Ac/dc is the only band I know :(. What are other 70s australian bands?

edit: oh

Badmoon 12-07-2004 09:39 PM
String Cheese Incident
moe.
They're not Classic Rock though. Especially String Cheese, they're Prog-Bluegrass with some Funk-Lation :p. And moe., is just different. :)

pjdeadhead34 12-07-2004 10:00 PM

What does everybody think of Pearl Jam, they get overlooked alot, they are better than Nirvana by far.

Ease up.

Pearljam isn't classic rock. We don't talk about them here. However you can make a thread for them.

RockAndRoll 12-07-2004 10:22 PM

Eddy Vedder with the Who = good.

Have you heard the live at the royal albert hall Album with him on it then?

LouReed_is_Jesus 12-08-2004 12:05 AM

Yeah, their album "Ogden's Nut Gone Flake" [Small Faces] has a pretty kickass title track, not to mention overall, style and technique...in my opinion, Small Faces are one of the better Mod-pop bands to come out of the UK.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALSO, I was wondering what anyone thinks of Tom Waits' aproach to music...I think his fusion of 40's lounge jazz with rock-esque elements in fascinating. If you havent heard of him, definitely try his stuff out :thumb: :naughty:

strange... I thought they were??

I've been considering the grunge bands as classic rock, but now that I think about it, they're obviously not.

who likes the doors?

Riva 12-08-2004 04:46 AM

Well, I've been told classic rock ends at '79. That's a while before grunge began in full.

Addicted2MyGuitar 12-08-2004 08:50 AM
Classic rock is by far the best kind of music.

Why did I have to be born in the late 80s? :upset: I'll never get to see Zeppelin in concert.
I feel your pain. :upset: :upset: I LOVE Led Zeppelin, and I, too, was born in the late 80s. The weird thing is neither of my parents are Zep fans. I like some modern rock too, but probably not as much as the classic bands.

Favorite classic bands:
Led Zeppelin
The Who
Scorpions
The Beatles
AC/DC
Metallica
Iron Maiden
Black Sabbath
Aerosmith
Motley Crue
Elvis Presley

Van halen is the best rock band ever, the things thnat man can do while he is smoking a cigerette are amazing!

thickasabrick 12-08-2004 09:33 AM

man we've had a bunch of new members in here since i came on yesterday...

poundcake...if you plan on visiting this site regularly, i suggest you don't make two posts saying the exact same thing. especially about van halen.

yesterday me and my guitar teacher were playing some bluegrass songs, and he was playing harmony. i told him i started listening to the grateful dead and i noticed they do a lot of harmony with some good bluegrass roots, and he told me he used to be the hugest deadhead. i knew he was a fan of bluegrass and folk,as well as some blues, but i didn't know he liked the dead. he said he saw a few of their shows in the early seventies and they were his favourite live band.

and addicted2myguitar: i wouldn't really consider Metallica classic rock, i dont care if you are a fan of theirs, but this isnt the right thread to discuss them. motley crue is pushing the limit as well.

gmoneyguy 12-08-2004 10:09 AM

Way to keep those noobs in line.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to thickasabrick again.

sorry.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 12-08-2004 11:23 AM

John Lennon died 24 years ago today try to play only John Lennon\Beatles to respect the greatest musical mind the world has seen. :upset:

John Lennon Forever.

magicbus 12-08-2004 11:54 AM

My teacher brought that up today, and then this little bitch kid started talking about his "knowledge" of classic music. What it boiled down to was that he "hates when people call Twisted Sister one hit wonders", he's so excited that Motely Crue is getting back together, he hates Pink Floyd and "acid rock" (which I don't really consider them anyways), and he thinks Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and John Lennon are all overrated. I was so enraged I could not concentrate on class for the rest of the hour. I hope I see him in the parking lot after school. I really want to hit him with a bat.

i hate getting in arguments over music at school. it isn't bad on the internet, because you can show links to sites to show your facts, but if the internet/any resources arent handy, they can pass off all kinds of shit as facts.

i may have mentioned this before, but one time we were discussing Stairway to Heaven in english, and one kid said "didn't van halen write stairway?" and i kinda half flipped out on him. and then the teacher said "calm down jeff! led zeppelin didn't write it anyway...it was the other guy."

im not sure if she thought led zeppelin was a member of the band, or who the other guy was supposed to be, but i sure was angry because i really couldnt argue back.

Steff 12-08-2004 12:31 PM

nope, not immigrant song, but thanx for helping me !

The saddest thing I've noticed is that it's slowly become more acceptable to like hair metal, which was an abomination in the 80's and still sucks just as bad today.

ya that's true. there were bands i find enjoyable, like van halen and guns n roses, def leppard maybe. but things like Warrent, RATT, i can't even think of anymore but you know what i mean. they totally over-cheesified rock.

hey steff stick around and chat, what bands are you into? do you play any instruments?
thickasabrick voted stairway. Sad day :(
damn straight. i think the choices up there sucked though. even the crappiest metal song could make it to the top ten just because all the metalheads would rather vote for it than a good rock song.
everyones afraid to vote for stairway because they will be called a noob, or a fanboy or something.

i was very torn between the two Floyd songs, so i figured Stairway would solve those problems. Face it, it is a good song.
