BUMP!

So yeah, I finally watched The Wall for the first time the other day. Wasn't anywhere near as trippy as people go on about. I mean, some parts were pretty abstract but if you already understand the ideas behind the music, it's quite clear. It's really just the album in pictures. I quite liked it! It was bold and original!

PS - Got TDB on high rotation atm. Talk about underrated.
I think the movie is pretty cool. It's nothing really mind blowing, but there's definitely some cool imagery in there.

Today is the 33rd anniversary of Dark Side Of The Moon.
Indeed; it really is great, some of Gilmour's guitar work is great .. my favourites on the album have to be Poles Apart and Coming Back To Life. However, it just doesn't have a Pink Floyd feel to it ... it's such a shame that Waters' was an arrogant so and so :p, or else they would have had a couple more decades of their great 70's stuff.
Roger and Dave both have massive egos, I just think people are more disposed to Dave because he never spat on a fan.

NP - Fearless, love the lyrics to this, awesome ...
Great lyrics for a great song, hehe.

robo2448 03-17-2006 05:58 PM

I love Coming Back to Life. Kind of random but I just listened to it and decided it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. The guitarwork at the beginning is so beautiful and amazing. It almost rivals SOYCD's amazing opening.

Dragon_Prince 03-18-2006 08:34 AM

2 days till David Gilmour, gehe and they will play: SOYCD, WYWH, Echoes, Comfortably Numb, Breathe, Time wooh oo I'm so excited

THE_FLOYD_RULE!!! 03-19-2006 08:32 AM

have a cigar is the best song by pink floyd in my view. the guitar work in that song is brilliant

You know I've never really thought like that, and you're exactly right :thumb:

Is that the show he's doing where he'll be performing 'DSOTM' with The Who, in London?

I'm going to that, as far as I know.

Okay I just came back form Gilmour's concert

the setlist:

On an island

pause

shine on
wotz uhm the deal
fat old sun
coming back to life
time+breathe reprise
high hopes
echoes

encore

wish you were here
comfortably numb

*is so cool*

BigTrav415 03-20-2006 05:20 PM

That was an early concert

By the way, you suck and are gay and a faggot and I hope you burn in the 8th circle of hell, the one usually reserved for gay pedophiles and Eric Bauman and get raped by huge-schlonged demons for all of eternity.

:(

Seriously, the simple fact that he played Wot's Uh The Deal makes me so jealous of you it hurts. Plus Echoes and all that other gobbledygook.

What does everyone think of the Final Cut? I bought it last week and was really impressed with it. I've only ever really heard negative things about it, but I loved it.

Imho 03-21-2006 02:45 AM

Negative things? Where have you been hiding? Anyway, I think that album is absolutly fantastic! Top 4 :)

By the way, anybody heard the new David Gilmour album? Even though I'm not a very big fan of Gilmour, I consider to bye this album.

EDIT; Maybe you have allready talked about it, I haven't been here in a while.

Atomic Rain 03-21-2006 12:29 PM

To be honest, it's probally my favorite album. The lyrics just.. I dunno I really like the lyrics, plus the album reminds me of my dad a lot, he's the one who got me into Floyd WITH that album, I remember me and him listening to it a lot.

Riva 03-21-2006 06:44 PM

I like it a lot, despite it being almost a solo album by Roger. It's full of catchy rock songs and brilliant lyrics, and while it might not be the quintessential Pink Floyd, it has enough of their essence for me to enjoy it greatly.

YouGottaBeCrazy 03-21-2006 06:59 PM

I like The Final Cut as well. There are some quality songs on that cd.

standard 03-22-2006 02:05 PM

On TFC, Roger just shines with his lyrics. They have so much emotion and meaning.

Speaking of emotion.. Gilmour .. Wow his solos on this album are emotionally on the same level, if not ABOVE (not by much) Comfortably Numb.

Mr. Black 03-22-2006 02:56 PM

Sorrow is on the Final Cut, is it not?

I love that bit at the beginnig, with the awesome guitar parts.

Dragon_Prince 03-22-2006 03:45 PM

That's from A Momentary Laps Of Reason

Jim 03-23-2006 04:04 AM

Well this man's next purchase is going to be The Final Cut, without a shadow of a doubt. I've been putting it off for too long.
