I think Phil Lesh has some pretty good grooves.

yeah, but compared to the allman brothers, who showed more talent

In their heyday Bobweirser was one fine guitar player, and Phil Lesh was an amazing bassist, but do you realize how many drugs those two probably have done, it has to slow down your skills a bit.

Badmoon 12-07-2004 08:48 PM

Once again, not to be repetive, I still wouldn't say that. Personally, I think it's debatable that Duane was better than Jerry. Personally (I've heard them solo side by side) I'd call it practically even. Phil Lesg is surely a better bassist than Berry Oakley. Each band's singer aren't technically great, Kreutzmann and Hart were much more risky on the drums than Jaimoe and Trucks. I will say that Dickey Betts is a better guitarist than Bob Weir. As for the keyboardists, The Grateful Dead have had some more talented than Gregg, and some most certainly not.

/ALL OPINION!!!!

Phil Lesh is looked upon as one of the greatest bassists ever. His style was at one time arguably one of a kind, and his musical knowledge is incredibly great. Not a bad voice either.
Yea buddy, im in high school, and i've been to the dead 3 times, phish once, allman brothers, ccr, fogerty, there's nothing like listening to some classic rock hammered. Classic rock is definitely making a come back, now today's musicians need to start playing it again, and not that trash that is on the radio these days. There's only a few good bands left these days now that Phish is broken up, even though they will definitely come back someday.
I forgot frampton and crosby, stills, and nash

LouReed_is_Jesus 12-07-2004 08:53 PM

I agree with you all...but what about:
-The Small Faces
-The Velvet Underground (and Nico)
-Lynyrd Skynrd
and...
-Bob Dylan?

Badmoon 12-07-2004 08:54 PM

Small Faces...not mentioned. Good call :thumb:

And don't fool around with the all too common "You have too much time on your hands" statement. You aswell as us, are on an internet forum talking to random people we have never met. We are all wasting our time, and could be doing better things.
Actually you have no idea...I've just needed to place to talk about classic rock..to vent about it..but most people here just kiss your *** and take everything you say like a religion. And try comparing my 130 posts to you 10,000+ including lengthy Cd reviews and stuff. I'm not your average person wasting time on the net. But I've come to the assumption that everyone on forums like these think they are all know-it-alls and pricks who will argue with the door if it slams behind them.

pjdeadhead34 12-07-2004 08:58 PM

Can we consider Phish classic rock? I've always wondered that

Badmoon 12-07-2004 08:59 PM

No, they are not. Gov't Mule is one of the only Jam Bands you can.

RockAndRoll 12-07-2004 09:00 PM

Shouldn't be too worried with classification anyways.

pjdeadhead34 12-07-2004 09:01 PM

I missed their show when they came around here this year, sold out, Warren is amazing, i saw him with the Dead at least, and Allman Brothers, what's the young slid guitarist in the ABB, Derek Flakes maybe?? That kid can play

Do you guys like Robin Trower?

Badmoon 12-07-2004 09:10 PM

 Power, ha, have you seen how many fights I get into? I have been the victim of many attacks from every regular here. But after time, I am forgiven. Which makes sense, I do give songs, rep points, albums, ect, to them whenever I can, and even appologize.

But what can I say, I'm superior

pjdeadhead34 12-07-2004 09:18 PM

RockAndRoll 12-07-2004 09:20 PM

Err, no spamming the thread please.

Jam bands that are considered rock: The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers, Gov't Mule.

I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones that i've heard of.

Little Feat, but they are more of a large influence on the 1st official wave of Jam bands (Phish, Panic, ect).

Freddie9 12-07-2004 09:27 PM
