Haven't posted on here for a while, been trying to keep a low profile so Jon cannot rip it out of me that England got dicked inthe Ashes. :p

I've been listening to a lot of Razor and Sabbat again recently, the are quality.

O, and for the record, I think Testament are hugely overated. I only ever listen to thier first album which is pretty good.

pate 01-17-2007 08:14 AM

He's ridiculously unaware/hilarious.

"Let's see if London still Practice What You Preach!!!"

*After playing Raging Waters*
"Alright, let's get back to some old school ****...play something off the Legacy..."

I hate you, and your convict nation cheating it's way back to the Ashes

I can't believe you didn't rip it out of me sooner

NP: Sabat - Wildfire

Apocalyptic Raids 01-17-2007 08:03 PM

Well I haven't been on MSN much, and to be honest I didn't think of it until you helpfully mentioned it.

Thanks! :D

I was never a huge Slayer fan but I stayed up late to see them live on the Jimmy Kimmel show last night... Can I just say that Kerry King is a terrible lead guitarist. Are the leads that awful on the studio albums?

Apocalyptic Raids 01-20-2007 09:29 AM

Pretty much.

AA-12 01-20-2007 09:32 AM

Eh, I absolutely love Slayer. I don't really see anything bad about them except for the new stuff. The old albums had amazing riffs.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-20-2007 09:39 AM

I like Slayer alot, but the solos are pretty crap. Slayer is all about the riffs anyway so it's cool.

AA-12 01-20-2007 09:48 AM

Yeah, the solos aren't memorable, but it's thrash.

pate 01-20-2007 11:56 AM

I like good solos with my thrash, which is why I love Testament. :p

Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson FTW :chug:

Ugh, that was so disappointing. I knew they were going to play Eyes of the Insane and I should just go to bed, but nope, my fanboyism made me stay up till 1am to watch them play that song. Tom's voice sucks now so bad, but it's different for me when I see them live.

Me personally, I used to like Slayer and the solos, then I was like, eh.. this sucks, but now I like them, I think they fit the music very well.

FatalEnergy 01-20-2007 02:39 PM

Eyes of the Insane is probably the worst crap they've ever written. EVER.

I've just so put off of thrash lately, I've been almost growing to dislike it.

pate 01-21-2007 01:42 PM
Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson FTW :chug:
Hell yes!

@Fatal Energy: I've been really losing interest in thrash, save for Testament, Sodom and Sabbat.

Bazarov 01-21-2007 01:52 PM

I wouldn't say I've been losing interest in it. But I've been finding myself listening to more black metal bands as of lately. It's a phase probably. I went from thrash to death metal to thrash now I guess it's black metal.

pate 01-21-2007 01:54 PM

I just don't get the same level of enjoyment from thrash that I do from, say, Dismember and Unleashed.

FatalEnergy 01-21-2007 03:16 PM

Yeah, all thrash just seems so uninspired lately to me.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-21-2007 08:40 PM

I don't listen to it anymore, except the odd Bonded By Blood or Peace Sells listen.

FatalEnergy 01-21-2007 08:44 PM

Same here

CaptainWaits 01-26-2007 09:18 PM

Quick Testament questions....

Which is better...."The New Order" or "The Legacy"?? And is "Low" worthy to have?

FatalEnergy 01-26-2007 10:15 PM

The Legacy is the better one, and Low is decent, quite good actually for mid-90's thrash.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-26-2007 10:57 PM

I prefer The New Order.

FatalEnergy 01-27-2007 12:50 AM

The New Order has too many boring unnecessary interludes. It may appeal to a guitarist, but to me it's a snooze fest.

pate 01-27-2007 04:03 PM
I prefer The New Order.
Same. They're both classic albums though.

CaptainWaits 01-31-2007 11:50 AM

What do you guys think of "The Gathering"?? I found it used for $8 bucks, so I bought it. I like it. Some songs are good to headbang too, and I like the vocals for the most part...

And then how does "Low" compare to "The Gathering"?

pate 01-31-2007 01:31 PM

I like The Gathering more, but Low is a great album as well.

The Gathering for 8 bucks was a good find!

FatalEnergy 01-31-2007 05:26 PM

I like two songs on that album. I found it to be pretty much crap.

Stoic 01-31-2007 05:36 PM

/referring to the first posts of this page

I suspect the problem with thrash is that there isn't really a new scene to keep you alert. Listening to the same old bands, no matter how good they are, may be tiring...:-\

FatalEnergy 01-31-2007 05:44 PM

There is a new scene I suppose, but it blows ***.
