I've been listening to a lot of Kinesis lately.

Little Man being Erased 11-04-2004 07:05 PM

I've been listening to The Panics and Ryan Adams. If you haven't heard The Panics check their website www.thepanics.com.au

Tapeworm 11-04-2004 10:31 PM

I've been listening to David Gray again. God he is brilliant. Also heavily digging Sufjan Stevens' Seven Swans

The Red Sparowes

http://www.redsparowes.com/

2 of the guys from Isis and some other dudes playing post-rock. Some pretty dang good post-rock. They don't have an album out yet, but there's a song for download on the site there, and a few songs floating around on Soulseek and such.

Tangy zizzle 11-05-2004 04:49 AM

I listen to Pinkerton everyday, but it's just dawned on me how good it actually is.

milkandlaxatives 11-05-2004 06:12 AM

pinkerton is an awesome album, it's my favorite by weezer. i was disappointed with maladroit, though. i have it on vinyl and it rarely gets listened to. a shame, really...

That UNKLE song's amazing by the way, thanks Iai!:D I also checked out Rabbit in Your Headlights feat. Radiohead. It's awesome as well.

I've tried numerous times to get Phsycocandy off Soulseek but I never have any luck. :(

Right now I'm listening to Keane.

Possibly because you can't spell it? It's "Psychocandy"

Zappa 11-06-2004 04:14 PM

I've been listening to tons of Nomeansno, but most of the time I'm recording. So I've been digging my own stuff, I guess.

I've been meaning to ask you Zappa, what instruments do you play? I remember you giving someone advice on the trumpet in a thread in the Jazz & Funk forum, but do you play anything else?

Zappa 11-06-2004 04:28 PM

I play trumpet. I also just began taking piano lessons. I record chiefly on a portable Yamaha keyboard. I'm not any good at piano, of course, but with all the editing the unlimited takes I manage to get what I want out of the thing. It's great fun.

br3ad_man 11-06-2004 04:30 PM

Keyboards rule. I can hardly play piano at all, but because my school has keyboards that are worth many thousands of dollars, I can pretty much make anything I want on them. It's good stuff.

YDload 11-06-2004 04:32 PM

Good to hear. I used to play around on this cheap K-Mart keyboard before I got my bass. I managed to figure out the vocal melody for the chorus of "Would?" by AIC. And then I abandoned it, which is dumb because knowing your way around the keyboard is as important as the fretboard. Lots of musical knowledge and versatility there.
