Elvis 405 is the band's name. They're a pop-punk band that got attention briefly in the mid-90s because the number in their name is the area code for Oklahoma City. Everyone thought they were Timothy McVeigh sympathizers and they never lived it down. Guitarist John Hymenthal later killed himself by drinking bleach.

Nothin' amazing, a lot of stuff carried on from last week.

Anyway, I'm listening to Brian Eno's Ambient 1: Music For Airports today. Such a beautiful album. I find it incredible how something so seemingly repetitive and simple like 1/1 can be simulataneously emotionally stirring. Brian Eno is a musical genious.

Is "Grounded" Pavement's best song? It could be. Or at least, the best one that's not on either of their two most heralded albums.

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

how did it happen that a band could be this good
have you heard their Ecstacy and Wine CD?
isn't as good as Loveless, but better than Isn't Anything. very upbeat and fun.

Cat Power - You Are Free

It just seemed to match the weather. And it's great.

So I relistened to The Downward Spiral for the first time in ages and I was really impressed. I used to think it was just a good album but now I'm leaning to a 4-4.5 range now. It just gets better everytime I hear it.

YDload 06-04-2006 09:33 PM

I think I'm going to bump Clouds Taste Metallic by The Flaming Lips up into the supreme 5/5 category. It might as well be a flawless album.

I almost agree, if not a 5/5 it's at least a 4.5/5. Kims Watermelon Gun and Evil Will Prevail are brilliant.
