APA references preferrably.

Jom 09-30-2007 04:15 PM

Fuck it, it's better than what it originally was.

i am the robots 09-30-2007 04:16 PM

Haha, thanks Jom. :)

I feel honour-bound to explain a few things:

Essays should almost always be in third-person, unless you are writing your 8th grade speech for class president, or are doing a Bachelor of Arts *s******* at University. Third-person is: "Riva schooled Hbp and Mappy on third-person in an extremely brutal way".
First-person is: "LOL I AM QUEER".

See the difference?

And abstracts are so vital to the essay process. It's not meant to be easy to get a big avatar, so I think Orlando's idea is a good one. If you post an essay with the intention of wheedling a large avatar, either Vince, Jom or I will check over it. If we find it unsatisfactory, we'll give you one chance to edit it. Then if it is still not up to scratch, it's a 3 day holiday to Bantown flying Mod Airlines return.

I'm just doing this because I don't want the forum to end up being chockers with big avatars again. Also: I think a 140x140 limit for the essay-won avatars might be in order.

Not necessarily, it depends on the circumstance. All my essays in my Mass. Comm class are encouraged to be written in the first person. Then again I'm doing a Bachelor of Arts *s*******

Angmar 09-30-2007 05:35 PM

That all seems fitting.

The widest I will go for avatars is 170 because it doesn't break the page. However, if its length is extremely clunky, I'm going to ask to cut it down. Something like 128 x 170 is nice for essays.

Otherwise, I agree with my comrades. In Soviet MX, bans mod you!

TojesDolan 09-30-2007 05:54 PM

hey i can say that too because I'm mexican

Anglachel 09-30-2007 09:39 PM

Do I have to write and essay for width of 112 and a height of 284?

Permanent Solution 09-30-2007 09:56 PM

You have to write an essay for any non-standard avatar.

Anglachel 09-30-2007 09:59 PM

But you guys dont even like most of the essays and still hand out avatars, why should I bother?

Cuz I really hate writing essays cant anythign else suffice? :(

i am the robots 09-30-2007 10:01 PM

This is absolutely hilarious. The essay thing.

It really just seems like it's a pain in the *** for the mods to give people big avatars, so they're making sure it's a pain in the *** to get them.

It's a fair trade.

Permanent Solution 09-30-2007 10:10 PM

We're also teaching you life skills, with regards to essays, citing sources, abstracts, you guys really ought to be thanking us but meh.

Ang: No essay, abstract and sources, no avatar.

Tyler 09-30-2007 10:11 PM

It's not hard at all. ModCP > Search for the User > Edit their Avatar with a URL. It's just not their job, that's all.

i am the robots 09-30-2007 10:12 PM

Oh well I hate you Tyler, did you ever think of that?

Permanent Solution 09-30-2007 10:13 PM

No, for me at least, it's "what on earth makes you more special than the average user who is stuck with a 70x70?" If you write an essay about why you deserve one I have an answer to my question of why you deserve preferential treatment.

Jom 10-01-2007 07:44 AM

Also, essays remind me of NPC 9_9

You kids have it so easy; he was extremely tough on people.

do you think you guys could do something about that? it comes up everytime i enter a recent dig on my profile.

Kage 10-01-2007 11:53 AM

This isn't the place to ask about that.

Jom 10-01-2007 12:02 PM

It's a known bug; however, use the Sputnikmusic forum to inquire about Sputnikmusic-related issues, please. Thanks.

my bad. :(

LifeInABox 10-01-2007 03:44 PM

Can I ask a question?

repcak 10-01-2007 03:46 PM

ask the question and don't ask if you can ask a question..

LifeInABox 10-01-2007 03:48 PM

What?

Once we have written our essay/abstract, do we get resonable big avatar choices for life, or do we need to write another one for each avatar change/request?

Vastness 10-01-2007 03:49 PM

wow

repcak 10-01-2007 03:49 PM

you got your avatar 2-3days ago and now you wanna change it?
or do you just ask...?

LifeInABox 10-01-2007 03:50 PM

Just a question. I love my avatar.

repcak 10-01-2007 03:52 PM

i love mine too... but i had to ask riva 10x until he gave it to me... since that time i sooo gratful to riva :)

i will never change this avatar that fast... i love it to death :D
