Morbid Angel - Blood on my hands
So, i just picked this to get the thread moving. I have heard an amazing solo from their drummer befroe, so i thought i would give it a shot. Song opens with fast drumming and guitars. Their drummer is amazing, hes just going nuts on the set. Seems like there are a few different tempos but it works. at about 0:38 we get vocals, half screaming, half singing. then it goes straight into singing. Then the chorus has the same speed as the intro. The verse then continues, the same as before. Then the same chorus. I dont see how people could listen only to this. It would bore me. Just the rapid Quarter, Eighth, or sixteenth notes on the drums. not a whole lot of rythmic variaty. At about 2:20, a solo, which starts pretty random, then grows a little bit. Still kinda random, and very short, only about 30 seconds. Then back into the chorus. wow thats the whole song. Easiest review ive done Overall, about a 6/10. Not very original, and the drums kept doing similar things. Thousand Foot Krutch - All the Way
I have never heard this band, so I'm not sure what to expect. Starts off with a catchy little riff, then picks up. I don't really like the vocals. The singer is trying to rap, and the lyrics are pretty bad. The first verse is followed by a cool sounding bridge. Second verse is more poor rapping. He is managing to stay with the beat, but the lyrics aren't very good. At 1:47, he stops rapping and starts to sing, followed by more Limp Bizkit-style lyrics. 3/10 I liked the riff, but they singing/rapping was awful. Kasabian - ID 4:54 Intro : synths or some electronic instrument, doing some "shredding". A good place for shredding guitarts Synths come in with symphonic, and some electronized distorted guitars. Which spoiled the intro. 0:30, the drums come in, and it starts to sound like linkin park's cure for the itch. more electronic stuff comes in, the shredding still continues. The synth's symphony and shredding were good, untill those parts came in. 1:12, everything stops, and sythns take sort of a "solo" 1:33, wow, this part is better. More soothing, some leads by the synths, then the vocals come in. The song starts to become nice from here. Some guitar leads during the vocals. The vocals are quite nice actually. 2:47 - "vocal solo', with some very soft electronic parts. The drums still sound like linkin park's electronic songs. Very good combination, just that some are used badly. The symphonic synths, the shredding electrnonics were good. But the extremely effected, delayed, tremeloed and who knows what sounds are horrible. They should like replace lead guitars with the shredding electronics, ochestra with snyths, and keep rythmn guitar of power metal the same. That's good electronic rock. well, this song is great after the 1:33 mark, and the bass lines were pretty great to and energetic. Improvements can be made, but well, i was disappounted that there was no solo. (not guitar, but whatever electronic instruments have to offer) 6.5/10 Suggestions : Carcass - Black Star (melodic death) In Flames - Embody The Invisible (melodic death) Dragonforce - Black Fire (supersonic power metal) Vader - Xeper (death metal..probrably brutal thrash/death) |
Upload one of them and I will review it.

Carcass - Black Star
I've heard all of the bands on the list but this is the only song I haven't heard (downloaded the album yesterday but haven't had a listen yet) Begins with a semi cool little riff. It's a bit slow. The drums come in and I don't really feel any energy. The next riff is awesome but still a bit too slow to really get me going. The vocals come in. Very well done the way the trade off each line. Also very easy to understand. Too slow. The drums are really boring me. It's an Opeth speed but without the Opeth charm. I've only heard 3 riffs by the halfway mark. All are very good, but the drums are really boring and it's all too slow. I like the bridge a bit and the demi solo but still too slow. It does begin to pick up druing the solo, which I like very much. The solo is by far the best part of the song. Overall though, too slow. I hope the entire album isn't like this. 4/10 Enslaved - Bounded by Allegiance - http://s32.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1ZYN3GJLZBI4D1KKW9AX6B4BBE Emperor - The Tongue of Fire Borknagar - Oceans Rise (All are at least somewhat progressive black metal. If you've already heard the Enslaved song, I'll upload another yousendit) |

Enslaved - Bounded by Allegiance
Comes in with a neat palm mute riff build up accentuated with unmuted strokes on the chords. A choir backs it in the middle, but it lasts a little bit too long at about 1 1/2 minutes. Weird vocal style, sounds like a monk chat almost. The effects on it make it sound like it was recorded in a large space, adding to the effect of monkness. I lied, now the real vocals came in, and they are screamy and typical death metal (I hope) style vocals. Neat orchestration backs the band, and the guitar plays with accentuation well. Drums are not very interesting to me as of yet, but the syncopation in the guitar is quite fun. More monk chants backed by the second riff from earlier. Interesting keyboard work in the background, at least I think it's keyboard. Shifts into the bridge. Just a different riff it sounds like, but no choral accompianament (misspelled). A few times it sounds like it is working into a guitar solo here, but it never does, and then the vocals come back in. Too bad, I would have liked to hear a solo. I think the mp3 file might have been incomplete because it cuts out very abruptly at 6:38. That cut out was rather disappointing, I was hoping to hear how it finished :-/ 8/10 I think. Yes - I am Waiting (Soft Progressive Rock, think Division Bell era Floyd) Project 86 - Pipe Dream (Metal of some type, maybe Nu?) The Bars - You are my Target Audience (Hardcore) Blindside - Teddy Bear (Hardcore) Anatomy of a Ghost - On to Morning stars (Indie/Pop-Punk) Radiohead - Creep (Indie?) |
oops.... It may have been a bad one. I'll look for another to make sure.

Not a dibs, but that is how the song ends, it just cuts out out of nowhere. Typical Enslaved really.
Nine Inch Nails - La Mer
I was expecting something more heavy and industrial, but this intro is amazing. The piano and bass harmonizes well. Then the bell/keyboard sound comes in. I don't know what it is, but it mixes very well. I'm loving this so far. Nothing like what I expected, because I've only heard a few songs from NIN. This beautiful female voice just came in speaking French. I'm hoping I got the right song....... Now the drums have come in along with another bass line. This is a beautiful song, I'm just not believing this is NIN. Now...synthesized trumpets? Most likely just a keyboard song. 2:47, it's still the same, but getting a bit louder. 3:45, it starts to fade out, and now it's just the piano, bass, and a faded out sound of the drums. The french voice came in shortly again. It's fading out completely now. That was a great song. Only problem: I don't think that was the right song...:( overall:9.5/10 I am very sorry if this is the wrong song. The download says "[Nine Inch Nails] 11-la mer" :) Suggestions: Bal Sagoth- Behold, The Armies of War Death- Without Judgement
I just listened to this song. It's really just a different version of "Into the Void". |

Yes - I am Waiting
Starts of with some guitar, and some keys, bass and soft drumming. At 0;19 we start of with, a solo :amaze: , sounds like it though, it’s nice. 1:07 the intro again. 1:25 vocals come in, very relaxed, not to special, just pleasing to the ear. After a few seconds we get some foreground/background vocals going on. 2:06 keyboards get a bigger part. And after a few secs we return to where it al began with. 2:41 some heavier drumming and very nice guitaring going on. 3:30 the song changes a bit, all sounds different than before. At 3:50 we’re back at the relaxing sound once more. Some parts esp. with the vocals harmonies remind me of the Lion king soundtrack  5:14 some higher singing. Very much bass driven. At a certain moment we get a solo with singing over it going on. 6:42 we fall back to relaxing music, again And with that it ends. Well, I’ve been meaning to check Yes out, And I can say I wasn’t disappointed. I liked it, although It sounded like the Lion king soundtrack at certain times 7,5/10 My picks: Cephalic carnage – dying will be the death of me (grind) Arcturus – Masters of disguise (avant garde ) enjoy |
