I found her to be quite difficult to watch, but only because it was appropriate to the situation, and was thus pretty upsetting. And the son is indeed an emo kid, but he fights back at least, and does cool **** like run into fireballs.

Yeah, but Spielberg likes the whole upset, innocent little kid persona. It's probably a relic from Close Encounters of the Third Kind. And I think we could tell when the girl cried herself out.

I remember Close Encounters of the Third Kind...that was a pretty creepy movie.

the son was an emo kid- look at his hair...

and plus he was either listening to emo or pop-punk in that scene, you could tell by the whiney, nasal american accent of the vocalist
