The new Deerhoof and new Tom Waits,
I'm pretty much about to explode waiting for the new Tom Waits. I'm pretty sure I'm getting it for my birthday.

Anxious 11-16-2006 09:57 PM

Theres alot of tracks on it. Of varying quality.

But its new fucking Tom Waits!!!!

The Bass Pow Wow. it's an interview with Mike Watt, Flea, Les Claypool, and Cris Kirkwood. Watt pretty much dominates the discussion but why not?
Devestations - Coal (has to be one of the best things I've heard this year. Any Nick cave fans will dig this)
I want to hear that.

I've been listening to Joanna Newsom, Low and Sarah Blasko.

I have the audio for that, I didn't know there was a video!!!

PECOAE 11-16-2006 10:17 PM

I took you guys' advice and listened to Bastards of Young.

It changed my life.

Kyle 11-16-2006 10:24 PM

I really want the Devastations thing, but am struggling to find it for download.

Zmev 11-16-2006 10:43 PM

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - Tell Balgeary, Balgury is Dead - 3.5/5 (would have been 4/5 except for Broken Artifact)

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists- Shake the Sheets - 3.5/5 (Up from 3/5)

PECOAE 11-16-2006 10:59 PM

Hearts of Oak I find a lot better.

If only for The High Party...

Tangy zizzle 11-16-2006 10:59 PM
I want to hear that.
You'll like it. You should be proud of all this great Australian music being released.

If anybody wants Coal by Devestations then hit me up on slsk, username Tangy.
Hearts of Oak I find a lot better.

Thats because Hearts of Oak is better, and a masterpiece.

Tangy zizzle 11-16-2006 11:18 PM

Shake the Sheets > all others.

Ya' know what work of his sucks though? That Tej Leo(?) Rx/Pharmacists thing man. It really dirty's up his bac catalogue.

PECOAE 11-16-2006 11:35 PM

I'm glad I don't know.

What do you guys think of The Tyranny of Distance?

I really like Dial Up...

Tangy zizzle 11-17-2006 12:01 AM

My second favourite after Shake the Sheets, great record.

Zesty Mordant 11-17-2006 12:17 AM

don't call me gay, but the new Foo Fightes record full of their live acoustic stuff is pretty cool.

"Big Me" is particularly great

Zmev 11-17-2006 02:02 AM

Ok because the first thing I thought of was to call you gay.

It's not on an album (or I'm not listening to it) but the 10,000 Maniacs cover of "Everyday Is Like Sunday" is great. It can be heard here: http://www.myspace.com/10kmaniacs

Little Man being Erased 11-17-2006 04:21 AM

Daft Punk - Discovery
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
The Veils - Nux Vomica
Mobb Deep - The Infamous

The first three are all fantastic albums, especially Nux Vomica. I'm liking The Infamous a lot more the second time through, but I'm still not really diggin it a hell of a lot.

Zmev 11-17-2006 04:25 AM

Tindersticks - Tindersticks

I've had this for over a year and now I decide to listen to it all? This has some great tunes but at times drags. 4/5

asymm 11-17-2006 10:26 AM
/comments on someone listening to Tindersticks
Excellent!

Last night at someone's party...
The Books - The Lemon of Pink
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico
Various Black Sabbath singles

Magazine - The Correct Use of Soap

dei 11-17-2006 10:29 AM

I used Myspace (nowai!) and through another band's profile I found this band called Corcovado and they're good. But they're from Michigan...

mr_jackalope 11-17-2006 11:21 AM

/makes ill-conceived, hyperbolic statement about the Tindersticks.

I'm listening to Fisherman's Blues by the Waterboys. When it's all Van Morrison it's wicked, when it's pre-Dave Matthews it's not so much.

Zappa 11-17-2006 12:55 PM

What do you have against Michigan?

Volly 11-17-2006 03:19 PM

I've been really diggin Interpol.

Smooth, deep and airy is what I'm into now.:thumb:
/makes well-conceived, hyperbolic statement about the Tindersticks.
Excellent again!

Joanna Newsom - Ys
Nils Økland - Straum
Both are fantastic.

Sleepy 11-17-2006 04:40 PM

Moby - Play
Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children
Daft Punk - Discovery
Kyuss - Blues for the Red Sun

Lots of electronica lately. + Kyuss

br3ad_man 11-17-2006 06:22 PM

Joanna Newsom - Ys
Off Minor - Innominate

Also, I went to this dance thing last night that was pretty gay. Deciding I needed some 'real' music, I listened to all of Ghosts of the Great Highway while driving around.

Zmev 11-17-2006 06:38 PM

Go Buckeyes

mr_jackalope 11-17-2006 06:51 PM

They're best stuff is really flat-out amazing. Some of the tracks less based in traditional music on this one, though, are a little dull and weaken the impact.

"We Will Not Be Lovers" is like song of the decade.

DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper

Silver Jews - Tanglewood Numbers

Montana 11-17-2006 09:29 PM

I'm really into Ryan Adams' album, "Heartbreaker". Especially the song Come Pick Me Up.

mick7 11-17-2006 11:18 PM

I've really been getting into a mix of Sarah Blasko and The Butterfly Effect (both Australian artists).

It's a strange mix but surprisingly works, I recommend both artists though they write some excellent music!

Zebra 11-17-2006 11:27 PM

Boards of Canada

That's all I've listened to all day.

pixiesfanyo 11-18-2006 12:12 AM

Sleeping People - Sleeping People

dei 11-18-2006 12:28 AM

Because of that Plug Music Awards business thread that DMD made the other day I have been listening to Ellen Allien nonstop. It's cool. So I'm going to put down Ellen Allien's Berlinette.

Excellent work.

I listened to Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It In People just before. It was good I guess, but I just sort of drifted in and out of it.

I totally second Sarah Blasko. She has quite honestly made one of the best albums of the year.
Go Buckeyes
I go to Michigan, and a bunch of kids had these "Buck the Fuckeyes" t-shirts when our football team competed against theirs. But I thought that was dumb, because it still has the f-word in it.
