Hello people, I'm back! Pitifully no Sabbath related presents, but the Emperor DVD was great... So is my brand new BOSS mt2 distortion :)

Absolutely agreed, Laiho. Black Sabbath made metal. But the kind of music that is made by bands which sounds like sabbath now is called doom metal (eg. Orange Goblin...). God**** I'm gonna get Black Box for my birthday, it would be sooo cool to have the first 8 Sab albums.....
Welcome back, things got way too slow here haha.

Not to hijack the thread, but how do you like that mt2? I was thinking of buying one.

Man I love it! Its the most expensive distortion pedal by boss, but it's verrry great. I have a samick 15w amp and its distortion is really crappy, and when I got this one... I got all the sounds I want. I use mostly the Heavy Metal settings they gave on the instrucyions card. And for Sabbath sound, use 'Rock 2' settings, if you buy it. I recommend it. I am no expert at playing guitar (yet :p  ), but I can now tell it's great. It makes my amp sound as powerful as a marshall 100w (ive played through one a few times and i know what i'm saying). So...
Sorry for off topic.

Well, I second that, but... What's the topic...? Ive read all posts that were posted while I was absent and...Dunno what to talk about...

ToRidTheDisease 12-27-2004 09:32 AM

You have a good point...

I guess we should make up a new topic of discussion.

Brew 12-27-2004 09:39 AM

So I'm back and I've got some stuff to say.

1) Why the hell were people online on xmas day?
2) Why is shadow_stalker banned? Apart from his stupid posts on the last page I'm guessing it was a ban4spam?
3) For the 1millionth time: Black Sabbare are HARD ROCK, they have never classed themselves as Heavy Metal, more of a hard rock/heavy blues band. Sure they may have heavily influenced Metal, but they're still nothing more than a hard rock band.
4) Rumor has it that Jerry Cantrell will be on the next Ozzy album, the next person to discuss Ozzy's solo career in this Official Black Sabbath thread will get neg repped by me.
5) I felt like making a 5th point.

Soooo... Shall we discuss about... WTF CAN WE TALK ABOUT NOW man? No idea.
Hmm wait...

I've read on Siegler's site that the remaster on Black Box is different from all other ones... Is it true?
www.black-sabbath.com]The albums themselves have an unbelievable sound quality never heard in these recordings before. It's not like we have new songs here - these are after all the same songs released before. But they've never been heard like this before. I cannot stress how great these discs sound. I've been listening to Black Sabbath since 1981. I know these songs extremely well - EXTREMELY well. So much so that the slightest change is noticeable. Well, the sound range here is far more powerful than I've ever heard it before.
Welcome back Andy. Pity I know exactly the same things you do - nothing about pts 1 and 2 of your list :).

1) On Xmas after a while I just felt like coming online to talk about what I got.
2) I'm still not sure why he was banned.
3) I still considor them metal, but as i've said because, it's not the genre, it's all about the music.
4) I agree.
5) Welcome back.

Black Box is currently the best versions of the Ozzy-ear Sabbath albums around.

Correction

I mean they're the best Official albums around, the 1996 Castle Remasters were not asked for by the band.

Brew 12-27-2004 09:43 AM

Guys, I'm not drunk enough right now.

Annoyedness++

ToRidTheDisease 12-27-2004 09:44 AM

Edit + off topic:

Have I mentioned my uncle in here before? The one that always brings me vinyl?

Anyways, he came down for xmas this year with my Aunties and he brought me a stack of vinyl including:

Dio
AC/DC
Quiet Riot
Judas Priest
Motley Crue

Then when I go upto Brum in March to see Judas Priest, he's going to let me look through the rest of his collection to see if I can find anything else to copy.

That's awesome.

I got British Steel and Unleashed In The East for Christmas.

Brew 12-27-2004 10:03 AM

Nice.

He brought down Painkiller and Ram it Down, I've already got Painkiller so I'll be doing just Ram it Down.

Sin After Sin is a great album by Priest, really different to British Steel.

kredkeee! 12-27-2004 10:04 AM

Lucky man. Hah I know no one younger than like 18 who could lend me any good old stuff. No one who is odler here likes classic rock or metal... :upset:

ToRidTheDisease 12-27-2004 10:05 AM

I need to update my list of CD's pretty soon, I recently got all the ozzy-era Sabbath cds, Judas Priest, Death, and Slayer.

Brew 12-27-2004 10:10 AM

Josh, have you heard Blow on a Jug yet?

Brew 12-27-2004 10:12 AM

ToRidTheDisease 12-27-2004 10:15 AM

Which track is it on? And how far into it?

Brew 12-27-2004 10:16 AM

End of The Writ.

You do have the Black Box version of Sabotage yes?

Then it should be there.

Try turning the volume up at the end of the song.

I don't have it too... But I know it should. I have a strange version of Sabotage i think

ToRidTheDisease 12-27-2004 10:23 AM

 I just heard it, crazy stuff. Is that Ozzy singing?

Brew 12-27-2004 10:26 AM

Yeh, Ozzy and Bill messing around with a piano in the studio one day.

My version is all crackly due to being on vinyl with the recording volume up to near max to get it recorded
