Whats this about RR?? I thought they already signed with some company:confused:
|
yeah, i thought they signed with century media already.
|
a little off topic. Does anyone here know what Master's Apprentices is about? Share your thoughts if you would. peace.
|
Century Media would be a much better pick IMO.

It sounds like the title, it seems to be about being tested for worthiness of some sort of position or another, which would explain the title. |
Yeah, Also, you have to remember, as Mikael mentioned on the dvd. "we're going back to the old opeth formula". Basically, anything and everything between morningrise and deliverence yes?
I could see how Metallica could bring out St. anger, They were always the gods of the mainstream metal scene, and their ego's predicted that they stay there. (that is only my opinion ok people? so no flaming, please, we're all brothers here). With Opeth, i highly doubt that they can make the transition from death metal (i know ****ation wasn't, but the band itself is, you know?) to nu-metal. I know that In flames went from being a melodic death metal band to what they are now, and Soilwork went from Chainheart machine to what they are now. But they progressively changed, they didn't just change within one album. I think if Opeth ever make a nu-metal album like that, it will progress towards that sound within the next couple of albums.
In Flames is not really Nu-Metal, they're just less melodic than before, I'd really consider them Melodic Death metal with slightly more rhythm influence, and I don't really think R2R or STYE are bad, only if you are expecting the older sound, but if you look at it from it's current perspective as something new, both albums are quite a treat, plus F(r)IEND is a kick *** song. |
Century Media would be a much better pick IMO.
Century Media would be awesome. They would be able to retain their sound with no strings attached and also get massive exposure touring with the labels' other bands. That would be the best to me, since Century Media seems to care little for the usual major-label trappings and designs, and the bands would be able to keep their sound consistant. But I wouldn't have so little faith in Roadrunner. They've got Nightwish, which while similar to Evanescence is still not the most poised for a crossover jump they could have picked, and Dream Theater is in its own little cocoon at Atlantic, which is a major label. |

Yeah, that's fair to say i guess.............i'm just ****ed dissapointed there wasn't a return of the jesters race style:( |
I'm surprised that CM didn't jump right on Opeth actually. The tours they could do with their roster would be amazing.

bloody oath, imagine an Opeth, Strapping young lad tour? I know they're both in the SOTU tour, but imagine just those two by themselves touring? *orgasm* |
I'm starting to feel old, with all these bands I've never heard of how can I not? :(
|
I'm starting to feel old, with all these bands I've never heard of how can I not? :(
:( poor old strum:( the only way to make yourself feel new again is to find Opeth-****ation and have a listen :thumb: |
Consider it done. :-D
|
 you won't regret it..............unless your a tr00 norwegian black metallist, cause the ****ation album is for softies :)
|
Hey! There are no softies in this thread!
|
Hahaha, either way :p ****ation is a beautiful soft album, not a heavy one, so it's always a good start to opeth.
|
But not for softies.
Softies listen to Atreyu, not Opeth. |
I started listening to Opeth with Damnation.
I was expecting some of the heaviest, most brutal music ive ever heard, due to the opinions of the people on this forum...what i got was something completely different. Only now am I starting to listen to it more, and i say this: on that album, Opeth kicks complete and utter ass. |
Good to hear.
And you're not a softie are you? |
Good to hear.
And you're not a softie are you?
haha, your gonna rage over this softie thing for a while now aren't ya? To Shattered-Future:If you want something moderately heavy, check these songs out April Ethereal Godhead's Lament Master's Apprentice Demon of the fall Blackwater park |
But not for softies.

The Jester Race was good, but they changed cause In Flames isn't really the same band, at all, the only original member left is Jesper. |
yeah.................but......................:( still dissapointed dude
Yeah, don't be dissapointed, In Flames died after Whoracle, It's now the Jesper Stromblad band. |
Did anyone see that April Fool's article on the Opeth forums? It was posted by Trey Parker.
It had to be one of the funniest things I've ever read. I'm bringing it up because I can't find it on the site anymore :( Would anyone happen to have it on their computer for any reason? |
^
what was it about /missed the joke  |
Me too.
|
Me three.
I didn't know Trey Parker liked Opeth. I love south park even more now. |
i've been on the official opeth board and there's a thread about whether opeth is satanic or not. And its taken a tangent. Personally, I don't think they are. What do the rest of you think?

I dont think opeth is satanic i just think its there own style of music. |
Me three.
I didn't know Trey Parker liked Opeth. I love south park even more now.
I'm going to assume that it isn't really the South Park Trey Parker... just someone on the board has that screen name. The fake article was about how Mikael was going to release a biography of the band. It was absolutely hilarious... I think I cried. Here's an excerpt from it (someone turned it into a signature): Martin Lopez, who plays drums for the band has already planned a counter-attack by releasing his own biography of the band, reportedly titled "God****it **** Akerfeldt that faggot, **** him and his stupid ****ing moustache." It was beautiful... I want to read it again. I even put part of that quote into google search but nothing came up :( |
I like the part with his moustache. That is hilarious.
|
Alright, when the person said Trey Parker I though they meant the actual guy and weren't talking about user names. Boy do I feel stupid. That quote s halarious though |
did any of you guys notice, that on opeths website you can link to there tour page and buy tickets now. $69 i got two GA for seattle.
|
I dont think opeth is satanic i just think its there own style of music.
I know Mikael is a big fan of cults and the like cause on the Lamentations documentary he says the next album might be a concept album on cults. |
Hey, when i get my paycheck i was going to get an opeth cd and i was wondering if anyone could tell me a good cd to buy.....thx

I like ''My Arms, Your Hearse'' right now. I'd get that one and listen to it all the way through. \m/ ~Demon Of The Fall~ ''Just one second, and I was left with nothing Her fragrance still pulsating, through damp air That day came to an end And she had lost in me, Her Credence.'' |

My vote would be with Still Life or Blackwater Park. :) |

Blackwater park. \m/ |
Or you can just buy them in the order they were recorded...if you are new to Opeth, That's what I would do. But My Arms, Your Hearse is the album I listen to the most; I can't get the Outro to ''Credence'' out of my head!
The thing I like about that album is Akerfeldt actually wrote and recorded all the bass parts to it. Not to mention the LP is one story to begin with. :thumb: A true Masterpiece. |
