Man. I suck at writing songs :(
At least you know the first thing about music so you can at least attempt it. Meh, I can write lyrics well enough, I suppose. NP-Running Wild-Final Gates |
:( It's okay, it takes some time to get a solid song together, that's why I choose to write poems, hah, kiddin'
NP: Dumbass teacher. |
I have ideas a plenty, it's just sticking them together that sucks.
|
I get writer's block all the time, nothing feels worse, IMO.
|
Indeed. I'm envious of people who can just come up with songs on the spot.
|
Man. I suck at writing songs :(
Now that I've gotten guitar pro 4, I have been writing out the ***, and I can write all instruments, though the songs are only the basis for the final copy. |
I can do that but I really know I can write better, I can write an okay poem in like 2 mintues but it wouldn't exceed my ability. It's a little draining writing a poem but if it comes out good, it's all worth it.
|
I write the guitars for songs using powertab. I'm ok I guess. I'm proud of myself usualy of my own stuff...:p
I dont base my songs on scales and al that theory though...I dont know any :( so I just go by ear, or play around with a few chords and use those notes who go well with those chords and stuff. NP Blind Guardian - Fly |
Poem's I find are okay to write.
I mean musically, coming up with a riff and just jamming out a song in a matter of minutes. |
I'm terrible at that.

I don't despise theory though. I realy want to learn some. I just havnt gotten around to realy concentrating on that yet. |

:hi5: I need to write some for an upcoming rock contest. |
People that don't like theory are missing out and usually are lazy.

It is so helpful, even just basic theory. I love writing for multiple instruments.... |
Sometimes I feel like doing a concept album. Some could say its farfetched but meh, I just get the urge sometimes.
I suck badly with lyrics though. NP Blind Guardian - Bards song in the forest live
It is so helpful, even just basic theory. I love writing for multiple instruments....
Im am very very basic in my theory knowledge. I like doing harmony. |
Although I've never taken a class, I'm considering taking the AP test for music theory. I've got nothing to lose and I think I'm well aversed in theory while no expert.
:hi5:

I'd take it, I need to learn more though, I am still kind of a newb with theory. |
Well, good luck with that. Can't you just play a cover or something?
Yeah but I can't rely on a whole set of covers. Plus I'm getting pretty annoyed with covering songs. And I have to write the songs alone seeing as the rest of the band can't be bothered. |

You can't really get around not taking it in college and it costs 75 bucks also. |
You can't really get around not taking it in college and it costs 75 bucks also.
I know, but I plan on taking as much music as I can at the college/AP level, and this would be a good way to either score some early credit or see how I stand and what I need to know. If anything, it will open me up to new concepts that I'm not familiar with yet. Over here it's $82. |

I'm off to attempt at song writing again. Good night.

I really hate people. I think I mentioned the thing about my one friend and the cokehead girls wanting to fight her. Well, after school today they jumped her as she was walking to her mom's car to go to a doctor's appointment, and attempted to kill her. Her mom's pressing charges and is gonna have to get homeschooled. |
Hey all. I'm back on the electronic land of happiness and sunshine. I'm also back on MX.
I'm at Uni right now, since I have no power at home. They just opened JCU today, but it's north of Cairns, so it sustained little damage at all. My house is alright, some minor structural damage, but we will need a new clothesline, after a tree smashed our Hill's Hoist to bits. :( I also had a big fishtail palm (about 8m tall) come down onto the power connection from my home to the pole. It was suspended by the cord, which is lucky, because my mum's van was under it. Running out in the middle of a catergory 5 and moving a van isn't fun. The palm came down a few hours later, and yanked the cord out of the wall. Hence my home not having power for some time. Luckily, Cairns City wasn't badly hit. There's quite a few uprooted trees, most traffic lights were broken or twisted, and quite a few signs are smashed to bits. Other than that though, most homes are still habitable, aside from a few missing roofs, or broken verandahs, etc. Edmonton (where my girlfriend lives) was hit far worse. They recorded 290km/h winds there, as well as a few mini-tornadoes caused by Larry. She lives on 4 acres, and almost every tree is either uprooted, devoid of branches, or bent in weird ways. In addition, her garden shed's cement walls were pushed over, and the tin roof half flew off. There's also an unidentified matress in her yard that blew in during the height of the storm. As you go down south, it gets worse. Innisfail (about 60km south) was at the eye of the cyclone, and recorded 320km/h winds. Apparently, this is tentatively being called the worst cyclone in recorded history, worldwide. The town is pretty much demolished, with about 1/4 houses destroyed, and the rest all showing signs of damage. Some of the coastal houses aren't even there anymore, with only the foundations left. Luckily, the entire town was mostly evacuated to the hills, and as of now, no-one was killed, though some are critically injured. I think that's pretty good, considering the power of Larry. My friends in Gordonvale, a town between Edmonton and Innisfail, say that there are 20m high trees that are pushed over in a swathe like a great hand swept through them. They came to work, since Coles never sleeps :p, and they said it was better there because at least they had power. Heh. I would like to say how much I hate tourists. Some 20,000 tourists were in Cairns at the time, since the airports were closed a day earlier to prevent more from arriving, and the entire lot of them managed to keep people in the city working until 12am, only 4 hours before the cyclone came into range. Most businesses had to push them out of the doors, and ignore the complaints that they got, simply so they could get home and prepare. Then not an hour after the all-clear was given, they're back out of their hotel rooms, wandering around the city, getting in the way of everyone, and actually complaining about the fact that no places are open to get something to eat, etc. Bloody arseholes, everyone of them. |
Welcome back, good sir.
That thing about the tourists is fucking stupid, though... what a bunch of wankers! Good to hear everyone down there is alive and in your case, well. NP-Manic street preachers-I'm not working |

... ..as of now, no-one was killed, though some are critically injured.
That's awesome. And tourists are always stupid. When Katrina was doing her thing, a large number of tourists were (unsurprisingly) stranded in various places because of cancelled flights. I remember one group of tourists, coming back finally from Mexico I think, talking to a local news team; all they had to say about the whole thing was how horrible it was that they'd been put in a big hall to weather out the storm, and how disgraceful it was that afterwards there was no running water or working toilets or anything for them. I really, really wanted the reporter to just slap them. |
Good to see you made it through alright Riva.
|
Thanks all. Well, I'm going to be going to class now. I'll probably go back home afterwards, and I don't know when we'll be getting power back at my house, so it might be a while till I'm around again. Take care, all of you.

I just got The Godfather game for the Xbox and God of War for the PS2. I must say these games are both orgasmic. I recommend checking them out if you have the cash or time.

Deconstruction.. Do you have an email address?
Yeah, that girl and her friends jumped my friend and so forth and **** hit the fan. :-/. |
What did they do?
|
I'm not really sure, considering that it happened directly after I left school.
She basically said she got jumped, might have a concussion, doesn't want to have to deal with any of this, is really distressed, her mom wants to press charges, but once more she wants nothing to do with it. I feel really really bad. |
Don't you live in the suburbs? I could be very wrong on this though, and could feel very stupid.

That's why it's so surprising, our school is like 500 kids, probably smaller. The fact that spoiled rich girls actually did something that violent is not what I was expecting. But the one girl goes on about how she's pure Puerto Rican, etc. It's really irritating. |
