ape them \m/
Kreator ripoffs can be good |
Because they think it's new and exciting.
|
yeh. i guess everything has been done before. L:(
http://www.myspace.com/mentallydefiled these guys are like old speed stuff |
Speaking of Kreator, I just got into them. Great stuff.
|
some of those bands on that list really really really blow. For example I've seen some of the new LA thrash bands such as Fueled by Fire, Merciless Death and Warbringer. Warbringer is the only half decent one there. The singer of Merciless Death needs to seriously stop.
Some bands need to completely stop. I saw another LA band once call D.A.F. (Drunk As Fuck) or maybe it was Drunk As Shit) But they were a complete rip-off band. They played 2 songs I can remember one called The Ballad of Mister Miagi and it was totally just S.O.D.'s Ballad of Jimmi Hendrix. WAX ON WAX OFF WAX ON WAX OFF YOU'RE DEAD!! It was retarded. Additionally, the other song was another rip-off of Nuclear Assault's Hang the Pope. It was a blatant rip-off sounded exactly like the song, only thing was they just said, "Kill a cop, kill a cop kill cop!". If the majority of them would sit down and try to make a song and not rip off other bands it'd be fine. |
But-cher
But-cher But-cher You're Ken! |

Dammit. Anyways, speaking of new thrash metal bands, I'm kind of pissed that I was going to see PC Deathsquad on the 6th but it has been cancelled, though I'll be seeing them on the 13th with Hirax. Too bad I think Hirax sucks. |
u suck
|
Evile
Mutant Headless Cross Hexen
I enjoy these bands, which are the only bands on that list i've heard of. I will be seeing Mutant and Evile live in a couple of days. \m/ I think thrash is making a comeback as well. NP: Sodom - Lead Injection |
u suck
noe u Seriously, I could never see what the fuss is about Hirax. |
Hirax are alright, but they're not really anything special.
Katon is the man though. |

Bands like Fueled by Fire, Hatchet, Merciless Death, Warbringer, Rattlehead, and all the other bands that dress like it's still 1985 are so lame. They are nothing but ripoffs. All they do is take Exodus and Vio-lence riffs, make them unoriginal, and play them. It's all speed picking! And the vocals are horrendous. I think if you put all of them on a compilation cd you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between each band. /Rant |

You pretty much described the modern Thrash scene. There are a couple of exceptions though. |
You pretty much described the modern Thrash scene.
There are a couple of exceptions though.
It's sad really. Nothing new is being put into the genre, I don't think that they realize they'll never get anywhere past the local clubs if they aren't interesting. There aren't enough idiot fans to sustain mediocre thrash bands anymore. This doesn't really matter, but I have noticed that all the people into this stuff are Mexican. 95% anyways, it's really funny to see these guys with beaner staches running around with $100 Reeboks, tight pants, denim vests and bullets. It's sad again, they're dressing up, to be thrash, which is exactly what it isn't supposed to be. They're acting like hair metal guys. |
Yeah, it ridiculous. The bad thing was I almost fell into that crap. Luckily I got my head out of my ***. All this new thrash sucks.
Thrash used to be my favorite, but now it's really hard for thrash to impress me. I hardly listen to it anymore sadly. Occasionally I'll listen to Vio-lence or Hypnosia or something, but for some reason it really stopped appealing to me one day. |
It still appeals to me, but I don't listen to it much anymore. It gets to the point where you are just checking out really average bands given how long Thrash's golden period lasted.
|
My old band was thrash, and I always thought we were much better than those bands like Merciless Death, because we always saw them as generic and we figured just don't be like them, but after a while I just kind of realized it's all been done before and it's so worn out anyway. It totally put me off.

Exactly, what are you gonna do that Metallica/Slayer/Testament/Vio-lence/Death Angel/Kreator/Megadeth/Sadus/Exodus/Sepultura hasn't already done? Be faster? No. More creative and still sound mostly thrash? No. More technical? No. These bands are all rip-offs of rip-offs. It's thrash for the stupid sake of thrash. |

Or maybe it's thrash for the stupid sake of playing the music that you love, without caring what people like YOU think? If people enjoy playing it, so be it. You don't have to listen to it. |
Okay....he never told them to stop playing.
|

I don't tell them to stop playing it, it just sounds bad and it's silly. They love it to the point where they're hurting it and giving thrash a bad name. |
I hardly ever listen to thrash, save Municipal Waste, Ghoul, and a couple Slayer songs. The genre doesn't interest me as much as it used to. No bands are really taking the genre to new levels right now, so it's kind of boring.
|
Thrash died in the 80's and early 90's. I don't think it will ever come back, but thats ok cause nothing will ever replace the classics anyway.
|
I guess if it's kept at a local level, I don't really care. But it's bands like Toxic Holocaust that are pretty popular that blatantly rip off bands like Kreator that I have a problem with.
|
Thrash now is pretty much a self-parody now. I'll just keep to the classics. The thing is that I rarely even listen to the classics anymore :(
It's just retched the point where it can't grow or stay interesting anymore. |
I'm going on a pretty big Thrash binge right now. Overkill's still my top metal band, but other than them, I've only come to like a couple others (Exodus and Death Angel).
So I'm asking, what are some Thrash groups similar to those that I should look out for?? |

I really like them. They're very unique
