Ive got another Question (im just tryin to learn alot about AC/DC)What happened to Phil Rudd , the drummer , he was really good.
Hes with the band currently.

Bon_Scottie 07-11-2005 11:00 AM

He left the band after the death of Bon Scott (the lead singer at the time), and I think he went off and invested in an airline or something? Well, the band later on decided that they wanted the old passion of AC/DC back, and replaced Chris slade with Phil Rudd again, seens as he accepted.

angusmaster 07-11-2005 12:36 PM

Well , I always thought Phil was the best , so im glad hes back (i knew he was back cause i saw some footage of them doin thunderstruck in 2003)thanks for the info

brettberry 07-11-2005 12:42 PM

AC/DC RULE!!! I love all there work and their song never get old....Angus has great skill in switching chords and his solos are very sick as we'll. I personally like them better than Metallica. Old skool rock with minor pentatonics long live this band! :D

No, Phil Rudd left the band after the Flick Of The Switch album and was replaced by Simon Wright, He was with the band for Fly On The Wall, Flow Up Your Video, and Who Made Who. Simon was replaced by Chris Slade on The Razors Edge, then Chris was replaced by Phil Rudd who is currently with the band.

Bon_Scottie 07-11-2005 04:45 PM

Fair do's.

You hear so many versions of events that you forget which ones which.

Simon wright always wanted to be that powerful drummer he was in Dio. I doubt he enjoyed playing simple 4/4 beats with the band.

jgravance 07-11-2005 05:24 PM

bon scott could sing like no other. i think the pre brian johnson albums are at least 5x better than those with johnson. bons personality just fit the band better, and i think the songwriting was a lot more creative (the high voltage version of the jack is awesome). but angus is a pretty amazing guitarist and puts on a pretty **** cool show at concerts. i think ac/dc is still an amazing band, but was much better pre 1980.

angusmaster 07-11-2005 05:56 PM

That concert was back in 1991 , they got Phil back after that.

I dont see why he couldnt play more than simple beats with AC/DC

Follow The Reaper 07-12-2005 01:40 AM

AC/DC would suck with good drumming. Like Led Zeppelin on Dazed and Confused, I love LZ and Bonham, but the drums when they first come in ruin the song.

Bon_Scottie 07-12-2005 05:39 AM

Exactly.

Just wasn't their style...

rippa32 07-12-2005 05:51 AM

Are you saying good drumming wasn't Zeppelins or AC/DC's style?

Bon_Scottie 07-12-2005 11:09 AM

Im saying that complex beats and song long drum solo's wasn't AC/DC's style.

It suited Zeppelin.

BludgeonySteve 07-12-2005 12:18 PM

Complex drummin WAS Led Zeppelin's style but was NOT Ac/dc's

Tenacious Z 07-12-2005 02:18 PM

AC/DC is pretty good, but since they have ANOTHER album coming out, they should mix things up more. For example, Ride On is one of my favorite songs by them, and it has a completely different tone and feel than the rest of the Dirty Deeds album.

Brewer14 07-12-2005 03:31 PM

Still, it wouldnt hurt Phil to mix it up a little every once and awhile.

Bon_Scottie 07-12-2005 05:02 PM

Aye.

On some of the quicker tracks his work is pretty decent, but nothing special.

Follow The Reaper 07-13-2005 02:04 AM

The drumming wasn't meant to be good, the guitars' supposed to.

brettberry 07-13-2005 02:10 AM
The drumming wasn't meant to be good, the guitars' supposed to.
his point was that Phil was the only one on that album that didnt show much talent.

Follow The Reaper 07-13-2005 02:12 AM
Still, it wouldnt hurt Phil to mix it up a little every once and awhile.
Well in Phil's defence, he has some pretty good fills.

brettberry 07-13-2005 02:13 AM
That concert was back in 1991 , they got Phil back after that.
yeah, Donnington, the biggest concert in history of Rock and Roll.
What was the guys name that was drumming with them then? I like him but he looked pretty old then. I doubt he could still play with them.

Follow The Reaper 07-13-2005 02:18 AM

His name was Chris Slade, he is currently touring in Asia with the band EarthBand I think.

brettberry 07-13-2005 02:37 AM
Tony Hawk 4 kids? What the hell?

back on topic...

Ac/dc's songs sound all the same. Same chord intro. Same drum beat. Screeching vocals enter. 1 verse, chorus another verse solo chorus end of song.

But they still sound good. Damn good.
TNT is in tony kawk 4, that apparently got that that well now by video game players.

brettberry 07-13-2005 08:04 PM

Kind of like when Marty Friedman left Megadeth for some Japanese B.S. :upset:

AC/DC Rocks, and always will. Just because Angus Young is overrated does not mean that he isnt one of the best rock guitar players. Its not like he even says he is any good. He always points the finger to his older brother malcolm, who angus claims is better than eddie van halen, and i believe him. Malcolm comes up with most of their stuff.

So lets add this up.

Weve got one slightly overrated guitarist, who is still awesome, and oen way underrated guitarist. Put it together, and they end up on the AWESOME side of things. Not many bands as classic and wicked as AC/DC could keep rockin all the way through the hard times of hair metal, the punk, and still survive with the same, excellent, strong, unapologetic rock and roll that humanity needs to survive.

Yeah, i read once that they are basically a blues band with a little rock guitar and some nasty vocals .

Especially The Jack. The solo is awesome and really fun to play

Brewer14 07-13-2005 10:48 PM

AC/DC's bluesy songs are awesome.

Hells Bells 07-13-2005 11:48 PM

To all other who rock, we salute you!

Although they don't have the most complex stuff out there, their music's awesome. it's so positive and fun, the kinda stuff you can party to :D

Hells Bells 07-13-2005 11:54 PM
yeah, i will, but i dont have any acdc music. i want acdc music.
