Six Foot Revolver 02-08-2005 03:16 PM
Touche, but that's argueable. I think that their music is deep and original, so I like it a lot, plus if I hear one more thing about how their guitarists suck, I'm going to say: Their music isn't melodic or anything cause it's meant to sound ugly, and meant to be rhythmic, rather than the basic rhythm/lead combo.
The guitarist sucks and it is melodic
Slipknot never claimed to be satanic. They thank God on their albums thanks. Volume 3 is a liked album, if you don't like it don't listen. It's no big deal.
Really?

What's with the pentagrams and what not? I always took it as one of those misenterpratations between pagans and satanists..... my bust.

Six Foot Revolver 02-08-2005 03:17 PM
I like how you ripped that off of that Dimmu Borgir thread.
I do too :)

I had actually posted that right after posting in that thread, cause it was on my mind and I still fealt like ranting.

And to MXican, no, Munky and Head do not suck, listen to their stuff on the LAPD albums.

I must agree. Just because a musician doesn't show his skill in his music, doesn't mean he doesn't have the skill. The music simply calls for the simpler things that they play now.

Yes, I must say with Slipknot's new album, some of the solos were very impressive :thumb:

But you don't give a medal to a runner that might be fast, but just doesn't run fast.
But you don't give a medal to a runner that might be fast, but just doesn't run fast.
Yeah, but I don't think anyone ever gave Korn's guitarist a medal. That'd be ridiculous.

superpeer 02-08-2005 03:26 PM
Yeah, but I don't think anyone ever gave Korn's guitarist a medal. That'd be ridiculous.
It's a metaphor. They've had plenty of awards.

It's a metaphor. They've had plenty of awards and they've made plenty magazine lists.

Yes, but that's a difference, with sports there is a specific goal, with music, it is just artistic expression.

I'm not talking about music, I'm talking about technical skill.

LATE!

I dislike Korn. However, I love corn.
I'm not talking about music, I'm talking about technical skill.
Well true, but if you look at what they do, it's not about technical skill, it's about creativity, it's modern music, much like John Cage (but not nearly as ingenious/creative).

But 'a good guitarist' is usually referring to a technically proficient guitarist. Otherwise you say creative guitarist.

That doesn't change the fact that I like corn.

well then Munky and Head would fit both ratings right? sure they've gotten awards for songs undeserving (such as Freak On A Leash) but they still are good guitariststs.

jpj 02-08-2005 03:37 PM

But their names are Munky and Head.

Broken Arrow 02-08-2005 03:38 PM

About what? That their names are Munky and Head?

Not really, the only KoRn songs I like are the singles, the rest of the album tends to be filler. So I might buy the Greatest hits if I find it for a very cheap price, so I must never buy a Korn Album again.

Six Foot Revolver 02-08-2005 03:40 PM
But their names are Munky and Head.
 jpj has a point

Broken Arrow 02-08-2005 03:41 PM
You didn't know?
Acctually I didn't.

i am the robots 02-08-2005 03:43 PM

Don't know where Head came from, but Munky is because he apparently has monkey-like feat, and Fieldy is short for his middle name Garfield, a name his grandmother referred to him as.

I think a lot of the difference between the guitar playing in pre-Niedermeinders Brain and post-Niedermeinders Brain has to do with abuse of speed....

Broken Arrow 02-08-2005 03:45 PM

So is this how Munky Magic got his name or does he hate Korn too?
