I don't want to jump the gun here, but the beginning of the new Incubus album is pretty ****ing awesome...
It seems like it's going to be better than ACLOTM. I like a few tracks, but there's some pretty bad ones.
Venetian Snares - Cavalcade Of Glee And Dadaist Happy Hardcore This is pretty crazy, but really good. |

This is pretty crazy, but really good.
Not as good as last year's release, but the dude never fails to impress. |

Scott Walker - The Drift
Fugazi - 13 Songs Converge - Jane Doe I'm not sure if Jane Doe is as good as Petitioning the Empty Sky, some of the songs don't seem as memorable to me. Though it's like twice as brutal and intense and a lot of other metal sounding adjectives. |
Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker
Fantastic as always. The Drones - Wait Long by the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies will Float By This is a lot better than I remember. I had this idea that all the slower quieter songs were not very good, but only "Locust" is really below average. It just drags on too much. But awesome album overall. XTC - Skylarking The first 8 songs on this are some of the best pop songs ever written, I swear. But then after that, it seems to drop off a bit, but then it finishes with "Dear God" which is cool. Still, fantastic album. Orange Juice - The Glasgow School Yes. I really dig Orange Juice, but this album is kind of all over the place (which is not to say it's bad). I need to get an album proper I think. |
Okay so "Jane Doe" alone convinces me that the album deserves a 4.5

I'm digging this record by this dude Benjy Ferree. It's called Leaving The Nest, and it's the most refreshing indie rock record I've heard in a long time.

Yes. I really dig Orange Juice, but this album is kind of all over the place (which is not to say it's bad). I need to get an album proper I think.
Scratch that. It's consistently awesome. With the exception of the last track "I Don't Care" and the seemingly unnecessary "Moscow Olympics," that is.
"Big Day" is one of the worst songs they ever recorded. Its such an hard on killer after "Earn Enough for Us."
Yeah, the whole thing is just getting better and better with each song, and then BAM! It's all over. |

the new Tom Waits and Brand New albums.
both differ in varying degrees of awesomeness |
I was listening to Guignol and I am not listening to the Jazz Mandolin Project, and holy **** what a band.

This one is kind of hard to describe. It's kind of like jazz/jungle music, it's really cool. |
Richard Hell - Blank Generation

Linda Perhacs- Parallelogram
Sigur Ros- Takk These were both very relaxing to listen to today. |
Rope - Heresy, And Then Nothing But Tears
Jazzkammer - Timex The final song, "Happy New Year", is amazing. The audio relationship of fireworks/war combined with tactful ambience is beautiful. Great way to end the album. |
