Definitely.

food for thought: do hipsters know they're hipsters?
It's one of the requirements, I think.

catharsis 02-24-2008 06:48 PM

Of course they do. Nobody subconsciously buys bright pink bandanas to tie around their neck.

asdf 02-24-2008 06:48 PM

I think the answer is yes in most cases.

I went to my local hipster coffee house to go do homework, but they were remodelling. Now I'm in my room not doing homework again.

Liebensaft 02-24-2008 07:06 PM

Yeah, I guess you can't be that cool without making an effort.

Bukowski 02-24-2008 07:10 PM

VU, Stooges undeniably cool

Rory, my local record store had that "I Dig Chicks" album posted up among the slew of hilarious album covers that cover the wall. I lol'd.

Edit: I was just informed that one of the people that played with Kimya was Paul Baribeau. He was alright.

sweboy 02-25-2008 12:05 PM

In the second edition of the "Less talk more Rawk: Sweboy posts YouTube videos in the community thread" series, we enjoy a moment of a scorching mind-melt ritual courtesy of half man, half demon from the future Keiji Haino. He may be old but he can still rock.

It's a great album cover. I'm pretty jealous of my friend who bought it. Definitely worth 50 cents.

I like Paul Baribeau because he's just a bumbling midwestern guy who wrote a lot of songs pertaining to places in West Michigan that I know or lived in.

And that Kimya Dawson song "Tire Swing" gives reference to my home town.

perriwinkle 02-25-2008 01:29 PM

Man, started going to the gym and it's killing me.

Bukowski 02-25-2008 03:13 PM

My wrists are killing me because I've suddenly started playing drums again after a year of slacking off. At least an hour a day for the last 2 weeks. It's worthwhile so far, I'm back to being really good at least. At the moment, I'm jamming with friends every Tuesday and I'm starting a band with some guys from college so time to step it up.

Eliminator 02-25-2008 03:14 PM

i would play drums more, but my set is a piece of ****

my band wants me to start playing drums now because our guy quit

Bukowski 02-25-2008 03:16 PM

my set is a piece of **** as well, especially since it's lay wasting in my garage for a year. I need to save up for a new one, but I have no job so nothing to save.

Eliminator 02-25-2008 03:19 PM

yeah my set would be okay if i were in some noisy rawk band

but metal and horrible sounding drums dont really go together

Bukowski 02-25-2008 03:27 PM

so what do you currently play in this metal band, Eliminator, if not drums?

Eliminator 02-25-2008 03:28 PM

guitar

YDload 02-25-2008 03:31 PM

hey guys i play my musical instrument regularly and here are some simple songs i have figured out:

samariah 02-25-2008 03:34 PM

i just started learning to play drums. i wish i could practice more but as of now i can only do so at a friends house whose parents also live there. so i have to be there while his parents aren't home otherwise its too loud for them.

Anxious 02-25-2008 03:41 PM

I want to buy a cheap drum set from Target and learn, before I spend my hard earned money on real ones.

Eliminator 02-25-2008 03:42 PM

i got mine from some hick that lived in the middle of nowhere

probably not the best person to buy an instrument from

Anxious 02-25-2008 03:45 PM

I have 3 basses, one of which is a converted fretless.

I used to be really serious about it until the summer. I hated the rut my style was getting into and haven't really touched them since. I pick it up every once in a while to realize I'm still out of ideas.
