ELO yes, but I dont' know Split Endz off the top of my head.
Split Enz are a '70s popular rock band from New Zealand/Australia who sometimes verge on pop, which is why I was a bit worried. Some of my favourite songs are Six Months In A Leaky Boat, I Got You, and Message To My Girl. |
Generally, "classic rock" isn't considered a genre with a particular sound but music that came from a particular era (1964 or so to 1979 is the general parameter), so technically Split Enz fits.
|
True, I don't think it is right for people to consider "classic rock" a genre.
Here is what I have so far. I made a random site to host it.
http://www.geocities.com/badmoon349/Fennario.html
Hehe, I was just thinking to my self the other day "wow, Warren Haynes have sure played with a lot of people over the years". Indeed ;) He will be touring with The Grateful Dead (filling in for Jerry while he does whatever the hell he's doing) very soon I believe. |
The Hendrix Box set owns. There are many cool covers on there, such as "Like a Rolling Stone", and "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band."

rock not roll: Jerry Garcia is dead...
rock not roll: Jerry Garcia is dead...
That's why Warren is filling in for him. |
(filling in for Jerry while he does whatever the hell he's doing)
Makes it sound like Garcia isn't dead, but I could be reading into it wrong. |

Maybe I read it wrong? |

The Dead's site has yet to mention anything, but they also haven't updated in like two years. |
Maybe, he is pretty scary looking now, kinda like Steve Howe.
Yeah Dylan might look scary, but he looks like a model compared to steve howe |

Man, I've always wanted to hear his version of Sgt. Pepper's. It would probably be the most badass thing of all time. I heard he played it live the weekend after the album came out, which is pretty amazing. |
Funny note about Hendrix and "Sgt. Pepper's"...back when he was going to make his debut at a club in England in 1967, just a few weeks after Sgt. Pepper's was released, just about every relevent musician (including Lennon and McCartney) was attending it. Hendrix took the stage and opened his set with a big, loud cover of "Sgt. Pepper's" (he covered it and made it sound like a Hendrix song...I don't know how to adequately explain it) and everyone in the crowd was dumbstruck.
I don't know if that's the version on the box set, but I felt like sharing it anyway. |

i have a few split endz albums but im not a very big fan of them. i couldn't imagine Hendrix doing Sgt Peppers. does he like actually sing? or just hoarsely shout the lyrics, like with a few (many) of his songs? |

yeah, i own a few hendrix bootlegs and his version of like a rolling stone is killer, I wonder if he complains about the stage equipement as much in the official releases? |
I'll sling a question out there: what makes "Born to Run" better than "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" or "Runnin' with the Devil" (both of which were popular contemporary rock songs)?
|
They show a few seconds of the Hendrix Sgt. Pepper performance on the Beatles Antology DVD set. It was pretty cool.
|
Hendrix covers Sgt. Pepper? That's news to me! I have to see that sometime.

Not that much, usually he just says "Turn the vocals down and the band up alittle bit" or something like that. |

Yea it's very cool, but I think it's only on the Hendrix Box Set(any probably bootlegs). I also like Hendrix's cover of Sunshine of Your Love. |
Is it on the box set too?
I think need to get this box set. |
Is it on the box set too?
I think need to get this box set.
No, I believe it's on the BBC Sessions. There is also a clip of it on the Cream Dvd. |
Oh, that's on the Christmas list so hopefully I'll get it. By Cream DVD do you mean Strange Brew?
