I'm thinking dates will be added for the east coast when they swing back around to Canada after the one off gig in London. I'm hoping for thr best for you, Lunch.

Lunch 07-13-2006 02:04 PM

Yea, it doesn't seem like they would skip the rest of the east coast and then the whole rest of the country.

JohnXDoesn't 07-13-2006 02:06 PM

Lot's of room in October. And November. They say this is a 15 month trek. So all legs of the tour can't be this small. This is not a full east coast schedule, most likely.

Lunch 07-13-2006 02:08 PM

It better not, or else I'll fight the Who.

....Townshend, not Daltrey.

JohnXDoesn't 07-13-2006 02:14 PM

Daltrey is a tough old gramps, ain't he....

Those sound good. Congrats. I hope they change up the set a bit. Even Eminence Front and Cry If You Want would be welcome. They did those the first several nights, along with the new 11 minute mini-opera. They said they didn't think the mini was working in front of larger crowds at the moment, but they could of kept the other two songs in. And if they don't want to do the entire mini they can do Mirror Door, Endless Wire, and Mike Post Theme. All those are great songs. It'll be good either way, it just frustrates me that I might hear basically the same set I heard the last two times out, with the exception of Mike Post Theme.

Setlists from my last two Who gigs:

Irvine, CA:

I Can't Explain
Substitute
Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere
Who Are You
Another Tricky Day
Relay
Bargain
Baba o'Riley
I'm One
Sea and Sand
5:15
Love Reign O'er Me
Behind Blue Eyes
You Better, You Bet
The Kids Are Alright
My Generation
Won't Get Fooled Again

Encore:

Pinball Wizard
Amazing Journey/Sparks
See Me, Feel Me/Listening To You
----------------------------------------------

Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, CA:

I Can't Explain
Substitute
Anyway Anyhow Anywhere
Baba O'Riley
Behind Blue Eyes
Real Good Looking Boy
Who Are You
Drowned
Punk And The Godfather
Love Reign O'er Me
Eminence Front
You Better You Bet
The Kids Are Alright
My Generation / Old Red Wine
Won't Get Fooled Again (extended ending)

Encore:

Pinball Wizard
Amazing Journey/Sparks
See Me Feel Me/Listening To You

I don't mind these setlists. A bit more variety would be welcome considering the musical background of the players. They can learn and perform any song. Long Live Rock, Happy Jack, I Can See For Miles, Getting In Tune, Slip Kid, Squeeze Box, Water, Dreaming From The Waste, Young Man Blues, I Don't Even Know Myself....and on and on. All these are popular enough for people to enjoy. Along with three new songs or so. Just throw some of these in everynight. Hell, when Springsteen came back with the E Street Band they performed 112 songs. Different songs. They didn't just have them ready or consider them, but they actually played them throughout the tour. If they can do that, The Who can do a little more, too.

apple pie 07-14-2006 04:32 PM

Pinball Wizard
You Better You Bet
The Kids Are Alright
My Generation / Old Red Wine
Won't Get Fooled Again (extended ending)
Substitute
Anyway Anyhow Anywhere
Baba O'Riley
Behind Blue Eyes
Real Good Looking Boy
Who Are You
Drowned
The Seeker
and Love aint for keeping

JohnXDoesn't 07-14-2006 05:10 PM

^ That's the thing. We all want something, don't we? I could knock Behind Blue Eyes, Drowned, Who Are You, and Pinball Wizard from your list and not even think twice. And Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere, as well. You Better You Bet, too. Just gimme some Water, Long Live Rock, Slip Kid, I Don't Even Know Myself, Sister Disco, etc. And you could probably do the same to my request. And they aren't doing Love Ain't For Keeping. Which is kind of my point. If I have a point...

Yeah. It seems NYC loves The Who. Ever since the Concert For NYC/9-11 when they kicked arse all over the place. Very emotional and timely set they played. The Who have always been good with mini sets at fundraisers and charity events. No warm up needed. No "getting into it". They just blast off from the start. :)
