It seems that thrash ended somewhere in early 90s and didn't develop further. With the rise of death and black and the fall of punk and the end of a golden era (=80s), I don't think much could happen though. It's clearly an 80s style. Many times I get the impression that newer bands (and I'm talking about those who are considered good, no some neo-trash ones) cannot match with the classics simply because they weren't lucky enough to live in the 80s.

FatalEnergy 01-31-2007 06:05 PM

All new thrash to me sounds just so generic. Ripoffs, and just no change.

The only new thrash I like would be Hypnosia, Legion of the Damned, and Deathchain, and they all stray into some Death or Black metal at some time or another.

publicastration 01-31-2007 06:51 PM

I don't listen to a whole lot of thrash, just Exodus and Slayer.

Legion of the Damned is decent. The only new thrash I really like is Horrorscope, but they aren't exactly original.

FatalEnergy 01-31-2007 08:18 PM

They may not be the most original band, but they don't sound tired and worn out or as if they're trying to copy old bands.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-31-2007 09:24 PM

They only new Thrash I really like is Municipal Waste, Ghoul and Bewitched and they aren't purely Thrash. Sauron and Hypnosia are good too, but I get sick of them easily.

Shadows 01-31-2007 09:25 PM

For the newer thrash, I'm a Deathchain kind of guy. But that has a fair bit of death metal in it.

jjbraunius 02-01-2007 04:57 AM

For new thrash I dig Detonation, that has a bit of melodic DM in it as well.

As far as old thrash, stuff that I still like is
Destruction, most of Kreator. The best new album from old thrash band - Exodus "Tempo of the Damned".

I personally can't stand the productions on most of the old Metallica albums, "Kill'Em All" is the only album I can listen to in its entirety.

paraply 02-01-2007 08:22 AM

Haha, I just listened to the song Mephisto by Horrorscope, and the riff of that song is just a slowed down version of the riff of Through Eyes of Glass by Forbidden.

Stoic 02-08-2007 02:57 PM

omg omg omg, Toxik Reunion!

ThrashMaster27 02-20-2007 05:21 PM

Howdy kids,

How goes the Thrash thread? you're all boring and stopped listening to Thrash? Yeah, I've had the same problem. I've been listening to a mesh of Early Corrosion of Conformity and Blood Duster. I recently met one of the Blood Duster guys down the pub... he was quite amusing.

He said that their latest album will be called 'Odins Ride over Northland' Northland is a shopping centre near to me.

Blood Duster - Givin' Stiff to the Stiff

AA-12 02-20-2007 05:31 PM

Corrosion of Conformity kicks sooooo much ***. Their music is so catchy. They are constantly getting stuck in my head.

Nice avatar btw

ThrashMaster27 02-20-2007 05:55 PM

Yeah, I like their older stuff cause it's decent crossover and I like their later stuff cause it's laid back and relaxed music. They sound like two different bands from Animosity to Deliverance. I've always had a soft spot for Southern Metal, so I guess that's why I like both eras.

Jon! you fat gay, what are you listening to these days if it's not Thrash? the Spice Girls? you great bender. I bet you're still beating up Lebo's aswell, you Cronulla racist

Apocalyptic Raids 02-20-2007 06:41 PM

yeah I've just been round the northern beaches of sydney starting race riots etc

the usual.

I took my username 3 years ago from that the album Animosity :)

I still love COC. "Blind" is their pinnacle IMO, however I enjoy all of their albums.

Apocalyptic Raids 02-20-2007 06:51 PM

I've never got around to checking out CoC.

FatalEnergy 02-20-2007 08:07 PM

I was never a fan. Boring if you ask me.

I thought this thread died.

BassMasterMike88 03-02-2007 02:13 PM

Ok guys, feel free to help me out here, a buddy showed me this song called Splatterthrash by Ghoul and I really dug it, any suggestions how I should go about finding more Ghoul or what album I should consider picking up in the future?

Nostalgia 03-02-2007 02:32 PM

Do you have AIM? I can send you that album. If not, I can probably find a link.

AA-12 03-02-2007 02:56 PM

Get Splatterthrash. It's sooooooooooooooo good.

pate 03-02-2007 03:27 PM

All Ghoul is soooooooooo good.

CaptainWaits 03-02-2007 05:29 PM

I haven't heard Splatterthrash yet. The other two are sweet albums though.

FatalEnergy 03-02-2007 05:36 PM

Ghoul really never did anything for me honestly.

I would say Splatterthrash is their second best album. Or second worst, if you want.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-03-2007 08:48 AM

I rate them like so

Maniaxe > Splatterthrash > We Came For The Dead!!!

Speaking of Ghoul, they have left Razorback Records and are going to be re-releasing mastered versions of the first two albums.

pate 03-03-2007 10:34 AM

That's the same order I put them in.

RetiredAt21 03-03-2007 11:44 AM

Ghoul! :thumb:

Deth 03-03-2007 12:40 PM

Ghoul \m/

I have yet to hear the first album but would rank the other two in the same order.

I also have an awesome Ghoul shirt that I love.

Poofy 666 03-03-2007 02:24 PM

Why did they leave Razorback?
