Rosetta are awesome, thanks for the heads up.

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-05-2007 10:37 PM

Do you want their split? I'll pay it forward.

ATM 05-05-2007 10:47 PM

Downloading now, thanks Jake.

Txus 05-05-2007 10:54 PM

Is it Megaupload? If not, I would definitely love it :)

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-05-2007 10:56 PM

Check your rep.

I didn't mean to offend anyone saying that Yndi Halda could be described as post-rock/drone. I've only heard Dash and Blast, and We Flood Empty Lakes. Everyone raves over this last song, and I've listened to it a few times but I just don't get it. Their music doesn't seem as soaring as Sigur Ros,Mogwai, Godspeed etc , although I've only heard those 2 songs, they just seemed a bit downbeat, but maybe I was listening to the wrong stuff.

I'm a she by the way.

Anyway I'll check out those suggestions on Limewire.

Kage 05-05-2007 10:57 PM

For your own sake, download soulseek instead of limewire.

And also I dig you.

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-05-2007 10:58 PM

Downbeat doesn't equate to post rock though, that's the thing.

Kage 05-05-2007 11:02 PM

Downbeat was in regards to the drone part.

Txus 05-05-2007 11:11 PM

Thanks for the link, Jake.

And I gave Laughing Stock another chance today, it's not that great but it's growing.

Get used to it bitch.

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-05-2007 11:43 PM

Holy crap. Clavius, the last track on Project Mercury, is absolutely mindblowing. Might be the best Rosetta song I've heard.

That's really hard to say though. :-/

So how much Russian Circles do you think their guitarist has been listening to? There's quite a bit of tapping on Clavius, something that Russian Circles does often.

Nepenthe 05-10-2007 06:56 PM

Auto!Automatic!! is very cool. Anyone ever heard?

They have some pretty sweet song titles. My favorite is: A!A!! @ AA, Eh?

And Grails new cd is more Grails goodness.

And Turing Machine kicks alot of ***.

Lots of great new stuff.

And Miasma And The Carousel Of Headless Horses is the best new band I've heard all year.

Txus 05-10-2007 07:01 PM

Grails new album is good but I prefer the other one (Tar something).

And I haven't heard Auto!Automatic!

What are they like?

Nepenthe 05-10-2007 07:05 PM

Black Tar Prophecies. Right now I like the newer one better, but that might just be because it's new, so I'll see after a few more listens.

Energetic post rock. Kind of like We Followed Tigers, not quite as aggressive, with some electronic stuff.

Turing Machine is more energetic stuff, but with a heavier emphasis on electric guitars instead of clean.

And Miasma is described well here:
Miasma & the Carousel of Headless Horses are a British instrumental quintet that plays dark, antiquated sounding music encompassing elements of Eastern European folk, avant-rock, broken-down calliope music, and neo-classical film composition. In keeping with Mimicry tradition, their music can only be compared to many artists at once: in this case Angelo Badalamenti, Astor Piazzolla, Goblin, Art Bears, Burzum, Tom Waits, Antioch Arrow, King Crimson, Bach and Univers Zero. More a trip to an anachronistic world of neo-baroque psychedelia than a simple study in diced-up ecclecticism, the music on Perils sways between lush chamber orientated melancholia, apocalyptic bombast, and epic ghost train high-drama.
Yes.

Limewire comes bundled with all kinds of spyware and shit. The selection on slsk is much better anyway.

Nepenthe 05-10-2007 07:09 PM

I find everything I need on various blogs.

Txus 05-10-2007 07:12 PM

Me too. Well, a lot of things...not everything.

Can you upload those 2 bands plz Anthony? Over Mediafire plzkthnx :)

Nepenthe 05-10-2007 07:16 PM

I named 3, hah. Which ones? Or I can do them all.

Txus 05-10-2007 07:19 PM

The 3 bands sound awesome, thanks man :)

Nepenthe 05-10-2007 07:23 PM

Ok, should be done in like 45 minutes.

Txus 05-10-2007 07:27 PM

Sweet dude, if you want any other Post Rock I might have just ask :)

Nepenthe 05-12-2007 10:33 AM

RIP Aereogramme. I will miss hearing that guys voice (gayest sentence ever).

bwnstl 05-12-2007 11:53 AM

Damn, that sucks. Care to upload some of their albums to the DU? I'm really interested in hearing their material after hearing their collaboration with Isis.

Nepenthe 05-12-2007 11:55 AM

I'll upload some, but I'm not a part of the DU. I'll just email it straight to you later today.

Txus 05-12-2007 03:05 PM

They were ok.

Nepenthe 05-12-2007 03:39 PM

Understatement of the day. Their singer has the best voice in post rock.

Sent it to you bwnstl, anyone else want? It's their latest.
