Mr Herb 08-07-2005 11:49 AM

Whyd maynard use the wrong technique? dumb bastard

Adam Jones is GOD 08-07-2005 11:57 AM
Adam's tone can be nearly impossible to replicate, but to come close isn't too tough.
Darn straight. Unless you work a very well paying job, can get in touch with some rare suppliers, and have a girlfriend who mantains her legs well, you'll only come close.

Mr Herb 08-07-2005 12:00 PM

:lol::lol: Cam is very perdy.

Does anybody know his complete effects setup?
Does anybody know his complete effects setup?
No, but I did find a great diary site off one of Adam's friends, which had pictures of his attic with ALL his pedals spread out everywhere. It showed some really odd htings, like school style ammeters and some old looking pedals that looked modded.

Trouble is, I dont think that site keeps entries uploaded for more than a month, so I cant even find the site now. Which is a shame.

Mr Herb 08-07-2005 12:13 PM

a comment on coldplay, i gotta say Chris Martin and the bassist, Guy Berryman or something like that are the most talented 2 on the whole band :)

Syncratic 08-07-2005 12:16 PM

Chris Martin is a narcissist and I'm not the biggest fan of his lyrics.

His voice? Not bad.

His dancing on the Speed of Sound video? ****ing ridiculous.

Mr Herb 08-07-2005 12:23 PM

Dunno, hes lyrics arent special, hes just mroe talented than their drummer and gutiarist at what he does. And the bassist, Id say hes the most talented in the bunch. A few of his lines have surprised me, not that they are hard. just simply more than I expect from such a popish band

Adam Jones is GOD 08-07-2005 12:26 PM

I always remember that, to celebrate the release of Parachutes, he went out and got singing lessons*.

*facts may not be entirely accurate)

Parachutes was there best record, they will never write a song better than shiver, the countermelodies and rhythms in that song are great.

Mr Herb 08-07-2005 12:30 PM

Yeah, parachtues had great songs like shiver, yellow, dont panic. The new cd has 1 or 2 decent songs

Adam Jones is GOD 08-07-2005 12:31 PM

Parachutes is great, I agree. They fully admitted after making it that they were sure they could never produce another album anywhere near that quality.

Yellow is still my favourite track.

Mr Herb 08-07-2005 12:32 PM

Yeah.

A rush of blood to the head wasnt bad really, clocks is easy and yeah repoetitive but I dunno, its a perdy special song

clearvision 08-07-2005 01:04 PM

ROBTTH was pants, i enjoyed the singles apart from god put a smile upon your face, and I also enjoyed green eyes, other than that it's pretty poor. X & Y has 1 good song, talk. That is all.

The Flabbit Rides High 08-07-2005 02:43 PM

Adam Jones is GOD 08-07-2005 02:44 PM
April?
Educated guess.

My tool lines have been quiet for a while now, I could do with a new update. :(
Parachutes was there best record, they will never write a song better than shiver, the countermelodies and rhythms in that song are great.
So true...
There's nothing hard about screaming. Maynard just used the wrong technique and had crapped his voice out for three weeks. Also getting a drummer for any Tool song is hard.
Obviously Maynard knows how to scream, but I think he was literally pissed off when recording that song, and ended up just letting go, instead of doing it properly

Darkness 08-07-2005 04:28 PM

Yeah the man knows how to scream... look at The Grudge.

Moses 08-07-2005 04:53 PM

He went for a different approach for the Ticks and Leeches scream. If you scream correctly it shouldn't wreck your voice for three weeks. Also I believe The Grudge was recorded after Ticks and Leeches.

denboy 08-07-2005 04:56 PM

Like I said, I just think he was litterally extremely pissed off recording that song.. It seems so sincere..
As far as I know, it's aimed at the recording industry

Syncratic 08-07-2005 04:57 PM

Nah...at the end of the recording process, the vocals for Ticks and Leeches were all that needed to be finished, and Maynard recorded it last of all, probably for the express purpose of not want to **** up any other tracks.

He purposely screamed like that, so........

Moses 08-07-2005 05:02 PM

Well the technique he was trying to emulate was done wrong. That scream is actually the easiest kind for me aside for the death growl. Also his voice isn't the strongest so that might have somthing to do with it.
