That's sorta how I feel
That's sorta how I feel
Good, that's what I like to hear. Try running a company, if that doesn't burn you out then you'll be a-okay. |
I'd like to concentrate on finishing school right now, thanks.
|
I get the feeling that I'll have to go for a MBA after uni.
|
Why's that? What are you doing?
|
Probably something Finance-related.
|
Ah yeah. Fun. Probably about as fun as Engineering.
|
Haha, you guys might as well be dead.
|
Except there's less maths (which I don't really mind eitherway) :). It's either that or Radio + Television, though the nearest school that offers that course is really sucky, or so I've heard.
|
Do Americans use college to describe all their post-secondary schools? Because in Canada you can either go to university or college. College being for the... not so gifted.
Me gose 2 college =)
Yep. See, I'm the "remedial community college" type. |
Haha, you guys might as well be dead.
No man, it's really rewarding. |
I still have no idea what I'm going to study after highschool.
|
I still have no idea what I'm going to study after highschool.
Me also. |
I'm just joking.
I think my college education is going to focus on music and technology. Hopefully I will learn about studio techniques and equipment, but if that doesn't "ring my chimes" as much as I expect it to, I will try to go into composition. If I am found to be a loser by all universities, as I'm sort of predicting, I don't know what I'll do. I hope I can get into a music program, because it's all I care about. I just don't know that I'm good enough. |
It bothers me that I only have one more year left of highschool and I have no direction whatsoever.
|
I managed to get a pretty good job out of my degree so I'm fairly happy.
|
It bothers me that I only have one more year left of highschool and I have no direction whatsoever.
Same here. I have a few major interests (music, painting, photography, cinema) but I'm not actually good enough at any of those things to pursue an actual career in said fields and it really worries me sometimes. :upset: np: Godspeed You! Black Emperor - 09-15-00 (part1) |
It bothers me that I only have one more year left of highschool and I have no direction whatsoever.
I'd say you're probably in the majority. |
That is probably true. But the problem with me is that I do well in most subjects and I tend to find a lot of things interesting, which makes it nearly impossible to narrow down career options.
|
I have no idea what colleges I want to apply to, what I want to major in, or what I want to have a career in.
I got a while (I'm a junior in high school), but still. I need to get on that. |
^ That's really not that long. You pretty much have to decide a few months into your senior year. It sneaks up on ya.
That's not entirely true. There are certain things you have to go to college for, regardless of your level of intelligence. There are also programs where you go to university and then you go to college to get hands on experience, like most engineering careers.
That's true, but not for engineering. That's a university program. My best friend is at Mac for engineering and my dad went to Ryerson.
Except there's less maths (which I don't really mind eitherway) . Mississuaga is close to so many universities/colleges though. You could go anywhere. |
I almost bought the Fargo DVD for $10 tonight.

Right now I'm thinking of either U of T or Ryerson. But York is another possibility. |
Haha. University is overrated. You're all likely to change your major or stay undeclared for like a year, and if your doing music you'll drop out.
Kinda off the topic, why the hell would anyone want to study music and break it down so much that it becomes work not interest? music is fun, it's not about education and forced learning man. |

That's always been my excuse for not studying music. I think my abilities have suffered as a result, though. |
Eugh... Le Tigre makes me cringe.
Well they're pretty horrible. |
I've been really thinking about graduating high school early next year, and going to college to pursue either/a combination of Literature, Fine Arts, Electronics, or Philosophy. Im really leaning towards the Literature, though, with a Fine Arts minor, although it is kindof a worthless major job-wise.

Nth Degree by Morningwood is officially addictive.

As is Electric Light Orchestra. Well, I'm off to bed. Goodnight everyone :) |

Plus it's waste. The only thing you can do with a music degree is become a teacher. |

Ew, what are you? 40? |

Ooh, my friends back home are pimping that band to me. |
oonts oonts

To a large extent it doesn't really matter what degree you have, just that you have a degree. A large proportion of graduates don't start a job in the same area as that of their degree. Companys just want to know that you can hack the workload. Choose a degree that you'll enjoy, although as Tangy said not something that you view as a major hobby. It takes all the fun out of it. |
I really want to go to Chicago. Brown seems appealing, too, but I don't know if I have the grades. My sisters got waitlisted at the latter and I'm pretty sure her grades were a lot better than mine. JonM, what was your GPA, etc. in highschool?

My GPA was 3.87, and my test scores were actually below average for Brown. It's not all about academic performance here. If you're a good writer, a thoughtful, passionate person, and the kind of person who wasn't at all satisfied by a high school education, and that obviously contributed to not performing as well in high school as you were capable of, that comes through in your application, and they like that. |
I got out of my first class this morning at 10... my next class isn't until 2.
4 hour break + no car + no friends to be found = most boring day ever. EDIT: Oh noes! I still have 2 and half hours to waste and my laptop battery is about to run out! What's my nerd ass supposed to do now? Talk to REAL people? That's no good... |
Eff Chicago.
