I don't know how many times we've discussed Frank Zappa, or if we ever have, but he's awesome. Apostrophe is a great album, listened to it yesterday.
What band are you two talking about?
Frank Zappa is a guy we could talk about forever. Mostly because he made about 3,000 albums. I love what I have of him, but there's still a lot of material I'd like to have. |
Hey magicbus sign on.
|
Sure, I can.
Woow Doors avatar, rep for that and randomly repping me the other day  |
By the way, I picked up Eddie Hazel's "Jams From the Heart" today. Anyone else have it?

Would anyone happen to have any Quicksilver Messenger Service that could be sent over AIM?
|
I guess I can send you guys Happy Trails, if my computer will let me.
|
I guess I can send you guys Happy Trails, if my computer will let me.
If you did, I would rep + you 500 times. |
I asked first..... :upset:
|

500, eh? Make it 550 and you got a deal :p |

Sheik isn't his best material, methinks. You'd be best off getting some stuff from the Mothers (Freak Out! or We're Only In It For the Mothers), and for solo stuff Cheap Thrills and Over-Nite Sensation would be a good start. |
Hot Rats, Freak Out, or Apostrophe are good starters.
|

Yeah I can't anymore :upset: |
I've only heard one song by QMS, but I really liked it, I forget what it was called though
The lyrics went kinda like: Now I don't ever want to spoil your party babe, or tell you where to go or what to do all I ever wanted to do was know you and maybe hope you could know me too |
Does anyone agree that The Queens Of The Stoneage are one of the best new classic rock influenced bands?
I was listening to them before and I realised how much they sound like zeppelin, the who, the doors etc. |

They were great friends with Jefferson Airplane. |
They were great friends with Jefferson Airplane.
Yeah, that stuff is the only rock I can listen to and immediatly recognise what city it came from. Exept maybe for that early punk from London I love some of the Grateful Dead songs in that style, like Sugar Magnolia or When the Morning comes (I only have American Beauty :upset: ) |
How many bands were involved with the psychedellic San Fransico scene?
|
How many bands were involved with the psychedellic San Fransico scene?
Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother And The Holding Company, Quicksilver Messenger Service, The Byrds and too many others. |
Hmm..
I'll name the ones I'm aware of: Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, Love, The Doors, QMS (?maybe?) uh..that's it :( |
Probably more than we will ever know, like garage bands and stuff
The Doors were there in that time period in that area, but I wouldn't say their sound is like most of the other Frisco bands, or like anything else at all, they were really different |
Yea I dont know about The Doors. The Doors were about the L.A. strip and so were the Byrds and Love (I think).
Speaking of Love...for the 5th time Badmoon how was Forever Changes? |
Speaking of Love...for the 5th time Badmoon how was Forever Changes?
I like it. I have some of the songs on my ipod. |
I can detect a little Sabbath (but not a lot) in QotSA
|
Weren't Canned Heat and Hot Tuna some San Fransisco bands?
|
Was Donovan SF or East-coast?
Is Hot Tuna more or less Bluegrass-influenced? I missed a chance to see them at Grey Fox (Bluegrass Festival) in NY State this summer |
Yes, I forgot Canned Heat. Santana was a San Fransisco band also.
