If you're making a chronological compilation, make sure the last two tracks are songs by Taking Back Sunday and My Chemical Romance.
I like the uber history. I feel like some must have songs are "Woolworm" by Indian Summer, "Postlapsaria" by Saetia, and "JCM 143" by You and I.
Believe it or not, I started writing a list, and those were among the first songs i wrote down. I only want one song from each band and those sprung to mind for each of those.

This history CD got a lot more attention than I expected. I just wanted to announce I was making a CD for my friends to listen to so i dont have to hassle them to download stuff, now its almost a forum project, which is radddd.

Sharkboyyy 08-31-2006 08:25 PM

Funeral Diner, Raein, Make Me, La Quiete, and Kaospilot should probably be on that list, too. Especially because some of those bands differentiate from the others stylewise a lot, but are still considered screamo.

Matt? 08-31-2006 08:31 PM

i like all those bands but seriously some of those haven't really had that big of an impact.

make me... i mean i like them but come on... they certainly aren't waranted for the list

ps. larry bird ep is now my favorite album i own. suckas

Yeahhh, I will agree with that, the whole impact thing. Make Me isn't really big at all, the only reason I put their name in there is because their sound is fairly unique compared to other bands.

Arrakakaka 08-31-2006 10:07 PM

French/Italian screamo is the shiz man.

Matt? 08-31-2006 10:16 PM

"screamo is tight"

:)

Jesus Christ, Envy was incredible. Life At These Speeds played really well to and Sleeping People might be one of the trippiest bands I have ever heard. I picked up Source Tags And Codes on Vinyl and Yaphet Kotto's The Killer Was In The Government Blankets on vinyl. Also got an awesome Envy shirt and There Were Wires- Somnambulists on CD. I was gonna get two I Hate Myself 12"s but I got Yaphet Kotto instead. They had a really nice CD collection and I saw a neat An Albatross 7".

But yeah, one of the best live performances I've ever seen.

pixiesfanyo 09-01-2006 02:07 AM

when i did my history of punk rock project for class the three bands i used for emo were Indian Summer, Pg.99, and Hot Cross. To show the evolution and all.

Sleeper 09-01-2006 02:34 AM

I love the intro's to Indian Summer's songs.

And how did the class take that.

I was here
Because I was ready to leave
It should mean more, but it can't
So dance dance
Dance to the sounds
Of America's best dressed fake out.

I love that song.

They only complained when I played Ghost Mice.

Dextomethorphan 09-01-2006 02:34 PM

Hahaha
Gosh I love Ghost Mice. But why complain about them after hearing other stuff that you undoubtedly played

That song is soooo awesome
I love Yaphet Kotto.
Yeah they're a good band. The pop-punkish vocals with the screaming are real tight.

Does anyone have any Still Life? They're elusive on soulseek.

My IM screenname is Arrakakaka.

Remember the three ka's.

Matt? 09-01-2006 04:34 PM

seen that pine video before. it owns.

Probably because of the vocals and lyrics. I can see a lot of people having problems with those.

cobert 09-01-2006 06:53 PM

Gimme some of you guyzes slsk names.

I would use limewire thats already on my computer, but its being gay and I cant download because it doesnt have the music publishers license.

And i need 4 or five of the best of the best modern emo bands (from the 2000's) to put on the CD.

White Goodman 09-01-2006 07:37 PM

My slsk name is James Bondage. Would pg. 99, Circle Takes the Square, or Hot Cross make that list and if not, then I guess I would say Raein or Amanda Woodward next. I guess my opinon probably wouldn't be the best to judge since I've only been on here for like 2 weeks or so.

cobert 09-01-2006 07:45 PM

I know City of Caterpillar is going on there, and that pg99 is definitely going to be on there somewhere. Hot Cross is arguable. Id like to have CTTS, but i need to think about it a little bit more.

All downloading programs piss me off, thats why I just buy albums. For the same reason, thats why i dont have much music. :-/
