OK. My first post. (hope I'm on topic)
It's been a year into metal for me now, what started with Metallica, Maiden, is now Megadeth and Bodom. As thrashy as it gets. That, with a hint of solo stuff like Marty Friedman's works, Slash, etc. I want to listen to more stuff now, as I think I'm getting a bit repetitive with "Wake Up Dead" and "Five Magics" being played time and time again (never gets old though) Any suggestions as to what should I move on to? Coz with Metallica, Megadeth seemed the imminent future. Heard Slayer too, didnt gel much. LoG is ok I guess, but, well, I hope you'll get the idea. |
I think the general progression here is to go from the well known thrash to stuff that's a bit more aggressive and eventually (and hopefully) venture into the more extreme genres of metal (death, black, grindcore whatever)
for now, I would check out bands like Kreator, Destruction and Sodom. The German thrash bands are a bit further down the rabbit hole of metal, and if you like those guys (you definitely should), it opens you up to a whole new side as well. As far as a few albums to try: Sodom - Agent Orange Kreator - Pleasure to Kill Destruction - Eternal Devastion or Antichrist for something more modern sounding and heavier come back once you listen to them brah |
Nuclear Assault - Survive
Holier Than Thou? - The Hating Of The Guts Municipal Waste - Hazardous Mutation Crucial Unit - These Colors Get The Runs Dats my favorite thrashes other than Anthrax and Megadeth. Also, you might like some thrashier hardcore/power violence so I'm gonna suggest: Spazz - Crush. Kill. Destroy. Artimus Pyle - Fucked From Birth xOliver Reedx - Demo Punch - Eyeless EP |
Sabbat - Dreamweaver!!
|
I guess I should bust out specific albums, eh?
|
yeah but dont recommend powerviolence dummy that isn't what he asked for

I was suggesting those to that "ThisWiseCrab" fellow.
yeah but dont recommend powerviolence dummy that isn't what he asked for
I'm reccing it because it's thrashy and I know a lot of thrash fans that are PV fans. :) |
