~The Wise One~ 06-25-2004 10:01 PM
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?

o and for u classic rock fans, the crime of the new century was that the Yardbirds new CD, Birdland, recieved no attention at all. that deserved a grammy, or 6.

so are there any other classic rock fans out there, and even if ur not, have u been noticing somewhat of a revival in interest for that sort of music?
hell im only 11 and most of my favorite song are at least 15 years older than me. led zeppelin is my favorite band. classic rock might be comin back a little. at least rock, anyway. lots of ppl hate the rap sh*t now and i think its the worst genre of music ever created. the ramones r awesome is uve never heard them then HEAR THEM FAST. listen to i wanna be sedated it rocks.

oh yeah, btw can some1 tell me how to post my own thread? wm4@comcast.net thnx im new

my uncle went to 30 grateful dead concerts in his time. and i'm just like wtf mate? and he's like yeah and i'm like man lucky kid and he's like yeah.

Grateful dead=one of the best concert bands ever. Maybe kiss beats them for concerts but that's about it.
my uncle went to 30 grateful dead concerts in his time
My cousin has been to 75 Phish shows, he toured with them for a year. And his friends have been too hundreds.

Voodoo are you going to review Undermind?

BurningSky 06-25-2004 10:38 PM

1966-1973 was the rock n' roll rennaissance, if you ask me...

I didn't read through all 62 pages because, frankly, that would take several hours that I am too lazy to waste...

Anyway, I'm going to take a stab and say that Kansas probably wasn't mentioned too often. "Carry on Wayward Son" deerves serious respect out of all classic rock fans, as well as "Dust in the Wind" and "Point of Know Return"...

Yes is also a great band, and Rush is still rocking today...

And Steppenwolf. They practicly invented metal...

And Iron Butterfly needs to get recognized for "Ina Gadda Da Vidda"....

As sad as it might sound I still haven't had the chance to buy the album. I've been dead broke for 2 months now but it's all over now because I got a good job. I'm buying it this weekend so I'm gonna review it as soon as possible. Don't worry doods and doodets...

And don't yell at me :upset:

Kiss_ACDC 06-26-2004 06:18 AM

I've noticed a few new bands bringing back classic rock. Bands like Jet, The Darkness, The Cassinovas and The Datsuns.

BludgeonySteve 06-26-2004 09:17 AM

^yeah exept they are nothing compared to the real classic rock bands.

EbayRules 06-26-2004 10:58 AM

seconded, they are **** these wannabes. darkness = queen rip offs, jet = just rip offs in general from diana ross to the who, the datsuns and the strokes and the vines are all modern "classic" rock, and they suck mostly, apart from the datsuns on some songs (they even got jpj on their new album which is pretty ****in kool). Oasis if you remember are big rip offs as well of the beatles, t-rex and god knows who else, but its all in there.

Badmoon 06-26-2004 11:48 AM

^More like The Darkness and Jet are rip offs off of ACDC. I don't find Oasis to sound anything like The Beatles.

This is gonna suck is MX picks all mods for here who only listen to Metal. Then we'd be the bitch of the board.

VoodooChild 06-26-2004 02:18 PM

Nothing is gonna happen to us or this thread. They will pick good, deserving mods. Everything will be "like a beast in a cage in an old Dutch zoo"...~~..."wooOOOOooooOOO FeeEEEeeee, trying to live a life that's completaly free"...........just kidding. Good song by the way. Everything is gonna be fine. Oh, now "Squirming Coil" is playing. I'm off...

^what about em?

Sackonaise 06-26-2004 09:51 PM

Lets not flame new bands for trying to sound like classic rock bands.
1) it would be worse if they sounded like anything else
2) many great bands were basically ripoffs (rolling stones, anyone?)

Space Ace 06-26-2004 10:03 PM

asdfasdf123123 06-26-2004 10:05 PM

Badmoon 06-26-2004 10:18 PM

Possibly Johnny Kidd and the Pirates, but they were more strait up Blues.
