I saw a Metallica tab book in a local music shop a few weeks ago. Would you say it is worth buying or should I just stick to MX tabs ?

Six Foot Revolver 03-07-2005 04:26 PM
I have:
KEA
MOP
Black album
I have found them to be very accurate, more accurate then mx or other internet tabs.
Our rhythm guitarist got the KEA tab book, he has not complaints about that. I photocopied some of the book, and everything I saw was fine, so good tab book aswell.
Well tell me... how is the Blackened main riff ( the one just after the backwards intro) ?

SKoRioN 03-07-2005 04:29 PM

I might have to look into getting some tab books then.
I'm only a beginner so I suppose it doesn't matter that much right now as I can't even do most of what will be in the books anyway but with a bit of practice....ah who am I kidding.

I saw a beginners book the other day, with simplified version of Enter Sandman, Nothing Else, Fade to Black, Unforgiven and One... pretty good for learning... it had a CD with backing tracks too...

man, don't give up like that. You could be good one day, and if you give up, you'll never know! You have to put in a lot of hard work man, but it will pay off for sure.

By the way, sick avatar, I have a poster of that on my wall :p

willis2441 03-07-2005 05:33 PM

if you like anything besides only enter sandman your not a poser

metal_milita 03-07-2005 07:37 PM
i personally think that website sucks...there are sites with a TON of more information on metallica than it (www.metallicaworld.co.uk)

i think that metallica.com would be really kickass if the actual band themselves made it
u'd be surprised. even wikepedia (or something) kicks ***. it covers practically anything i can think of about metallica/their music/albums/events etc

metal_milita 03-07-2005 07:44 PM
if you like anything besides only enter sandman your not a poser
not really true... as a matter of fact not true at all

Joe 03-07-2005 07:46 PM

you can like enter sandman, but if its the only thing you like your hardly a metallica fan

PepsiMetal 03-07-2005 08:21 PM

How can you be a poser by liking a song? I mean sure I can agree that if you like just one metallica song, you're not really a fan, but poser? Come on. It's not like Im going on national TV announcing that I like enter sandman. But I do like most of metallica's songs though.

willis2441 03-07-2005 08:24 PM

i really dont consider people posers if they like enter sandman or king nothing.but if they say they know everything about metallica and they dont then their a poser.but if they just like one song from them they probly havent heard anything else.i dont like to put people in groups,i hang out with anyone if their cool :thumb:

But it's enter sandman, there biggest but far from best hit. That's what i mean. if the ONLY song you've heard is enter sandman, i don't think you can call yourself a fan. It's like saying your a zeppelin fan but only ever hearing stairway.

Rasta Rocker 03-07-2005 08:38 PM

I was a Zeppelin fan for a while, and hadn't listened to stairway....

just a little fun fact for you all

but thats what i mean. you cannot call yourself a zeppelin fan if all you have heard is stairway. if you've heard more and dont like it then your hardly a fan

There are a lot of posers in life (i may be one on certain issues) i think it gets annoying to have people tell you that your wrong about something and they have no clue what they are talking about

Most of those books, or the ones ive seen arent actually "official". They are just really accurate, but they arent actually puut out by the band.

The ones with the full page cover like the album are good, and look on the back

guitarloser 03-07-2005 09:16 PM

i've never used an official tab book, i just get them off the web

KILO5203 03-07-2005 09:41 PM

I learned Creeping Death today. It's not as hard as I was expecting.

willis2441 03-07-2005 11:00 PM

i dont know how to read drum tabs :upset: i just learn by ear

Huber 03-08-2005 12:08 AM

Drum tabs are awful. Sheet music is far superior. Learning to read music is key.
