Sick, sick.

^Nice

Bonnaroo has some great acts as always, but this year there are so many big-name bands that ticket prices will just be outrageous. I'm gonna stick to festivals like Allgood, 10K, etc this summer.

DSO is dank, always a great show.

Also, the 6-10-73 show is good, especially the third set with the Allmans sitting in. Otherwise, I found it to be pretty standard without much that really stood out. Solid through and through but it doesn't compare to the mastery of the fall shows later that year.

UmphreysHead 02-12-2008 08:11 PM

I was thinking about attending Burning Man this year, but those raver ****s are so annoying. My favorite that I currently have 1969-04-21 - The Ark (GD), so hetty.

Jaded 02-12-2008 10:56 PM

Everyone goes to burning man. It's not a "rave." There's all kinds of different stuff there.

KMidura 02-13-2008 03:55 PM

Greyspoke just announced plans for a Tour in June. Something like 20 shows in 30 days.

They'll make it as far west as St. Louis/Chicago/Milwaukee,
and as far South as Virginia Beach. (Based out of Burlington, VT)

if you haven't (or if you have) heard them before, here's a great show from Archive:

http://www.archive.org/details/gsv2007-12-08.sbd

Highlights (*and if you're only listening to one):
Set 1:
d1t2.) Frozen in the Rim -> Eight -> Driving in the Dark (21:55)
d1t4.) Handcuff Shake -> Caucasian Thunderbang -> Salsa Dance on the Green Riptide (21:11)
d1t6.) Fire Cracker (10:12)

Set 2:
d2t1.) *Jam -> Jameson -> Chariots of Fire -> Chimney Sweep (25:29)
d2t3.) Shakedown Street (The Grateful Dead) (14:31)
d2t4.) Waltz on Gibraltor (with heavy The Other One tease) (14:27)

Lowlights:
d1t5.) I'll Sleep When I'm Dead (Warren Zevon) (5:26)

I hope so, ****in' tweaker faggots and E kids piss me off, but 4mg of DOC should make that all better. Hahaha.

Jaded 02-14-2008 12:59 AM

Haha. No, it's surprisingly diverse. It's not just a huge outdoor rave. It's a temporary small town of all the trippiest sh*t you can imagine. DOC? I'm not familiar with that one, is it synthetic?

UmphreysHead 02-14-2008 11:15 AM

Yeah, it's an amphetamine-based psychedelic that lasts for 24-27 hours. ****in' badass. It's similar to DOB and DOM, if you've heard of those.

UmphreysHead 02-15-2008 01:06 AM

Holy ****, holy ****, holy ****, holy ****, holy ****, HOLY ****!
I just got a recording of Space Antelope (Trey's band with The Dude Of Life) from 1983. They play I Am Hydrogen, Run Like An Antelope, The Divided Sky, Slave To The Traffic Light (amongst others), and there are 3 sick acid induced jams; and the first official Phish gig from 1984-11-03. I'm so ****in' happy.

Doctor D. 02-16-2008 11:37 AM

The Langerado schdule is out, and there are soooo many hard decisions. Help?

http://www.jambase.com/festivals/langerado/

dub sean 02-17-2008 11:10 AM

wow, tough choices. You'll have fun with any of em pretty much. What's with the overlapping Sts9 and Umphrey's! I would go with Sts9 presonally.

UmphreysHead 02-17-2008 02:06 PM

I'd take Umphrey's any day, I don't like the Electronica style that STS9 are moving toward.

FOWL 02-27-2008 06:25 PM

Hey, check out my one man jam band! www.myspace.com/fowlmusic
Pretty unique and interesting stuff! Here's a review
FOWL - InaStorMental: This being our first listen to Noah's weird works, we weren't quite sure what we were getting ourselves into, especially when that high-horn synth/bass/drum thang kicked in at about 2:00 on "MoFo Heat - Part 1 - Warming Up"... lotza "buzz", some fair amount o' "fuzz" (guitar) & lots of strange electronic energies being captured to entertain your braincase. You will NOT find music like this in other review 'zines, as they're unwilling to exceed their own expectations (or limitations, however you see it)... of course, that's never true at this magazine... in fact, we WANT the odd, the improvised, & the totally tanked. By the time you get to the screwy spoken-word lines on track 3, "MoFo Heat - Part 3 - Take a Cold Shower", you'll either go take one (a shower, that is), lock yourself in the loony bin, or rush right out & volunteer for the Noah Campbell "Peace World Tour"... terrorists would find this incomprehensible, so we should pipe it into Guantanamo 666 hours a day... ha! ha! Seriously (are you KIDDING, Metcalf?), if you want to hear something totally different, this is your ticket to the show! "Serious" fans of jazz will be shocked, but that's better than NOT hearing this fantastic voyage into the ghost of Uncle Frank Zappa... I give this a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for fans of the insane.
