christmas. Though I had to pay for some of it :(.

thickasabrick 12-08-2004 07:43 PM

teles are great guitars, and yes they are used a lot in country.

so im mad at my record store...they totally overprice all the big name artists, they have like 25 horrible condition beatles records for 50 bucks each, same with Dylan records. luckily they were selling Beach Boys and Grateful Dead records for surprisingly cheap, so i got a Beach Boys greatest hits (i wanted pet sounds but they didn't have it) and Workingmans Dead (no american beauty) for about 20 bucks.

thickasabrick 12-08-2004 07:44 PM

do you know what kind it is? what pickups?

Badmoon 12-08-2004 07:46 PM

We should start an album trading cycle.

We will all trade through AIM (all must up date their versions), and we'll pass it off one by one. For instance, I'll pass it to RocknotRoll, and then he'll pass it to Lunch, and then he'll pass it to someone else.

That'd work good.
