Sgt._Joker 02-09-2005 02:13 AM

Funny you mention that, I was dreaming that today as I often do, me in my time-warp. I was listening to "Love You To" off Revolver at the time. A mate of mine recorded me when I was smashed off my face talking about how I wanted to make it big and be like the Beatles and Pink Floyd, sad but true.

Imagine4Lennon 02-09-2005 01:23 PM
Sad thing is the second disc always falls out of my rotation, but Sexie Sadie is awesome.
The White Album, in my opinion is the beat Beatles album, it's so..versatile..and..different. I love it. The second disc is in my opinion the better disc. I like a greater percantage of the songs on 2 than 1.
I pretty much like the whole white album, except three songs, which in my mind suck
-Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da (eww)
- Mother Nature's Son (throws up)
- Wild Honey Pie (meh)

A lot of beatles fans don't like revolution 9 because it's so weird and eerie. I think it's cool. You have to remember/respect how much time it must have taken to put together all those clips, and arrange the backwards looping, and sound effects etc. You also have to keep in mind how INCREDIBLY ****ed up John and Yoko must have been (meaning ****ed up on drugs) when they put it together. It's a cool little song-collage. It's followed up by Good Night, which is a beautiful closer to an incredible album

Woodstock 02-09-2005 02:11 PM

Mother Nature's Son is a great song.

Seafroggys 02-09-2005 06:46 PM

Mother Nature's Son is alright.
Ob-la-de Ob-la-da is a fun little song.
Wild Honey Pie is the worst Beatles song of all time

The White Album has the best songs, but a lot of substandard songs too. Overall as a whole album, Abbey Road is the best.

Walrus Gumboot 02-09-2005 06:56 PM

I don't think they would need to be ****ed up to do rev. 9, he just kept on running upstairs to the sound library at EMI and making loops. Apperently the "Number Nine, Number Nine" bit was something an engineer said that they just worked into it, but the power it has over people whan they first listen to it is very interesting. It's like being ****ed in a way, really paranoid, afraid of whats comming next, its a sound trip, really. You should read what John had to say about it in the big anthology book-- pretty interesting.

Woodstock 02-09-2005 07:55 PM

The Anthology is my Beatles Bible.

DeusExMachina 02-09-2005 09:58 PM

I need to find my copy of it. It got packed up in a box when I moved...

Johnny B. Good 02-09-2005 09:59 PM

I think 1 is a pretty decent album to have of the Beatles
and is probably good for someone just getting into the Beatles

DeusExMachina 02-09-2005 10:05 PM

Definitely. I'm beginning to think that Rubber Soul might actually be better than Abbey Road.

Johnny B. Good 02-09-2005 10:08 PM

I don't know Abbey Road is so good as a whole album
Rubber Soul is kind of poppy Beatles still
Mind you I like poppy Beatles but not as much as later, Psychadelic if you will, Beatles

El_Goodo 02-09-2005 10:11 PM

Me and my band are working on covering twist and shout...its an wicked fun song to cover :)

clown_phobia 02-10-2005 02:34 AM

Yeah I like playing guitar and singing it :thumb:

It's fun, but it's not very challenging.

Sgt._Joker 02-10-2005 05:48 AM

Honey Pie is actually quite a bloody good song, the lyrics are lacking, but experimentation n guitar sounds OWN!,

very cool, bongo drum sounding, drum beat aswell.

My friend got a 12 string acoustic for christmas, i'm thinking "You've got to hide your love away"

question:
Is there an existing tab of George Harrisons lead part in "You've got to hide your love away"

if you know of any sites that have it, OR if you have the Beatles Complete Scores, could you type it up in Tab Fashion.................. Please?
cheers

Imagine4Lennon 02-10-2005 01:36 PM

This is sort of off topic, but since you're all Beatles fans, you should check out www.beatles-discography.com It's a great site, with lots of Beatles information. Also, there's a forum dedicated to the Beatles where you can chat with tons of other Beatles fans from all around the world. I suggest you join.

Rubber Soul is kind of poppy, true, but it has the groundwork of their really amazing work. It's poppy, but poppy in a very intelligent way. I love it. Abbey Road is still probably my favorite though.

Woodstock 02-10-2005 04:53 PM

I think Rubber Soul rivals Abbey Road.

OfSins&Shred 02-10-2005 06:17 PM
Revolver without a doubt, with so many good tracks it would be definately the choice, It would have to be my favourite Beatles album at the moment.
I tried to get revolver but the bloody record store couldn't find the cd, so I got Abbey Rd instead, Ive listened to it once so far & it sounds alot more poppy and not as upbeat as white album or sgt peppers, not sure if I like it yet...

*Give it another listen.*

*best advice for any doubtful fan

I have recently been really getting into Let it Be. Great album :thumb:

Naked, or the original version?

DeusExMachina 02-10-2005 06:51 PM

Naked > The original version.

Woodstock 02-10-2005 07:06 PM
Naked > The original version.
Couldn't agree more.

Badmoon 02-10-2005 07:12 PM
Naked > The original version.
I disagree, however...

Across the Universe (Nakes Version) > Across the Universe (Original)
Naked, or the original version?
I have them both, but the original. :)

Johnny B. Good 02-10-2005 08:13 PM

I don't like Let It Be that much. I think they have better albums

Woodstock 02-10-2005 08:21 PM

I love Dig A Pony. Great song.

clown_phobia 02-11-2005 12:49 AM

I prefer the original version of the Let it Be song.

Sgt._Joker 02-11-2005 12:59 AM

of course naked is gonna be better then Let It Be Orig, becourse its remastered and all that jazz

but i prefer Let It Be (original) because of the way you Hear John Lennon and other beatles saying intros and what have you

Glitterati 02-11-2005 01:23 AM
I don't like Let It Be that much. I think they have better albums
Same here. Other than Let It Be and Get Back, it was a letdown for me. Abbey Road > Let It Be.
