Pixies.

The Modern Lovers - The Modern Lovers

This is slowly becoming one of my favorite post punk albums.

Kayetan 12-06-2006 06:44 PM

Tom Waits- Closing Time

I'd forgotten how relaxing this album is, if one is in the mood for it.
Yann Tiersen - L'Absente
I love this man, but I think I like his compositions alone better than hearing people sing with his playing (even if it is in French). Nevertheless, this album's nice.
Yes, very much a good album.
We listen to this cassette at work alot.
Yeah, it's nice. Where do you work? Maybe I'll get a job there with you and Tom.

AlienEater 12-07-2006 09:31 AM

I've been digging a bunch of early Jesus and Mary Chain singles. They are rather good.

Also The Dead C - Trapdoor ****ing Exit I'm pretty sure it's their best.

asymm 12-07-2006 12:12 PM

Brian Eno & Harold Budd - The Pearl
In The Country - Losing Stones, Collecting Bones
Supersilent - 7

I made a last.fm account last night and it did the first update a few minutes ago:

Ryan Adams 8
Funkadelic 7
Ghostland Observatory 6
Elvis Presley 5
King Crimson 5
The Boy Least Likely To 5
Dean Martin 4
Gogol Bordello 3
Frank Sinatra 3
Clint Mansell;Kronos Quartet 3

Today I have been listening to Sage Francis - Personal Journals. I had a few random tracks off this one for awhile. It's nice to have the whole album now, I like this guy.

Very gooooooooooood.

Kayetan 12-07-2006 03:06 PM

Little Wings- Magic Wand

I love this album so much. It's nice, and simple, and warm, and other good things.

I might try to install last.fm again.
why does it always take forever for it to update for me?

Don't talk to Eliminator that way, please.

pixiesfanyo 12-07-2006 03:18 PM

Why did you say the name TOM Kayetan?

_Mote_ 12-07-2006 03:19 PM

... No.

And I'm listening to the Jesus and Mary Chain - 21 Singles as of this moment

Little Man being Erased 12-07-2006 03:25 PM

pixiesfan was talking about listening to Tom Waits at work...

Yeah, you, Tom waits, and I will work together at the restaurant where you are employed.

Pilot Speed - Barely Listening...

Yar, this song sucks.

Eliminator 12-07-2006 03:46 PM
Don't talk to Eliminator that way, please.
it's very disrespectful

_Mote_ 12-07-2006 03:49 PM

Eliminator 12-07-2006 03:50 PM

ATM 12-07-2006 04:56 PM

Beck - Sea Change
Stevie Wonder - Innervisions

Happymeal 12-07-2006 05:21 PM

Masada - Live at Tonic

I've never mustered enough patience to listen to the whole thing until now, and at the end I realized such a rewarding, albeit tiring, experience this album is.

Eliminator 12-07-2006 05:49 PM

god, dinosaur jr kick so much ***

sr800bkBassist 12-07-2006 06:02 PM

i saw this folk punk band last night called Shakey Bones. they all dressed like hobos out of the great depression, with suspenders and worn out clothes/hats etc. and their drummer was so punk that instead of drumsticks he used his left fist and a knife in his right hand. up the punx. drumming with your fist and a knife > everything else.

asdf 12-07-2006 06:27 PM

That sounds like a fun show.

I was going to see Harley Poe, but a snowstorm and lack of car prevented it.

I just hope I can make an excellent road trip to see Gogol Bordello next weekend.

sr800bkBassist 12-07-2006 06:35 PM

yeah they were playing with Captain Chaos and Paul Baribeau as well but i had to leave at 10 so i missed both of them. which sucked. but at least i saw a couple bands.

Zebra 12-07-2006 08:19 PM

R.E.M. - Automatic for the People

I haven't listened to this in a while and I must say that the second half is way stronger than the first. The last three tracks are some of the bands best songs, this isn't their high point but it's still a very impressive album.

biografiend 12-07-2006 09:02 PM

I've been really wanting more ethreal lady vocals, a la Cocteau Twins (more specifically Treasure), First Nation, Lush, Stereolab, or just more female singers in general, really. help plz.

Radio Dept. - Pet Grief

Zmev 12-07-2006 09:29 PM

Go for more Frenchies. Francoise Hardy, Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin all worked the whole sensual, breathy chanteuse angle. Give them a try if you haven't already. Maybe Jennifer Charles/Elysian Fields too, if you don't mind the kind of goth overtones.

sexymuffin 12-07-2006 10:37 PM

Frog Eyes - The Horse Used to Wear A Crown

easily one of the better songs to put you in a very nuetral feeling. Great for depression, bad for times you feel good.
