I learned the beginning of the RTL solo today... then its starts getting to hard.
the first like 20 secs are really easy...then it gets longer and longer and theres no way i can play that long of a solo

KILO5203 03-03-2005 09:42 PM

Yeah same thing with one, but not quite 20 seconds. I suck at solos, 'cept the intro solos.

\m/Pete\m/ 03-03-2005 10:20 PM

YES!!! Ok i know this isnt really Metallica related, but i saw that you all were talking about solos and today i had FINALLY played the solo to Walk in one effort...

phew ok...im so happy now

anyways, i can play the intro solo in FTB, intro and middle of Sanitarium, intro of One, slow solo in MoP, and i think thats it

I'mhungryForASandwich 03-03-2005 10:39 PM

Metallica rocks. I want to get some of their DVDs. Which ones should I get?

KILO5203 03-03-2005 10:44 PM

The only ones I've seen are the Live Sh*t Binge and Purge DVDs, and those are very good. It's pretty expensive though.

\m/Pete\m/ 03-03-2005 10:56 PM

Don't forget "A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica"...it's about Metallica recording the Black album and going on tour to support the album. It's awesome.

Question:

I went to see Metallica last year in Columbus,Oh and I went to the site and bought the audio download of the concert. On some of there shows there was something called Jungessance or something like that....I don't recall a song with this title I am guessing it is Truijo's solo? Because Kirk solos where called Kirk Doodle or something like that. In Columbus Truijo had no solo....hell.... they never mentioned his name or introduced him to the crowd. James introduced Kirk several times and he mentioned Lars name during the last song.

Yup. Junglessance is the name of Trujillo's solo, and it kicks arse.

While I am at it might as well share my first experience hearing Metallica

I remember a loooooong time ago when a few friends went to see Ozzy back in the 80's and all i heard was some group named Metal something opened up for Ozzy and the blew Ozzy off the stage. At that time I live ate s*** and drank Iron Maiden. I was too engulfed in them to pay any attention to Metallica(hard to believe). This was around the time of the Powerslave Tour by Iron Maiden . Then I went to see the Caught Somewhere in Time tour by Iron Maiden.

I guess in 88 Metallica came to Dayton,Oh and to Cincinatti,Oh with Queensryche. My first four concerts were 2 Iron Maiden and 2 Metallica concerts.
( got busted by the Cincinatti DEA for a bowl of weed, they caught me because they were dressed like they were going to the concert!) I almost went to jail instead of the concert!! But luckily I made it in and saw the show!! I can still remember the falling Statue of Liberty and the Stage light that came swinging over James Head!!They also threw a pie in Hammets face because it was his birthday(Cincinatti Gardens)Nov. 18 ,1988

cool.

Stay away from my family.

lecky 03-04-2005 12:29 AM

i find it funny that that kid (biggest sum41 fan ever) or whatever put a pointless post saying he didnt like metallica, when if hes even listened to sum41's new stuff it has a very metallica feel. seriously people download the bitter end. its got nothing on battery but its pretty similar, and the solo's are pretty insane - peace

6stringslinger 03-04-2005 12:33 AM

Leper 03-04-2005 01:01 AM

So anyone heard any new and exciting news from the world of Metallica to discuss?

Six Foot Revolver 03-04-2005 01:51 AM

nope

Leper 03-04-2005 02:07 AM

how unfortunate.

mprules 03-04-2005 02:09 AM

no, what did you expect...

Leper 03-04-2005 02:31 AM
no, what did you expect...
You know i'm not entirely sure what i expected..i'm just very very bored.

The_Riddler 03-04-2005 05:09 AM

Well, it's not too exciting. But Metallica's message board got hacked once again. That has to piss a lot of people off.

Anyway, I think I have finally lost my Metallica...ism. I have listened to them for 5+ years pretty much straight, and now everytime I listen to them I get extremely bored with em'. Don't worry I am not trying to bash them in anyway, it sucks knowing that I will never be into them like I was before though. :(

Riva 03-04-2005 05:38 AM

I used to be the biggest Metallica fanboy around. I still am a fanboy, but now I accept other bands as being just as good.

supra_speed 03-04-2005 05:50 AM

Metallica died a long time ago. Heck they're not even metal any more. Sad isnt it :(. Wish they held themseleves together like Megadeth and Slayer.

Squirrel 03-04-2005 05:53 AM

Well, Megadeth didnt exact hold together did they ..

They had constant lineup changes, massive drug problems and they split up remember ?
theyre playing their last UK show in a few months too ..

munky_magik 03-04-2005 05:55 AM

Define metal.

You knew it was coming :p

Riva 03-04-2005 06:03 AM

Abbr. M Any of a category of electropositive elements that usually have a shiny surface, are generally good conductors of heat and electricity, and can be melted or fused, hammered into thin sheets, or drawn into wires. Typical metals form salts with nonmetals, basic oxides with oxygen, and alloys with one another.

I disagree on a number of these points. It says nothing about the relationship with classical music, the frequent use of 3/4 time, the use of distortion, etc...
