Nostalgia 10-13-2007 08:03 PM

Yeah, all mailing lists should be down.

Kage 10-13-2007 08:03 PM

Nah, not really.

Nostalgia 10-13-2007 08:05 PM

Just shut down Alt/Indie's list.

Kage 10-13-2007 08:07 PM

No need to rain on other people's parades just because jrowa001 fucked us over.

Nostalgia 10-13-2007 08:08 PM

Fine, ban him.

gmoneyguy 10-13-2007 08:09 PM

It really could have happened to any of us.

pate 10-13-2007 08:10 PM

We shut ours down so they should have to do the same.

Theirs didn't get complaints from record companies.

Anglachel 10-13-2007 10:40 PM

Simply because they arent metal. So the guy doesnt really care about stopping piracy, he just wants to bug us for his crap. Therefore, don't send any ProgRock releases out and we'll be fine.

EDIT: And we only had one album from ProgRock upped, right when we got emails, right? jrowas a snitch? amirite? just throwing that out there.

Yes, but as a result of the complaints, the mx anti-piracy policy was reiterated.

That policy Jom posted a few days back has been in effect since 2004, and mailing lists all over the forum have existed since then. I don't recall any mods ordering Deth/Angmar to stop it either, I'm pretty sure they did that themselves.

All I see from your posts is:

"MOOOMMMM BOBBY CAN GO OUT AT 10 BUT I CANT MAKE HIM STAY HOME TOO"

We only explain our position as moderators on the forum, and how we represent Jeremy/mx and the best interests of both him and his site. I have double responsibility since I maintain the reviews site with some cool kids, but I also have additional responsibilities with SOP because we do a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff. So, we represent Jeremy, and he trusts us not to be morons.

Okay, so Dave does most of that aforementioned behind-the-scenes stuff while I focus on the reviews site more, but it is our position as R&M moderators (Jelle, Riva, Barkeep, Vince, and company) to do our best to remove copyrighted material from the site. We can't catch everything, but I posted that 2004 ruling to serve as a reminder that users have to practice good faith, but also to not engage in illegal filesharing directly on the forums.

Permanent Solution 10-14-2007 11:43 AM

I am sort of appalled by the number of people complaining that one illegal source of music for them has been taken away.

I wasn't aware I was moderating a pre-school.

pate 10-14-2007 11:45 AM

I don't even care about it ending. I got like one album from it in the last 8 months. I just think that the other forums should cease and desist.

I agree with this. I hardly used the DU too, it barely effects me.

Stoic 10-14-2007 11:47 AM

They're complaining because apparently this happened exclusively in R&M. Complaints were made about posting YSI links back in the day. It wouldn't make sense to ban them only in particular sub-forums, would it?

Then go complain about it in the other forums. It's kinda annoying you guys think that the R&M mod staff should police the whole site.

I'll throw a thread in the mod forum (which no one reads) I guess but if you want actual results you need to go bug the mods of those other forums tbh.

Stormrider 10-14-2007 04:37 PM

superpeer 10-14-2007 04:39 PM

O:)

I'll change it to the right thing when I'm bored again.

Stormrider 10-14-2007 04:40 PM

Hahah

you bored yet?

you know, I can always bother you on msn <_<

superpeer 10-14-2007 04:43 PM

No, presently, I am still too amused by your name.

And you should've bothered me on MSN in the first place, I didn't even know you wanted a name change until you sent your boy lover Austin at me. =[

superpeer 10-14-2007 04:53 PM

Ireland is in Europe, you alcoholic.

superpeer 10-14-2007 05:06 PM

I don't know, but I bet it has something to with whiskey and beer!

pate 10-14-2007 05:14 PM

 gg Jelle

superpeer 10-14-2007 05:16 PM

I'm sorry. :( At least you'll still get drunk.

Have some rep.

Bartender totally ninja deleted his post too, I thought I could beat him, but he was faster. :(

Should've taken a screenshot.

Tyler 10-14-2007 05:18 PM

What did it say?

superpeer 10-14-2007 05:20 PM

I don't know. I only quickly looked over it and then got to ninja deleting, but failed. Something about an Irish way. So probably whiskey and beer.
