Marching band camp? Oooooh. Have fun with that.

I had it the week before last. All week 8AM-5PM. But I'm in the pit, so I didn't have to learn drill or anything. :p

I had a dream last night where Bright Eyes was playing in some random location in a mall. So far, that's my second dream with Bright Eyes in it.

It probably means something.
Which band camp?
Marching band.

It probably won't be that bad, because I'm the right guide and one of the oldest/best/most respected players there, but I know it will be hot as hellllll.

Zappa 08-07-2005 12:39 PM

I was in marching band for one game before I decided I had to get out.

What instrument do you play? Alto saxophone?

Electrocution 08-07-2005 01:01 PM

Will you have any, you know, "special" relationships with your instrument? You know, like in that pie movie.

masada 08-07-2005 01:13 PM

I'll be trying out for jazz band this coming school year. I don't really want to do it anymore, so I hope they pick someone else.

The last dream had Conor Oberst playing organ in our school cafeteria, with some random drummer playing some jazzzzzzz.

You can't avoid their boring charms.

JonM 08-07-2005 02:53 PM

I mean, who wouldn't be?

Why are the same words from ( ) coming back on Takk... It's okay, I just thought it was over.
The last dream had Conor Oberst playing organ in our school cafeteria, with some random drummer playing some jazzzzzzz.
According to the Wordsworth Dictionary of Dreams, "To hear doleful singing and organ accompaniment denotes you are nearing a wearisome task, and probable loss of friends or position." Furthermore, to hear the beating of a drum signfies "some absent friend is in distress and calls on you for aid."

I think it's pretty obvious what you must do.

More like mind numbing charms.

Little Man being Erased 08-07-2005 03:51 PM

I had a nice weekend. I saw Sigur Rós on Friday night, did not much on saturday, had dinner with friends and went to see Land of the Dead on saturday night, then did nothing much on Sunday. Sigur Rós were amazing, Land of the Dead was ok.

How was everybody else's weekend?

JonM 08-07-2005 03:58 PM

My weekend was pretty good. There was a huge march for voters' rights yesterday, which was inspiring and successful, and then I went to a great drum circle, then a bit of a ridiculous party, but ridiculous in a good way. Today, Mike and I nearly finished our next song, which is way more ambitious than the last one. I'm having lyrical trouble, but I'll get it done.

Zappa 08-07-2005 04:02 PM

Today I went shopping for clothing. I'm breaking my 4 year trend of only wearing black t-shirts this year. Blue, purple, brown, and green are all now included in my wardrobe.
Unless this adventure is leading you closer to a sexual relationship with this girl, the fact that she is hot does not have any real relevance at all to your situation. That said, if all you can say about her is that she's hot, the trip may or may not have been worth it at all.
It is leading me towards a sexual relationship with her.

Zappa 08-07-2005 04:06 PM

Wear a condom.

JonM 08-07-2005 04:25 PM

The "Other Music" forum is kind of obsolete, isn't it? We totally encompass it. Perhaps our name isn't very accurate, but it also helps keep away the fools.

snidget 08-07-2005 04:27 PM

We've had our share of fools today. Or maybe it's just the fact that I'm feeling grumpy

JonM 08-07-2005 04:27 PM

Yeah I saw you school that mofo in the YSI thread. Well done. Is it that time of the month, Snidgy?

YDload 08-07-2005 04:28 PM

I think the Community thread should be in Other Music so we can post pictures :)

snidget 08-07-2005 04:30 PM

Thanks, no sarcasm detected.

I've been "housesitting" for a while, I guess this is what I'm going to be like when I'm on my own. Responsibility sucks

JonM 08-07-2005 04:33 PM
Thanks, no sarcasm detected.
None intended.

It's a burden and a blessing, I think. I quite like it, but I'm older than you, right? That changes things very quickly.

On an unrelated note, when I get back from dinner, I'm gonna start a discussion thread that's gonna blow y'alls minds.

BillCosby 08-07-2005 06:48 PM

Me and my friend are trying to decide what to do tonight, and having very little luck considering most of our city is comprised of Disneyland, and other tourist related things.

And no, we don't want to go to Disneyland.
