I thought it was okay, but a bit drawn out.
Well then, what's a movie you have seen? :)
Thats a bit too general.. I just havn't seen the one you were talking about.
It's a thread asking which band people think are the best via the device of a poll. The rules clearly state no Favourite/best of threads etc.... so it's in violation of them.

Also, since it is a random grouping of bands and has no clear purpose it doesn't have a lot going for it.
plus it belongs in the jam session

Yes, my thoughts exactly. It wasn't bad, but just average. Too bad, it was a great subject to make a film about.

Was it better than Troy?

magicbus 01-29-2005 05:53 PM

We watched Troy in class last week. I thought it was good (although it didn't follow the whole Iliad correctly), but I couldn't stand their accents. It was like everyone had different ones, and sometimes Brad Pitt dropped his all together.

Also, didn't somebody in R&M recently go to an Eric Johnson concert? I was wondering if he's on tour or something.

Forgive my ignorance, What are Blast Beats?

Hopefully someone else will be able to explain it better for you, but I'll give it a go. I know what they are, I just don't think I can explain it well. Basically they are high speed drumming done mainly on the snare drum. Usually the tempo is over 200bpm. A good example of blastbeats is Mayhem - Buried by Time and Dust.

Another (more accessible) example is the beginning of Dragonforce - Fields of Despair

BludgeonySteve 01-29-2005 07:18 PM

It's pretty hard to explain but that was a good attempt. I can recognise them but I can't explain.

Same here, they will usually pop out at me because they don't sound in-time with the rest of the song. (To me at least)

RiceMonster 01-29-2005 07:23 PM

They're one of things thats hard to explain but easily recognized.

Bartender 01-29-2005 07:25 PM
It seem like there are much more rational ways to deal with that.
