Well, then I should give it to you. Because Laughing Water is a recreation of that album.

Or you could of course buy Jazz is Dead's Blue Light Rain. Which covers Blues for Allah. Or you could get Jazz is Dead's live Great Sky River. Which does a bunch of stuff.

But I'd still recommend Laughing Water :).
I've heard some of Wake of the Flood, and thought it was excellent. And I listened to the samples of Laughing Water on Amazon and was impressed. I'm leaning towards buying it.

Actually Blue Light Rain caught my attention now. Which one do you think is better?

IAJP 01-21-2005 05:12 PM
i dont mind machine head. i like some of their songs a lot, a lot of their songs mediocrely, and a few of their songs little.
Have you heard "Lazy" and "Highway Star" ?
They're probbably my favourite songs off Machine head, and are both insanely underated too.

magicbus 01-21-2005 05:14 PM

I really like Jack Bruce.

Illmatic 01-21-2005 05:14 PM

Christ that was a tough poll.

And I can't believe Rage Against the fucking Machine is winning.

IAJP 01-21-2005 05:20 PM
i voted for the Doors,
Did anyone know I'm doing a featured artists on the Doors?

Illmatic 01-21-2005 05:20 PM

I'll be sure to check it out.
Actually Blue Light Rain caught my attention now. Which one do you think is better?
I've only heard samples of Blue Light Rain. But the reason I first bought Laughing Water was because I like Wake of the Flood more than Blues for Allah.

Pros - Laughing Water/Wake of the Flood

- Catchier and easily remembered songs
- Not one bad song.
- Two drummers
- Better cover :p

Cons - Laughing Water/Wake of the Flood

- No Billy Cobham

Pros - Blue Light Rain/Blues For Allah

- Three really catchy songs
- Original Instrumentals
- More experimental

Cons

- Original Instrumentals
- Less Catchy
-Less Emphasis on Melodies

Yea well all the Classic Rock votes are divided among the 6 or so great choices, so RATM and CoB are going to get through.

I think I might just flip a coin. I really doubt that either of them is going to be a bad choice.

Thanks man,
It's not due for a bit but you'll know when it is :).

Badmoon 01-21-2005 05:24 PM

Which ever one you buy, I'll give you the original Grateful Dead album. Mainly because you will probably appreciate the Grateful Dead and Jazz is Dead version more so than if you only owned the Jazz is Dead version.

Hopefully that made sense.

Badmoon 01-21-2005 05:26 PM

Wait, Blue Light Rain doesn't even have most the Blues For Allah songs. I'd definitley choose Laughing Water. But the ratings for Blue Light Rain are better, so...

Blue Light Rain = Mars Hotel + Blues For Allah

magicbus 01-21-2005 05:27 PM

I hate when we talk about Grateful Dead cause I suck at it so much.

Illmatic 01-21-2005 05:30 PM

I'm not too keen on the Grateful Dead, so I get aggravated when they come up.
Did anyone know I'm doing a featured artists on the Doors?
awesome. try to write it in your words (not that I'm assuming you are going to copy it). i've noticed some of the Featured Artists are basically just copy and pasted from websites, which is useless because they might as well just provide a link. i'm looking forward to reading yours, and i hope you don't take the easy way out.

today I was wearing one of my Jim Morrison shirts, and a guy in my math class asked who it was, and since it actually said Jim Morrison below his picture, I decided to propose a riddle by saying "that's mr mojo risin". within like two seconds he was like "that's pretty clever". i was suprised he got it so fast.

does anyone else find the new(er) CD Reviews site kind of a hassle?

BludgeonySteve 01-21-2005 05:33 PM

When Badmoon goes into his jam band talking spree nobody is spared.

I haven't heard of 80% of the bands he mentions :/

Badmoon 01-21-2005 05:34 PM

It is a bit of a hassle, and people notice my reviews less :(

IAJP 01-21-2005 05:34 PM
I hate when we talk about Grateful Dead cause I suck at it so much.
I don't mind the Grateful Dead, Dark Star is a near perfect example of a jam band on stage.
Other than that I like some of their hits, like "Uncle Johns Band, Truckin', Sugar Magnolia, Turn On Your Love Light" I haven't listened to them in absoultley ages though, I'll have to dig out the C.D soon.

I went with Blue Light Rain :upset:

But I did listen to the samples of the album and they sounded great.

I ended up ordering Willy and the Poor Boys, Beginnings, Aoxomoxoa, and Blue Light Rain.

No way man, I haven't copied it off anywhere, being my favourite band, I know a lot about the Doors, so I thought it'd be stupid not to write a featured artists on them.
I've finnished it already and it's due in for the end of March :( I'm such a nerd...

Good choices. Plus, I don't have Blue Light Rain, so you out did me in something relating to the Grateful Dead.

Good job, asshole

When I get it I'll send it to you if you're interested.

Illmatic 01-21-2005 05:58 PM

You know, I'm not keen on Led Zeppelin, but aside from "Immigrant Song", III is fantastic.

(is listening to "Tangerine")

IAJP 01-21-2005 05:59 PM

Jefferson Airplane own.
My favourites:High Flyin' Bird,It's No Secret,Come Up the Years,Somebody to Love (of course:p),Blues from an Airplane,White Rabbit,Plastic Fantastic Lover,The Ballad of You and Me and Pooneil,Volunteers.
I found myself listening to a lot of Californian acts lately..

magicbus 01-21-2005 05:59 PM

I absolutely love III. Tangerine is amazing. The whole album has that folkish type sound, not rockin, but it doesn't need to be.

And Lunch you're probably right.

I like "Gallows Pole" a lot, even though many will claim that they have no skill or ability in bluegrass/folk/traditional.

Jack Cassidy=Ownage on Bass(on the topic of Jefferson Airplane)

BludgeonySteve 01-21-2005 06:01 PM

I don't like to talk about Led Zeppelin in this thread and try to avoid it but I have to say that Zeppelin III is their most underrated album. It's my second favorite avter Houses.

w00t. also super cool post count!

Why can't we talk about Zeppelin? We have to get the Led out somehow.

Your postcount would be cool but Badmoon already did it. It's old news now.

MalcolmYoungRock 01-21-2005 06:06 PM

My favorite is Houses then II then I.

In order.

I >all to me.

Seriously, Presence is underrated.

IAJP 01-21-2005 06:11 PM

I still have to digress that Led Zeppelin III is my favourite.
All their albums are good to me. :)

theGirlwhoLived 01-21-2005 06:20 PM

classic rock is my favorite genre of music. my favorite band is led zeppelin, and i love the grateful dead, along with pink floyd, the who, etc.

wanton 01-21-2005 06:32 PM

On the Grateful Dead topic:

I am going to get Skull & Roses for my birthday. :thumb: How many songs on it are covers? Badmoon's review metioned that a lot of the songs were covers, not that it's a bad thing.

Immigrant Song, Gallows Pole and Tangerine are great tracks, it is without a doubt one of my favourite Led Zeppelin albums.

awesome. i'm looking forward to it.

I prefer the second side to Zep III. Two of my favourite Zeppelin songs are Gallows Pole and Hey Hey What Can I Do, I think they do a great job of more folky acoustic songs, just as good as their rock songs.

edit- and i didnt mean favourite songs from Zep III, I just meant out of all Zeps songs.
