wow I'm digging Matt McGachy's growling

I'm seeing them live april 11 so I hope he doesn't **** up the good Cryptopsy songs

masscows 03-18-2008 08:11 PM

Listening to the new Belphegor now. It's great so far; not as 'dark' as Pestapokalypse or Goatreich though.

And it's probably more predictable than an episode of pokemon.

masscows 03-18-2008 08:36 PM

Meh, this is kind of average. The first 2 songs are great but after that it's just really uninspired and boring. Pestapokalypse and Goatreich are both WAY better.

Still need to listen to the last 2 songs but I'm too bored right now.
I think he did. He's still a tool but that song was totally different than the nu-metal garbage that "leaked".
I don't think that youtube version of Bemoan the Martyr I heard earlier could possibly be a real Cryptopsy song now that I've listened to the official song on Cryptopsy's myspace. On Bemoan the Martyr it doesn't sound like the drums are trying to be the in the spotlight which is a major tip off that it probably isn't a real Cryptopsy song. Plus the drums also sounded way too simple which is very unlike anything I've heard from Mr. Mounier.

And the official song could almost be good. It's just not unfortunately.

Tyler 03-18-2008 10:06 PM

I dont mind the new vocalist to be honest. Hes not great but let's face it 2/3 times neither was Lord Worm. It's the guitarz that kill it.

The_Oath 03-18-2008 10:20 PM

I grieve for my Cryptopsy.

publicastration 03-19-2008 02:38 AM

New Cryptopsy is decent but they really should have changed their name.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-19-2008 03:22 AM

lol

the new song isn't anywhere near different enough to warrant a name change.

publicastration 03-19-2008 03:39 AM

It's nearly deathcore though.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-19-2008 03:45 AM

massive difference, that.

Referring back to the Nile conversation a few pages back, a friend gaveme Black Seeds... as a birthday present and, whilst I'll agree the songwriting is at times sloppy and that it has a couple of mediocre tracks, notably The Black Flame, it's pretty enjoyable overall, though not a 'classic'. And Masturbating The War God, retarded title aside, is one of the better songs on it.

this. although if Bemoan the Martyr is a real Cryptopsy song then I mind, because the vocals really sucked on that one.

VomitStainedCretin 03-19-2008 05:30 AM

Listened to new Crytopsy - ultra bland/generic, no distinct sound now distinguishing them from a host of other groups.

That's the first album of theirs that I got and one of the first death metal albums I ever got. I liked it at first cause it is so over the top compared to the screamo and nu metal that I listened to at the time.

I have one word to describe new Cryptopsy and it starts with a J.

Jizztastic?

Deth 03-19-2008 09:01 AM

What's up with the stupid tech runs on guitar? Are they trying to channel Dillinger or something?

Juggalo.

Anyone like/heard Iniquity? I'm digging Serenadium, its definitely not an "essential" but a good listen nonetheless.

Get their album Grime, I like it a lot better. The rhythm section is much more punishing, the vocals kick more ***, and it has one of my favorite ever death metal songs on it, The Bullet's Breath:

edit: that vid is real out of sync

New Arghoslent slays.

i am the robots 03-19-2008 11:21 PM

thats racist

Txus 03-19-2008 11:25 PM

New Arghoslent is so ****ing good, I listened to the album 5 times today....man, the riffs are so catchy and good and the lyrics are much much better now.

Hrimthursum 03-19-2008 11:28 PM

Indeed. I just picked up the new Arghoslent upon Tyler's recommendation and it's really quite good.

i am the robots 03-19-2008 11:29 PM

Foreasmuch, this Arghoslent album pales in comparison to the brutaliataritism of Incorrigible Ballertry.

Txus 03-19-2008 11:30 PM

Nah, I think I like this one a little LITTLE bit more. Idk, though....Incorrigible is a masterpiece.

i am the robots 03-19-2008 11:31 PM

I like both, I just wanted to be pretentious too.

Hrimthursum 03-19-2008 11:31 PM

I actually haven't heard any other Arghoslent, TBH. But I really like this one.

Mappy: since when is using proper English pretentious? I was just stating I liked the album. Don't be such a dick.

Txus 03-19-2008 11:32 PM

oh, cool mappy.

i am the robots 03-19-2008 11:33 PM

im listening top pussycore right now, tbh

ninjamonkey 03-19-2008 11:37 PM
