Grudge 08-03-2005 11:03 PM

Probably been posted, but I don't give a ****. Does anybody have any info (Not baseless bull**** assumptions or rumors, I want real gold here) on the release date of the DVD or the next album? Toolband.com is probably just throwing **** out there to confuse readers, which they seem to enjoy, so if any of you have any actual first hand information on any TOOL news, it'd rawk the house.

Thanks.

Mr Herb 08-03-2005 11:07 PM

cd is rumored to come out april next year, dvd some time sooner

Magicaltroll 08-03-2005 11:18 PM

Wait... Who said April?

Mr Herb 08-03-2005 11:18 PM

I guess you werent here, but yes. . .they are the slowest bunch ever :(

Magicaltroll 08-03-2005 11:19 PM

So... Do we have proof about this?

Mr Herb 08-03-2005 11:21 PM

meh, not really. am jsut playing around to proove the point that that aril **** could be as true as any thing cause there isnt anything solid to believe in

denboy 08-03-2005 11:41 PM

I would guess that the dvd comes out after the album..
And that there'll be atleast 6 months between the album and dvd (even if the dvd comes out first)
I finally gave in and I'm downloading a lot of PT as well, because I simply can't find it to buy at a good price. Eventually I'd like to work up a legit collection, but I'm doing the same thing as you. I realized the other day I've heard five full PT albums, which is more than I was aware of. I've never heard Lightbulb Sun, becuase I think I foudn a good deal to purchase it and I'm going to do that, so I can't vouch for the quality of any of the other songs (although, is there ever really a doubt?).
I see no reason to buy their rare albums used, because it doesn't support the band in any way..

Mr Herb 08-03-2005 11:42 PM

I think itll be backwards, dvd comes out first

denboy 08-03-2005 11:43 PM

They've said something along the lines of that they want to focus on the album before working on the dvd

Mr Herb 08-03-2005 11:44 PM

meh am starting to not give a f uck, itll come out when ever it comes :(

Vandle 08-04-2005 12:50 AM

It all depends on what you'd define as wierd.

Darkness 08-04-2005 10:51 AM

Britton 08-04-2005 11:58 AM

Late on answering this, but I had to.

A lot of people don't seem to understand something that's so obvious to me, that it drives me crazy. I have never, not once, in my entire life, bought a CD from a band just to support the band. Besides raising their sales by one unit, the band sees VIRTUALLY NO MONEY from CD purchases. If you're really interested in supporting a band, go to shows and buy merchandise there, and download every album you want. That'll save you a lot of money and you'll still be supporting the band more than you ever will if you bought 30 copies of each of their CDs.

I buy CDs because I love the experience of opening a CD, having it in my hands, looking at the artwork, adding it to my CD collection. I don't download leaks because I like the anticipation of going to the store and buying the CD the day it comes out, opening it up and having fresh, exciting music to listen to.

I agree whole heartedly with this whole post. I don't buy CD's to support the band I buy it for the feeling. It's so much more fulfilling when you buy the CD.

Britton 08-04-2005 01:51 PM

That's what I did when I was getting all my Hendrix stuff together

Maynard doesn't believe in God, so one could assume he doesn't believe in Satan either. The album doesn't even have any cursing on it. Make your dad listen to it over and over until he sees the brilliance. Wait, than he wouldn't give it back to you either. hah.

Yes, very well put in only two sentences, as opposed to my whole rant. It just really steams me up sometimes.

Anyway, saw Pelican last night...it was awesome. The sound coming from the stage was unreal, it's like it's not even coming from only two guitars, a bass, and drums. Really epic stuff. However, the night was somewhat downed by the fucking shitty opening bands. Oh well, Pelican kicked major ass. The band stayed around to talk to the fans afterwards, it was really cool.

Tons and tons of smaller bands have been dropped from record labels because downloading has hurt their sales. While you're really not taking away much money from an artist by downloading, the chances of them staying on a label (which for a lot of small bands is a dream come true to be signed) become slim.

I've done my fair share of YSI downloading, but I've tried to avoid it whenever possible and I don't really download from file sharing programs like Limewire.
